NewsNation Debate Stumbles Out of the Gate, Mess With DeSantis Mic/Camera

NewsNation was the new kid on the block in the television news space, and Wednesday was their first go at hosting a presidential debate. The moderators were NewNation's Elizabeth Vargas, The Washington Free Beacon editor-in-chief Eliana Johnson, and Sirius XM podcaster Megyn Kelly. While NewsNation claimed not to have an agenda, it was hard to see it as the first question and a series of audio/visual mishaps all seemed to go against one of the Republican candidates in particular. Unfortunately, things didn’t start well as Kelly kicked off the debate with a long-winded fastball at Florida Governor Ron DeSantis pressing him to get out of the race (Click “expand”): Having said that, Mr. Trump is nearly 50 points ahead of all of you in the national polls. 29 points ahead in Iowa where the GOP caucuses are less than six weeks away. And so, as Republicans get ready to vote on whether any of you might be preferable to Mr. Trump, we begin with the question of electability. Governor DeSantis, your campaign and its super PAC have spent the most money, had the most high net worth donors, and had a wave of momentum coming into this race after your big re-election win in Florida. You were seen by many as the candidate most likely to consolidate the non-Trump field. But here we are, a month out from the first real votes, and you haven't managed to do it. In fact, Nikki Haley is beating you in New Hampshire and South Carolina now and closing in on you in Iowa. Not to mention Trump, who is not only dominating in the early stage but is beating you in Florida by over 30 points. Is it fair to say as Senator Tim Scott did when he dropped out that voters are telling you, “not no, but not now?” When DeSantis went to answer the question, the NewsNation control room had apparently messed with his microphone and had him sounding like a colony of bees in a vacuum cleaner. Some may argue that it was just an accident since he was the first to speak. But that issue should have been worked out in a pre-debate walkthrough when they hooked up the candidates and adjusted their audio levels.     There was another snafu almost 10 minutes later where, as DeSantis was going after former Ambassador Nikki Haley and Black Rock, the camera started shaking wildly (both incidents are included in the video accompanying this piece). DeSantis had already spoken and had not moved, so camera adjustments shouldn’t have been necessary. Again, that’s usually worked out in walkthroughs. Those were the only noticeable audio/visual issues during the debate. But there were good questions! Johnson’s economic questions kept the focus on American families struggling to thrive under Bidenomics: Let's talk about the economy. Ambassador Haley, homeownership has always been a part of the American dream, but it's increasingly out of reach for younger Americans. This year, mortgage rates reached 30-year highs. Home prices have risen $190,000 over the past decade. Is this a free market at work or should the federal government do something to make homes more affordable? (…) Governor DeSantis, the latest NewsNation Decision Desk poll found that inflation tops the worries of American voters. 61 percent say they are very concerned and the working class is hardest hit. Economists say this is fueled by a glut of federal spending. The Biden administration has added $6 trillion to the national debt so far. But President Trump wasn't exactly a penny pincher. His administration added $7.8 trillion. Do Republicans including President Trump share the blame for inflation? And what concrete steps would a President DeSantis take to help Americans make ends meet? They also featured video questions from Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. “Many Republicans are concerned about the legitimacy of elections. A federal judge just ruled that Pennsylvania must count on dated mail-in ballots. And unlike Alabama, many states don't require any identification to vote,” he prefaced. “What should states do now to increase election integrity and voter confidence for the 2024 elections?” Now that NewsNation had their first debate under their belt, was the Republican National Committee impressed enough to agree to give them a crack at a general election debate? We’ll have to see. The transcript is below. Click "expand" to read: NewsNation’s 2024 Republican Presidential Primary Debate December 6, 2023 8:02:49 p.m. Eastern MEGYN KELLY: On stage tonight, four candidates, all vying to become their party's nominee. And given the state of affairs in our political system right now, one of you might very well do it. Even many Democrats now admit that President Biden is a weak candidate. Just as many Republicans acknowledge former President Donald Trump's multiple legal troubles could imperil his quest for a second term. All of which means, one you could wind up the leader of the free world. Having said that, Mr. Trump is nearly 50 points ahead of all of you in the national polls. 29 points ahead in Iowa where the GOP caucuses are less than six weeks away. I'm sick of hearing about these polls, ‘cause I remember those polls in November of 2022. They said there was going to be a big red wave. It was going to be monumental. And that crashed and burned. Nikki Haley Calls for TikTok Ban at Republican Debate

At the fourth Republican presidential debate, presidential candidate Nikki Haley called for a TikTok ban citing rampant antisemitism on the app.  Governor Ron DeSantis, businessman Vivek Ramaswamy, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley and former Governor Chris Christie faced off in the fourth Republican presidential debate Wednesday. When Haley was asked about how America should address antisemitism on college campuses, the former South Carolina governor pointed to TikTok as a crucial part of the problem.  “We really do need to ban TikTok once and for all and let me tell you why. For every 30 minutes that someone watches TikTok, everyday they become 17 percent more anti-semitic, more pro-Hamas based on doing that,” Haley said citing a Generation Labs survey promoted by machine learning expert Anthony Goldbloom. .@NikkiHaley "We really do need to ban TikTok once and for all...we now know that 50% of adults 18-25 think that Hamas was warranted in what they did with Israel. That's a problem." pic.twitter.com/QRgViaf5Ty — Tom Olohan (@tolohan) December 7, 2023 Haley continued saying “[w]e now know that 50 percent of adults 18-25 think that Hamas was warranted in what they did with Israel. That's a problem.”  The republican presidential candidate was referring to a Harvard/Harris poll which found that 76 percent of Americans believe that Hamas’ terror attacks on Israel were not justified.” However, the results among young people–the primary demographic using TikTok– are starkly different. The Harvard/Harris poll found that a staggering 51 percent  of Americans 18 to 24 believed that the brutal terror attacks of Oct. 7 “can be justified by the grievances of Palestinians.”  Others have reported massive amounts of anti-Israel content on Tiktok. For example, from October 16th to October 30th after the Hamas terrorist attack, Axios reported that “there have been nearly four times the number of views to TikTok posts using the hashtag #StandwithPalestine globally compared to posts using the hashtag #StandwithIsrael.”  Beyond the spread of anti-Israel and pro-Hamas messages across TikTok, the communist Chinese government-tied app has also come under fire for the spread of support for dead terrorist Osama Bin Laden on the platform.   Conservatives are under attack! A Desperate Debate Ends in a Draw

There were no clear victors, no obvious losers. For the most part, everyone stayed in their lanes. The rest of the story will be left to the voters to tell.

Joe Biden’s Approval Rating Drops AGAIN According to New CNN Poll

According to new polling from CNN, Joe Biden’s approval rating has just dropped again. Biden has entered the ‘danger territory’ of under 40 percent.

Even many Democrats are not happy about the direction of the country under Biden, which should come as no surprise. Everyone but the super wealthy are struggling right now.

These polling numbers are going to lead to more talk of the Democrats replacing Biden before the election.

The Hill reports:

Biden’s job approval erodes further amid economic concerns: poll

President Biden’s job approval rating ticked down again in the latest CNN poll, dropping to 37 percent, a signal that the president’s favor is further eroding as he campaigns for another term in 2024.

Biden boasted approval figures in the 50s at the start of his term, and still had 45 percent at the beginning of this year, according to the CNN polling. The latest figure is down two points from 39 percent at beginning of the month.

Nearly two-thirds, or 63 percent, now say they disapprove of Biden.

The president and his allies have largely shrugged off polling that some point to as warning signs for his reelection bid — as concerns about the economy and other issues continue to circulate.

Just a third of voters in the new poll said they approve of Biden’s handling of the economy, down three points from October, while 67 percent disapprove.

The Presidents Walk It Back

(John Hinderaker)

Yesterday the presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn provoked outrage when, in the course of testimony before a House committee, they wouldn’t say whether a call for genocide against Jews would violate their universities’ policies. The blowback from donors and alumni must have been nuclear, as today both President Claudine Gay of Harvard and President Liz Magill of Penn released statements recanting yesterday’s testimony:

Actually it was Gay who “confused a right to free expression with the idea that Harvard will condone calls for violence against Jewish students.”

Magill released this video apology:

A Video Message from President Liz Magill pic.twitter.com/GlPE3QZU4P

— Penn (@Penn) December 6, 2023

The absurd premise here, which all three presidents implied in yesterday’s testimony, is that the universities’ policies on student conduct are congruent with the First Amendment. That is a ridiculous idea. University policies do not provide that students can do anything that isn’t illegal. That applies to speech, among many other things. If a student wrote in a student paper that all blacks deserve to be murdered, a perfectly legal assertion, he would be gone in the blink of an eye.

So what happened here is that the political biases prevalent in “elite” circles were inadvertently revealed, and, for the moment at least, the real world intruded and the universities scurried for cover.

Michael Shellenberger Tells Tucker: Opposition To Natural Gas Proves Climate Activists Aren’t Pro-Environment, They’re Anti-Human (VIDEO)

Writer and free speech activist Michael Shellenberger recently spoke with Tucker Carlson about the hypocrisy of our political elites who claim to care about climate change.

He notes that if these people were serious, they would embrace natural gas, which the United States has in massive amounts.

Instead, our elites are all about control. Shellenberger even suggests that these people want to make energy scarce on purpose.

Real Clear Politics provides a partial transcript:

MICHAEL SHELLENBERGER: I think what’s so interesting about what’s happening right now is that just even a year or two ago, global elites used to pretend to care about people but they’re not even pretending anymore,” Shellenberger said. “I mean, here they fly their private jets…I think that what’s so different now is that the elites are just openly and blatantly expressing their hatred of humankind, particularly the hatred of working people, of poor people, people both in the United States in so-called flyover states that they hate so much, but also in places like India and China and Africa where people want to live a better life, and that’s what coal has traditionally provided.

The obvious alternative to coal is natural gas. If you cared about climate change, if this was actually about climate change, you would just produce more natural gas because it produces half the carbon emissions of coal. The United States reduced our Carbon emissions by 22% between 2005 and 2020 with 61% of that education simply coming from switching from coal to natural gas, but John Kerry and other climate activists are against natural gas and they’ve been stifling of natural gas, clean-burning American natural gas, which is the cleanest in the world. So it’s so obvious, it’s so hypocritical, but worse than that I think it’s really anti-human.

Watch the video below. Shellenberger comes in just before the five minute mark:

Ep. 44 Another half-demented 80-year-old yelling about things he doesn’t understand. These are our leaders. They don’t care about our future because they don’t have one of their own. pic.twitter.com/iylpXALJjZ

As Shellenberger says at one point, it really does seem like some of our ‘leaders’ hate us.

CNN Now Floating the Idea of ‘Carbon Passports’ to Limit Travel in Order to Save the Planet

CNN and some other liberal media outlets are now floating the idea of requiring ‘carbon passports’ to limit people’s travel in order to fight climate change.

Every time you think the left cannot possibly come up with a new idea that is worse than the last, they somehow manage to do it.

These are the same people who accuse Trump of being a dictator.

The memo has gone out.
Carbon passports are coming.
You will own nothing, travel nowhere, and be an obedient slave to the overlords. pic.twitter.com/ZMptFQf11m

— End Wokeness (@EndWokeness) December 6, 2023

From CNN:

It’s time to limit how often we can travel abroad – ‘carbon passports’ may be the answer

The summer of 2023 was very significant for the travel industry. By the end of July, international tourist arrivals globally reached 84% of pre-pandemic levels. In some European countries, such as France, Denmark and Ireland, tourism demand even surpassed its pre-pandemic level.

This may be great news economically, but there’s concern that a return to the status quo is already showing dire environmental and social consequences.

The summer saw record-breaking heatwaves across many parts of the world. People were forced to flee wildfires in Greece and Hawaii, and extreme weather warnings were issued in many popular holiday destinations like Portugal, Spain and Turkey. Experts attributed these extreme conditions to climate change.

Tourism is part of the problem. The tourism sector generates around one-tenth of the greenhouse gas emissions that are driving the climate crisis.

The negative impacts of tourism on the environment have become so severe that some are suggesting drastic changes to our travel habits are inevitable. In a report from 2023 that analyzed the future of sustainable travel, tour operator Intrepid Travel proposed that “carbon passports” will soon become a reality if the tourism industry hopes to survive.

Billionaire Donor Demands Presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn ‘Resign in Disgrace’ After Disastrous Hearing on Campus Anti-Semitism

Millions of Americans watched in horror this week as the presidents of Harvard, MIT and Penn testified before Congress about the vile anti-Semitism we have seen on their campuses in recent weeks.

Despite being given ample chances to do so, they just couldn’t seem to bring themselves to admit that the far left students carrying out these acts are violating school policies.

All of the school presidents hid behind a supposed commitment to free speech, but we know that’s false because conservative speakers are routinely shouted down on college campuses.

Now, billionaire hedge fund manager and academic donor Bill Ackman is demanding that these school presidents ‘resign in disgrace.’

Breitbart News reports:

Bill Ackman Demands Presidents of Harvard, MIT, and Upenn ‘Resign in Disgrace’ for Antisemitism Failures

Billionaire hedge fund manager Bill Ackman is demanding that the presidents of Harvard, MIT, and UPenn “resign in disgrace” following their comments during a congressional hearing on Tuesday.

“The presidents of @Harvard, @MIT, and @Penn were all asked the following question under oath at today’s congressional hearing on antisemitism: Does calling for the genocide of Jews violate [your university’s] code of conduct or rules regarding bullying or harassment?” Ackman wrote in a post on X/Twitter.

The hedge fund manager continued, “the answers they gave reflect the profound moral bankruptcy” of Harvard Presidents Gay, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) president Sally Kornbluth, and University of Pennsylvania Liz Magill.

— Bill Ackman (@BillAckman) December 5, 2023

Ackman’s tweet is a long one, but this is the key part:

This could be the most extraordinary testimony ever elicited in the Congress, certainly on the topic of genocide, which to remind us all is:

“the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group”

The presidents’ answers reflect the profound educational, moral and ethical failures that pervade certain of our elite educational institutions due in large part to their failed leadership.

Don’t take my word for it.

You must watch the following three minutes. By the end, you will be where I am.

They must all resign in disgrace.

This entire affair has exposed massive rot at some of America’s ‘top’ schools.

This issue comes up every few years. Democrats want to lower the voting age so that their most radical base members, young impressionable people, can vote.

She is trying to make this look like she is doing something for incarcerated people and the young, but this is all about upping the odds for the Democrat party. That’s all it as.

FOX News reported:

‘Squad’ member Ayanna Pressley calls for allowing ‘incarcerated citizens’ and 16-year-olds to vote

Democrat Massachusetts Rep. Ayanna Pressley, a far-left ‘Squad’ member, called for allowing “incarcerated citizens” to vote in federal elections while referencing her support for permitting individuals as young as 16 years of age to cast a ballot.

Pressley made the comments during a Wednesday press conference while introducing legislation alongside Democrat Vermont Sen. Peter Welch that would restore felons’ voting rights.

“That’s why we’re here today, to introduce the Inclusive Democracy Act — a historic, brand new, first-of-its-kind bill that will end the stain of felony disenfranchisement in America and guarantee the right to vote for incarcerated and formerly incarcerated citizens,” Pressley said.

“Our bill is a reflection of bold, progressive, democratic values. Because of Republicans and the Supreme Court stopping at nothing to undermine voting rights and to exclude Black and brown folks from participating in our democracy, we must be just as relentless at protecting and expanding access to the ballot box, including for incarcerated citizens,” she continued.

DHS Chief Mayorkas Says Building Border Wall, Limiting Asylum is “Violence to Our Fundamental Values” (VIDEO)

Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Chief Alejandro Mayorkas on Wednesday said securing the border and limiting asylum is “violence to our fundamental values.”

12,000 illegal aliens flooded over the border in the last 24 hours in the highest single-day total ever recorded.

Bill Melugin reported from Lukeville, Arizona on Wednesday and showed a massive line of illegals at the border. Most of the illegals are military-aged single men from around the world including Africa and Syria.

A live look at the situation in Lukeville, AZ this morning, as record high illegal crossings surge along the southern border. A human smuggler brazenly stood on US soil as he helped illegal aliens rush through a hole in the border wall in Lukeville, Arizona while Border Patrol agents did absolutely nothing to stop the invasion.

More than 10 million illegal aliens have invaded the US since Joe Biden was installed in January 2021.

Instead of securing the border, DHS Chief Mayorkas is busy warning Border Patrol agents not to misgender illegal aliens.

Mayorkas told CNN on Wednesday that securing the border is “violence to our fundamental values.”

Instead of impeaching Mayorkas, Republicans in Congress spent the last several weeks working to expel GOP Rep. George Santos.

11 Key Takeaways From the Fourth GOP Presidential Debate

Four candidates mixed it up onstage Wednesday night in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, for the fourth Republican presidential debate of the 2024 campaign: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie.

Former President Donald Trump, the front-runner in the GOP race, skipped the event for a fundraiser in Florida.

Podcaster and former Fox News host Megyn Kelly, NewsNation anchorwoman Elizabeth Vargas, and Washington Free Beacon Editor-in-Chief Eliana Johnson moderated the debate, hosted by NewsNation hosted at the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. The debate ran from 8 to 10 p.m. Eastern.

Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina, North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum, and former Vice President Mike Pence all dropped out of the race after appearing in earlier debates. Former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson remains in the race, though he has failed to qualify for any debate since the first.

Here are 11 highlights, including the time each section was added to this report.

11:24 p.m.: AR-15s for Taiwan and America’s Fear of China

“If you want to stop [Chinese leader Xi Jinping] from invading Taiwan, let’s open a branch of the [National Rifle Association] in Taiwan and put an AR-15 in the hands of every family and train them how to use it. That will give Xi a taste of American exceptionalism.”

Vargas, as a moderator, cited that quote from Ramaswamy and asked the candidate whether, in light of the Taiwanese government’s enacting a zero-tolerance gun policy, that was a “serious” idea.

“It’s part of a broader deterrence strategy,” Ramaswamy replied, adding: “I think the next U.S. president needs to be crystal clear that at least for the foreseeable future, the U.S. will absolutely defend Taiwan, and it is with that clarity that we achieve deterrence.”

India is a key part of a larger strategy of preventing China from taking Taiwan, he said.

“India has to be able to block the Andaman Sea, which is where China gets most of its Middle Eastern oil supplies. That’s critical,” Ramaswamy said.

He said the Second Amendment to the Constitution has been an important deterrent to autocrats that has worked in America, so there’s no reason it wouldn’t work in Taiwan.

The reason Americans must think so much about China is because we now have a commingled economy, Ramaswamy said, and Americans are afraid of what will happen in the case of a confrontation with the Asian giant.

“If that were a Russian spy balloon, we would have shot it down in an instant. If that were a Russian spy base in Cuba, we’d be going hard on them instead of turning the other way, as we are with China,” he said.

America’s dependency on China for pharmaceuticals and even military equipment has made us vulnerable, Ramaswamy concluded.

11:15 p.m.: ‘If They Are Harvesting, We’re Harvesting’

Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton was allowed to ask a question at the debate.

“What should states do now to increase election integrity?” asked Fitton, head of the government watchdog.

DeSantis talked about his record of election reform in Florida, but said Republicans can’t unilaterally disarm on the issue.

“Do what we did in Florida. Twenty years ago, Florida elections were a joke,” DeSantis responded. “Everyone laughed at it. I came in. I removed a couple of [election] supervisors from South Florida.”

DeSantis stressed that Florida banned ballot harvesting, which is the practice of allowing political operatives to collect and distribute large numbers of absentee ballots from election offices.

He also said that Florida banned private dollars from funding election administration, commonly referred to as “Zuckerbucks,” a reference to Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg’s spending more than $400 million on election offices, mostly in Democratic areas of battleground states.

“We require universal voter ID, no Zuckerbucks, no mass-mail balloting, and no ballot harvesting,” the Florida governor said. “We even have an agency that prosecutes people for violating election laws. The result of that is in both 2020 and 2022, we counted millions and millions of votes on election night, and produced the results. It was transparent and everybody was happy. That is not happening throughout this country.”

DeSantis added, however, that if he is the Republican presidential nominee, he will play by the rules of individual states.

“Let me tell you this, as the nominee, I think it’s important. Not every state is where it needs to be,” he said.

“There is ballot harvesting in places like Nevada. I’m not going to fight with one hand tied behind my back,” DeSantis continued. “I’m going to have organizations in all the swing states. If they are harvesting, we’re harvesting. If they are going to have Zuckerbucks, we are going to have Zuckerbucks.”

“We are going to exploit whatever the rules are,” he said. “I favor changing the rules to be like Florida and some of the other states that have done a good job. But until then, we have to do that.”

11:10 p.m.: Ending Big Pharma’s Vaccine Liability Protection

The four candidates for president were asked about the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed, the program to develop COVID-19 vaccines in record time. Pharmaceutical firms were protected from legal liability as part of the effort.

Ramaswamy, fielding a question about whether Trump should be proud of the program, cited former President Ronald Reagan in doing so.

“This question specifically on liability goes back to, actually, Reagan, and Reagan as a president, who I admire—as many of us do—I think that reviving that spirit is in many ways going to be good for this country,” he said, “but one of the areas where he erred was this special form of lobbying to say that one kind of manufacturer, a vaccine manufacturer, cannot be sued for their product liability.”

Ramaswamy said he would take a different approach.

“I’ve pledged as part of my legislative agenda, we will repeal that. Just like we will repeal every other form of crony capitalism,” he added. “People who have been harmed by those vaccines deserve accountability. They cannot be forgotten Americans.”

Ramaswamy continued:

One of the top lessons we learned from that pandemic is that free speech in this country is most important in those alleged times of emergency.

If we had been allowed to openly debate the merits of those vaccines, they would never have been mandated in the way that they were.

11 p.m.: Ramaswamy’s Climate Warning

Ramaswamy also brought up climate change, contending that the Left’s climate agenda is “shackling this country like a set of handcuffs.”

“The climate change agenda is a hoax because it has nothing to do with the climate,” he said, noting a “98% reduction in the climate disaster-related deaths in the last century.”

“If you thought COVID was bad, what’s coming with the climate agenda is far worse,” Ramaswamy warned. “We should not be bending the knee to this new religion.”

“We are flogging ourselves and losing our modern way of life, bowing to this new god of climate,” the entrepreneur added.

10:40 p.m.: ‘I Stood Up for Little Girls, You Didn’t’

As moderator, Kelly homed in on Christie as she turned the discussion toward transgender surgeries and other procedures for children.

“How is it,” Kelly asked the former New Jersey governor, “that you think a parent should be able to OK these surgeries, never mind the sterilization of a child, and aren’t you way too out of step on this issue to be the Republican nominee?”

.@megynkelly goes after Chris Christie for his stances on trans surgeries for kids: "How is it that you think a parent should be able to ok these surgeries, never mind the sterilization of a child, and aren't you WAY to out of step on this issue to be the Republican nominee?" pic.twitter.com/jZiLs4xPyS

— Mary Margaret Olohan (@MaryMargOlohan) December 7, 2023

Christie responded by insisting that elected officials “should empower parents to be teaching the values that they believe in in their homes,” rather than using the government to stop the transitioning of minors.

DeSantis took the opportunity to take a shot at Haley for her past remarks on keeping the law out of the matter, saying to strong applause: “As a parent, you do not have the right to abuse your kids. This is mutilating these minors. These are irreversible procedures. And this is something that other countries in Europe, like Sweden … they saw it did incalculable damage. They shut it down.”

Haley defended her record on the subject as governor of South Carolina, saying that “we had maybe a handful of kids that were dealing with an issue.”

“I said, we don’t need to bring the government into this, but boys go into boys’ bathrooms, girls go into girls’ bathrooms, and if anyone else has an issue, they use a private bathroom,” Haley said. “Now, 10 years later, we see this issue has exploded.”

Haley then accused DeSantis of hypocritically downplaying the need for bills banning boys from girls’ bathrooms, to which DeSantis responded: “I signed a bathroom bill in Florida; so, that’s obviously not true.”

“I signed it, you didn’t,” he told Haley. “You killed it, I signed it. I stood up for little girls, you didn’t do it.”

10:33 p.m.: ‘Conspiracy Theorist’

Ramaswamy depicted himself as a great truth-teller, willing to deliver truths that appear to be “conspiracy theories” to some other people.

“I think the real enemy is not Donald Trump. It’s not even Joe Biden. It’s the deep state that, at least, Donald Trump attempted to take on,” he said.

Ramaswamy said he was the only person on the stage who could say that the Capitol riot on Jan. 6, 2021, “now does look like it was an inside job; that the government lied to us for 20 years about Saudi Arabia’s involvement in 9/11; that the great replacement theory is not some grand, right-wing conspiracy theory, but a basic statement of the Democratic Party’s platform; that the 2020 election was indeed stolen by Big Tech; [and] that the 2016 election—the one that Trump won for sure—was also one that was stolen from him by the national security establishment that actually put up the Trump-Russia collusion hoax that they knew was false.”

9:57 p.m.: DeSantis, Haley Trade Barbs Over Who’s Soft on China

A question about illegal immigration and the proliferation of fentanyl in the United States sparked a debate between DeSantis and Haley on who would be tougher on China.

“Look at where fentanyl came from. Let’s go to the heart of the matter,” Haley, U.N. ambassador during the Trump administration, said. “It came from China. That’s why we need to end all normal trade relations with China until they stop murdering Americans with fentanyl.”

Haley said that Trump was good on trade with China, but that’s all he was good at regarding the Chinese regime, because fentanyl continued to come through the border. She said Trump gave China technology that bolstered its military.

DeSantis responded by saying that Haley courted Chinese businesses and influence when she was governor of South Carolina.

“She wrote a love letter to the Chinese ambassador, saying how great a friend China is,” he said, later adding: “There’s also a video of her, as governor, standing in front of a Chinese flag with a Chinese business saying that she now works for them, talking about this Chinese company.”

DeSantis then said that Haley’s “Wall Street donors” make money in China and won’t let her be tough on Beijing.

“He’s just mad because those Wall Street donors used to support him and now they support me,” Haley retorted.

She then said that DeSantis held an event with a Chinese company in his state, which he denied was the case. The Florida governor responded by saying that he banned China from buying land in Florida and shuttered Confucius Institutes, Chinese-backed cultural centers on college campuses.

“Even the liberal media groups” said Haley’s charges about his bringing Chinese companies to Florida were false, DeSantis said.

9:50 p.m.: Securing America’s Southern Border

DeSantis had said during a previous debate that he would support shooting migrants who enter the country illegally and with dangerous drugs.

“The drug cartels are invading our country, and they are killing our citizens by the tens of thousands every year,” the Florida governor said in defense of those comments.

“The commander in chief not only has a right, you have a responsibility, to fight back against these people,” DeSantis said of the Mexican cartels.

He added that he supports both designating the cartels as foreign terrorist organizations and building a border wall and that he “will get it done.”

“I am not going to sit there and allow mothers to lose more kids because of fentanyl overdose,” DeSantis said. “I am not going to sit there and let sex trafficking go unabated or human trafficking go unabated. There’s going to be a new sheriff in town, and these drug cartels better buckle up,” he said as the crowd cheered.

— The Daily Signal (@DailySignal) December 7, 2023

Haley said the 7 million or 8 million illegal aliens who have entered America under the Biden administration “absolutely have to go back,” adding, “We have to stop the incentive of what’s bringing them over here in the first place.”

For illegal aliens who have been in America longer than a few years, Haley said, “We’ve got to start seeing, who is it? How long have they been here? Have they been vetted? Have they paid taxes? Have they been working?”

Haley said she would support sending “special operations” over to “take out the cartels” and reimplementing the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” policy. But when it comes to fentanyl, the former U.N. ambassador said, America must hold China accountable for providing the cartels with the materials needed to make fentanyl.

America needs to “end all normal trade relations with China until they stop murdering Americans with fentanyl,” she said.

9:33 p.m.: Would You Send Troops to Israel?

Eight Americans remain hostage in Gaza wo months after Hamas took them captive in southern Israel on Oct 7 along with over 200 others.

“How far would you go as president to secure the release of those eight American hostages, and would it include sending American forces into combat?” one moderator asked DeSantis.

“We have to look out for our people,” DeSantis said, adding that as president, “you have to do whatever you can” to get American hostages home.

The Florida governor criticized Biden, claiming the president says he supports Israel, but has done “nothing but try to kneecap them every step of the way.”

The Biden administration must also pressure Iran and “turn the screws on them,” he said. “Don’t let him have any oil revenue.”

Christie, dissatisfied with DeSantis’ answer, said if he were president and facing a situation like the current one involving U.S. hostages, he would “absolutely” send troops if military advisers “had a plan which showed me that we could get them out safely.”

“You’re damn right I’ll send the American Army in there to get our people home and get them home now, and I’ll answer that question directly,” the former New Jersey governor said.

Ramaswamy got involved in the Israel discussion when moderators questioned him on why he had criticized Haley for calling Hamas’ attack on Israel an attack on America.

The entrepreneur condemned the terrorist attack on Israel, but added that “to say that that was an attack on America fails a basic test,” he said, before taking a shot at Haley.

“I mean, Nikki, if you can’t tell the difference between where Israel is and the U.S. is on a map, I can have my 3-year-old son show you the difference.”

Ramaswamy added that Haley’s language “is irresponsible, because it has major consequences, because that doesn’t leave room for what actually is an attack on America.”

9:23 p.m.: ‘Shut Up’: Christie-Ramaswamy Shoutfest

Two candidates at the back of the pack—Ramaswamy and Christie—engaged in a heated and seemingly personal exchange.

Haley talked about the need for a strong America in addressing the Russia-Ukraine war, prompting Ramaswamy to say that the former U.N. ambassador had “no idea” of the names of the Ukrainian provinces she would allow the U.S. military to fight for.

Ramaswamy said he was the first candidate to propose a “reasonable” peace deal for Ukraine and Russia, which invaded the former Soviet republic in February 2022.

Christie jumped in to say the deal would give Russia all they land it has stolen.

“This is the fourth debate that you would be voted … as the most obnoxious blowhard in America, so shut up,” Christie said.

Ramaswamy shot back: “Your version of foreign policy experience was closing down a bridge from New Jersey to New York. Walk yourself off that stage, enjoy a nice meal, and get the hell out of this race!”

At that point, the top-polling candidates on the stage–DeSantis and Haley–were remaining quiet.

Ramaswamy said his opponents were following the lead of politicians who said Iraq had weapons of mass destruction.

“You can put lipstick on a Dick Cheney. It is still a neocon,” he said.

Christie shot back that he has experience in prosecuting terrorists as a former U.S. attorney.

“I was the U.S. attorney in New Jersey when the terrorist attacks were launched against the United States in 2001,” the former New Jersey governor said.

“I brought the first two cases in this country against terrorists who tried to attack us again. And I know the threat of terrorism and bullying in this country and around the world,” Christie said. “At that time, he [Ramaswamy] was learning about the provinces in Ukraine, sitting with his smartass mouth at Harvard. The fact of the matter is, back then, he was a Democrat.”

9:14 p.m.: DeSantis, Haley Spar Over Trans Procedures for Kids

Haley used a leftist slur to describe a Florida law that bans classroom discussions of gender and sexuality for children in kindergarten through third grade.

DeSantis slammed Haley’s remarks in an interview on “CBS Mornings,” which she made back in June.

“It wasn’t about the parents’ rights in education bill, it was about prohibiting sex-change operations on minors,” DeSantis said. “They do puberty blockers, they do irreversible—talk to [detransitioner] Chloe Cole, she went through this.”

“That is what Nikki Haley opposed,” the Florida governor added. “She said the law shouldn’t get involved in that, and I just ask you: If you’re somebody who’s going to be president of the United States, and you can’t stand up against child abuse, how are you going to be able to stand up for anything?”

Haley disputed DeSantis’ characterization, bringing up Florida’s HB 1557, the Parental Rights in Education Act, which drew heavy fire from LGBTQ advocates, liberal media, and Democrats.

“I never said that,” she responded. “I said that if you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, you should have to be 18 to have anything done to change your gender.”

“You said the law should stay out of it,” DeSantis responded.

DeSantis slams Haley for her remark: “I think the law should stay out of it and parents should handle it" in reference to kids and trans procedures.

During the June interview with CBS News, Haley criticized pro-transgender policies that allow “biological boys” in girls’ locker rooms. The interviewer asked her: “What care should be on the table when a 12-year-old child in this country assigned female at birth says, actually, ‘I feel more comfortable living as a boy’?” Should the law allow that, he asked her.

“Well, I think the law should stay out of it,” Haley said. “This is a job for the parents to handle.”

She went on in that interview to criticize the idea that children should undergo permanent changes before they turn 18. She also emphasized that schools should not “go in and force things” on the issue.

Haley previously has criticized the idea that children should be allowed to undergo experimental transgender medical interventions before they turn 18.

“I actually said his ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill didn’t go far enough,” Haley said.

The Florida measure, now law, didn’t use the word “gay.” The law includes the word “parent” 32 times and the word “parental” seven times. The law focuses on parental notification and parental awareness of what their kids are being taught or exposed to in school.

Haley Uses Leftist Slur to Describe Parental Rights in Education Bill

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley used a leftist slur Wednesday evening to describe a Florida bill that bans classroom discussions of gender and sexuality for children.

At a presidential debate, Haley responded Wednesday to criticism from Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis about her remarks made to “CBS Mornings” back in June.

“It wasn’t about the parents’ rights in education bill. It was about prohibiting sex-change operations on minors,” DeSantis said. “They do puberty blockers, they do irreversible—talk to [detransitioner] Chloe Cole; she went through this.”

“That is what Nikki Haley opposed,” the Florida governor added. “She said the law shouldn’t get involved in that, and I just ask you, if you’re somebody who’s going to be president of the United States, and you can’t stand up against child abuse, how are you going to be able to stand up for anything?”

“I never said that,” she responded. “I said that if you have to be 18 to get a tattoo, you should have to be 18 to have anything done to change your gender.”

“You said the law should stay out of it,” DeSantis responded.

During the June interview, Haley criticized pro-transgender policies that allow “biological boys” who identify as girls in girls’ sports locker rooms. Yet, the interviewer asked her, “What care should be on the table when a 12-year-old child in this country assigned female at birth says, ‘Actually, I feel more comfortable living as a boy’?” He asked if the law should allow that.

“Well, I think the law should stay out of it,” Haley said. “This is a job for the parents to handle.”

Haley has previously criticized the idea that children should be allowed to undergo experimental transgender medical interventions before they turn 18.

“I actually said his ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill didn’t go far enough,” she said.

Nowhere in the Florida legislation is the word “gay” ever mentioned. The word “parent” is mentioned 32 times and the word “parental” is mentioned seven times, and the bill, which DeSantis signed into law, focuses on parental notification and parental awareness of what their kids are being taught or exposed to in school.

White House Interns Send Demand Letter to Biden: ‘We Will No Longer Remain Silent’

A group of 40 or more White House interns are demanding that President Joe Biden work toward a permanent cease-fire between the nation of Israel and the terrorist organization Hamas that wants to destroy it completely.

Or maybe not. The letter is signed “40+ White House & EOP Interns for Palestine” but it otherwise anonymous — meaning that there is no evidence that anyone supports its language beyond whoever wrote it.

Nonetheless, NBC News reported on the letter as if it were a legitimate piece of communication worthy of public attention.

“We heed the voices of the American people and call on the Administration to demand a permanent ceasefire,” said the letter, which NBC attributed to multiple “interns” without any external evidence. “We are not the decision makers of today, but we aspire to be the leaders of tomorrow, and we will never forget how the pleas of the American people have been heard and thus far, ignored.”

You can read the letter in its entirety below.

White House Letter by The Western Journal on Scribd

According to the letter, which makes no original arguments but merely recites hackneyed claims about Israel’s “genocidal response” to the barbaric October 7 attack by Hamas while ignoring the fact that Israel warned occupants of Gaza to evacuate prior to its ground war, it was written by interns who are “Palestinian, Jewish, Arab, Muslim, Christian, Black, Asian, Latine, White and Queer.”

The letter also claims to come from interns representing at least ten White House offices, including both President Joe Biden’s and Vice President Kamala Harris’ executive offices.

It is addressed to both Biden and Harris.

Biden as recently as Tuesday showed no sign of budging on his support for Israel, stating simply that Hamas had ended the temporary cease-fire when it refused to release further hostages and accurately describing the terrorist organization as using “rape to terrorize women and girls.”

Reaction to the letter after the article’s author posted a link to it on X was largely dismissive.

The original 1988 charter published when Hamas was formed called for the “complete destruction of Israel as an essential condition for the liberation of Palestine and the establishment of a theocratic state based on Islamic law (Sharia),” according to a summary published in The Atlantic three days after the October 7 attack.

A revised charter issued in 2017 “differs little from its predecessor,” The Atlantic reported, despite its obvious effort to moderate its language to make it more acceptable to the international community.

Climate advocacy groups are pressuring world governments gathered at this year’s United Nation’s COP28 climate conference in Dubai to commit to cutting global food sector emissions, as the conference host promises to put agriculture in the spotlight.

Global food systems- including farming and land use, livestock production, household food consumption and waste, and energy used in the farm and food retail sectors – account for 31% of human-made greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, according to the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

How do you cut down on those emissions? Basically, by doing away with meat and substituting insects as a protein source for the masses.

A full day of the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP), Dec. 10, will be dedicated to food and agriculture – a first for any COP – and the United Arab Emirates host has said the event will be a “game-changer for food systems.”

A “game changer” for your diet.

Not coincidentally, the Biden EPA, which is running amok on several fronts, is promulgating new anti-methane regulations. At Legal Insurrection, Leslie Eastman points out that such regulations, while initially directed toward the oil and gas industries, can easily be deployed against agriculture, a major source of methane.

One thing you can be sure of: the liberals who are telling you to eat insects instead of steaks, pork chops, bacon and hamburgers will do no such thing themselves. Their plan is to drive up the price of meat to the point where you, and most people, can’t afford it, but they can. Meat will be like, say, truffles. And you will never have a chance to vote on this plan. It will be done through regulation, not legislation, and most people (if the liberals get their way) will never understand that it is left-wing government action that has priced them out of the market for meat.

Ms. Eastman embeds this tweet, which sums up not just the hypocrisy–hypocrisy is a minor failing–but the evil intent of global leftists:

“Climate Czar” John Kerry said that flying by private jet to a climate conference was “the only choice for somebody like me.” Sure. Eating steak is the only choice for somebody like Kerry, too–someone rich who has scarcely earned an honest dollar in his life, but who has lived on the public largesse and married many millions. You, on the other hand, are not “somebody like me.” Crickets and mealworms are said to be nutritious–and, more important, low in global warming emissions!

BREAKING: Nevada’s Democrat Attorney General Announces Felony Charges Against Trump 2020 Alternate Electors

Last month it was reported Nevada’s Democrat Attorney General Aaron Ford was quietly investigating Trump’s 2020 alternate electors.

AG Ford on Wednesday announced charges against 6 Trump 2020 alternate electors.

Six Trump electors were indicted on felony charges by a grand jury in the Eighth Judicial District Court in Nevada.

“When the efforts to undermine faith in our democracy began after the 2020 election, I made it clear that I would do everything in my power to defend the institutions of our nation and our state,” Aaron Ford said in a statement. “We cannot allow attacks on democracy to go unchallenged. Today’s indictments are the product of a long and thorough investigation, and as we enter into litigation, I am confident that our judicial system will see justice done.”

“Among those charged are some of the top officials from the Nevada Republican Party, including Nevada Republican Party Chairman Michael McDonald, Nevada Republican Party National Committeeman Jim DeGraffenreid, Clark County Republican Party Chairman Jesse Law and Storey County Clerk Jim Hindle, as well as Republican operatives Shawn Meehan and Eileen Rice.” ABC News reported.

“Each of the defendants have been charged with felonies including offering a false instrument for filing, offering a forged instrument, and offering a false instrument titled “Certificate of the Votes of the 2020 Electors from Nevada” to the President of the Senate; the Archivist of the United States; the Nevada Secretary of State; and the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.” the outlet said.

In December 2020, Republican electors in Nevada cast ballots for Donald Trump.

Nevada cast procedural votes for President and Vice President to preserve the Trump campaign’s legal challenges.

The Trump campaign asked Trump electors to cast their votes as litigation makes its way through the system as we saw in the 1960 election with Nixon vs Kennedy.  You can read more here.

When the Democrats cast alternate electors it’s called ‘dueling electors.’ When the Republicans cast alternate electors it’s called ‘fake electors’ and indictments come down from crooked Democrat attorneys general.

Democrat prosecutors in other states are also targeting Trump’s alternate electors.

In July Democrat Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel criminally charged 16 dueling ‘Trump electors’ in the state’s 2020 election.

Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis recently indicted three of Trump’s alternate electors in Georgia as part of her RICO and conspiracy case against Trump.

Arizona’s Democrat Attorney General Kris Mayes admitted last week she is investigating Trump’s 2020 alternate electors from Arizona.

Ukraine’s Zelensky Running out of Time While Russia Motors On

The news out of Ukraine late today is dire for Volodomyr Zelenksy. General Zaluzhny reportedly gave him the Clint Eastwood threat, “Go ahead punk; make my day. According to a Ukrainian Telegram channel:

Zelensky demanded that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Zaluzhny, resign of his own free will or due to health problems, etc. (to leave for any personal reason in order to avert suspicions that the commander-in-chief is being leaked personally by ZeErmak).

Zaluzhny refused to leave himself, believing that he brought many victories to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, saved many lives of ordinary soldiers and did/will do a lot more good. According to the source, Zaluzhny said directly in army style: “I myself will not leave, if you are personally dissatisfied with me – “fire”, but this will be your personal decision for which you will have to answer.”

Start your countdown clock. If this report is true then Zaluzhny has taken the first step in launching a coup to oust Zelensky (the Penis Piano Player). When you’re in the military and you refuse an order like the one reported above you are in a state of rebellion. You either win or you die/are defeated. As I have written previously, when it comes to a coup I always bet on the guy with the guns. In this case, Zaluzhny has more guns than Zelensky and he and his team have better fire discipline.

All of this is taking place against the back drop of the Republicans growing a spine and refusing to approve Biden’s funding request for Ukraine until that cranky, old man ponies up a solid border protection program. In short, Ukraine will be out of U.S. tax payer dollars to steal in a few weeks and there is no hope of new funding in sight.

Meanwhile, Russia does not know there is a war on. It is discussed on some popular radio shows and the TV, but I have not seen any protests, any signs or any graffiti. I did see one soldier strolling across Red Square and he appeared relaxed, just taking in the sights.

Speaking of sights, Red Square in Moscow is phenomenal. It is a major winter party and the five inches of snow that fell on Sunday simply adds to the festive atmosphere.

I am standing in the middle of Red Square. Lenin’s tomb is to the right of me as you look at the picture. That is St. Basil’s Church over my shoulder. Guess what? No homeless. No one defecating on the cobblestones. No maurading muggers. Just a bunch of people keen on celebrating Christmas.

Americans At Least Pretend to Want Less Government

(John Hinderaker)

As government at all levels continues to grow, as our federal debt spirals out of control, and as the constitutional ideal of limited government fades into history, it is good to know that most Americans at least claim to believe in smaller government. Rasmussen reports:

By a 14-point margin, most voters still prefer a limited-government agenda.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 52% of Likely U.S. voters prefer a smaller government with fewer services and lower taxes. Thirty-eight percent (38%) disagree and prefer a more active government with more services and higher taxes. Another 10% are not sure.

Since 2007, a majority of voters have always claimed to want less government. That majority peaked in 2009 at 70%. Today’s 52% is down slightly from 2021.

One of the reasons why voters say they want smaller government is that they believe government wastes a lot of money. Which is true, of course:

Nearly three-quarters of voters (72%) say government does not spend taxpayer money wisely and carefully. Only 16% believe government does spend taxpayer money wisely and carefully.

Around 15% of Americans are public employees, which no doubt accounts for that 16%. When Center of the American Experiment recently asked Minnesotans, in our quarterly poll, for their best estimate of the percentage of state spending that is wasted, the median answer was 30%.

I used to say that you can vote for conservative governance, but you can’t get it. That seems to be true with respect to the size of government. Most Americans say they want less government, and many politicians run on a platform of restraining spending, yet government continues to grow inexorably, decade after decade. It may be that the fiscal collapse of the federal government is the only thing that will actually lead to a serious cutback in public spending.

Amazon’s Anti-Semitism Problem: Employees Demand Break with Israel

Amazon appears to have a serious problem with anti-Semitism among its employees, and the anti-free speech company is seemingly refusing to acknowledge it. The Washington Post gave airtime to Arab Amazon employees who are demanding that their company break off contracts with Israel. The company avoided any honest admission of the anti-Semitism problem in a statement provided to the outlet, which is owned by Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. “Arab employees at Amazon say harassment is increasing as support grows for their bid to kill a cloud computing contract with Israel,” the Post trumpeted, but no clear evidence of harassment was provided and The Post also provided no acknowledgment that anti-Israel activism could intimidate Jewish employees. Some Amazon employees that attended an “International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People” claimed to feel “intimidated” because, as The Post put it, their “celebration” was interrupted by fliers with images of Israelis kidnapped by Hamas. The Post, meanwhile, also trumpeted quotes from Amazon employees who falsely accused Israel of apartheid (there is no occupation or apartheid). There was no acknowledgment by The Post that Hamas recently violated the ceasefire by firing rockets at Israel, according to The Times of Israel. While Amazon has not broken its contract with Israel’s government cloud computing Project Nimbus, the Big Tech company appeared to avoid honest discussion of its employees apparent anti-Semitism problem in a statement provided to The Post. “We don’t tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind in the workplace,” Amazon spokesman Rob Munoz vaguely rambled. “We investigate all reported incidents of such behavior and take appropriate action against any employee who is found to have violated our policies, up to and including termination.” Regarding Project Nimbus, Munoz babbled that Amazon “is focused on making the benefits of our world-leading cloud technology available to all our customers, wherever they are located.” The petition from 1,700 Amazon employees reportedly screeched that, “Amazon is bolstering the artificial intelligence and surveillance capabilities of the Israeli military used to repress Palestinian activists and impose a brutal siege on Gaza.” “Blame the petition drive if your Amazon packages arrive late. The leaders of this effort probably spent more time gathering signatures than doing their jobs,” said Dan Schneider, MRC Vice President for Free Speech. “We advocate for free speech rights, including for those who spout heinous beliefs. America is a wonderful place and so is Israel. Maybe the petition signers will learn this one day.”  While The Post cited Arab employees claiming that they face mounting harassment, the only evidence provided was the apparent interruption of the solidarity event and argument online about Palestinian jihad. There was no mention of the negativity Jewish employees might be receiving from the anti-Israel activists. “There’s such tension between Arabs and Jewish employees right now,” one employee told The Post. Amazon is not the only Big Tech company with an apparent anti-Semitism problem. Google’s AI Bard refused in October to provide honest information on Hamas. In addition, Google reassigned its head of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Kamau Bobb, after he posted on social media that “Jews have an insatiable appetite for war.” TikTok boasted in October about removing over 500,000 videos about the Hamas-Israel conflict, with the Chinese government-tied app reportedly targeting anti-Hamas videos. MRC Free Speech America Assistant Editor Luis Cornelio contributed to this report. Conservatives are under attack. Call Amazon at 1 (888) 280-4331 and demand that it mirror the First Amendment while providing transparency, clarity on so-called hate speech and equal footing for conservatives. CNN’s Jake Tapper Surprised by Biden’s ‘Stunning Admission’ About His 2024 Campaign

CNN's Jake Tapper is pictured in a still from Tuesday's "The Lead with Jake Tapper."

Joe Biden is even shaking up his cronies at CNN.

The 46th president’s statement to Democrat donors on Tuesday that he might not even be seeking re-election if former President Donald Trump took over the country’s political conversation as soon as the words were out of his mouth.

And at the Democratic bastion of CNN, the effect might not have been what Biden and his re-election team were hoping for.

“If Trump wasn’t running, I’m not sure I’d be running. But we cannot let him win,” Biden said at a Boston fundraiser, according to the New York Post.

To be clear, taking Biden at his word is always hazardous. “Joey Baby” lies about as easily as he breathes when it comes to public speaking, whether it’s because he’s got a deliberate goal in mind or because his addled brains can no longer separate fact from fiction.

In this case, Biden might have been trying to recreate a “Corn Pop” moment for his followers, where the hero of the story is the only one able to take down the Threat to Democracy. Weary old Cincinnatus would just love to go back to his farm, but duty calls.

It was the kind of self-mythologizing Biden has built a career on.

But at CNN anyway, the words had the opposite effect, with longtime host Jake Tapper calling it a “stunning admission” from the president and a panel of Tapper’s guests coming about as close as a CNN guest can to mocking the man in the Oval Office.

“Is this the kind of admission a candidate should be making?” Tapper asked on Tuesday’s “The Lead with Jake Tapper.”

For David Chalian, CNN’s political director, the line — which Tapper called an “incredibly candid admission” — was poorly thought out at best.

While Biden might truly believe he is the best Democrat to beat Trump, Chalian said, the former president hasn’t even sewn up the Republican nomination yet.

“What if Donald Trump is not the Republican nominee? Does that mean President Biden is going to reconsider his re-election effort if that is the key rationale for his running?” he asked.

In the Democratic-progressive-media complex, of course, a different Republican leaders would mean little — leftists would start targeting Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis or former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley with same malevolent ease that Orwell’s omnipotent state decided that “Oceania had always been at war with Eastasia.”

But even CNN apparently sees the possibility that normal American voters might notice something like that.

Meanwhile, Michael LaRosa, a former special assistant in the Biden White House, all but called his old boss a liar outright.

“The guy has been trying to run for president his entire life. I don’t believe he’d be … willingly … um … giving up the presidency on his own if it were not Donald Trump.

But it was Kristen Holmes, CNN national correspondent, who made the most solid — and damning point.

Biden had confirmed in one sentence what Trump has publicly been declaring about Democrats: That their real goal is destroying him personally — and they’re using all the machinery available to corrupt government at the federal and state level to do it.

“This really is part of his argument overall, is that Biden is personally out to get him,” she said.

“That they are, quote-unquote, ‘targeting’ him, with these indictments.

“And that is going to be part of this.”

Trump’s legal prosecutions in New York and Georgia and in federal courts in Florida and Washington will fit as part of the pattern, she said.

“It’s the same argument that he’s been saying for months, which is that Joe Biden is against democracy because he is, quote-unquote, ‘coming after’ him,” Holmes said.

“If these four indictments are Joe Biden using the Justice Department against Donald Trump, his political opponent … I do want to be very clear, when I talk to his supporters at these rallies, they believe it. When he made this speech, they were cheering.”

Yeah, well it doesn’t take a Trump supporter to believe that what’s happening under the Biden Justice Department is the prosecution of a political opponent that would make a banana republic blush. Having a decent pair of eyes, the ability to read English, and an honest, functioning brain will do the trick even without political sympathies.

The propaganda war against the Trump presidency waged by the establishment media and the Democratic Party doesn’t have an equal in American history.

From the time the lies of the Steele dossier started warping the Trump administration’s image even before the swearing-in to the ludicrous first impeachment effort (sparked by Biden corruption), from the eternally tarnished 2020 election itself to the ludicrous second impeachment effort when Trump was out of office, to today, the target has always been Trump the man.

He personifies a movement of Americans enraged and disgusted at the government they have today — and supporters and opponents both know it.

Biden, meanwhile, personifies exactly the government Trump supporters loathe. A man who’s spent his entire life spending other people’s money in the form of taxes, who exercised power without responsibility for decades in the 100-member Senate, and who rode Barack Obama’s coattails to eight years of influence on the world stage that presented his family with only greater grifting opportunities, he is quite possibly the biggest nonentity to ever warp the office.

If Joe Biden — a man whose corruption is becoming clearer by the day — wants Americans to believe Trump is the reason he is fighting for the White House, he’s free to make the pitch.

But as the reaction on CNN showed Tuesday, it’s not the winning message Biden thinks.

GOP Lawmakers Threaten Hunter Biden: Appear at Closed Deposition on December 13th or Face Legal Action

House Republican leaders threatened first son Hunter Biden to appear before the Oversight Committee on December 13 of face legal action.

Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan fired a letter off on Wednesday to Hunter Biden’s attorney Abb Lowell.

The GOP leaders are threatening Hunter with legal action if he does not show up next Wednesday to testify behind closed doors.

BREAKING

Hunter Biden must appear for his deposition on December 13, 2023.

Chairmen James Comer and Jim Jordan will initiate CONTEMPT OF CONGRESS PROCEEDINGS if Hunter Biden does not appear.@RepJamesComer@Jim_Jordan pic.twitter.com/bAPlEkx13q

— Oversight Committee (@GOPoversight) December 6, 2023

Comer and Jordan wrote the Biden team:

“Contrary to the assertions in your letter, there is no “choice” for Mr. Biden to make; the subpoenas compel him to appear before a deposition on December 13. If Mr. Biden does not appear fore his deposition on December 13, 2023, the Committees will inititiate contempt of Congress proceedings.”

The Daily Mail reported:

Republicans who subpoenaed Hunter and James Biden on November 8 as part of the investigation into the Biden family’s shady business dealings have been embroiled in a back-and-forth with Hunter’s attorney Abbe Lowell regarding the nature of the first son’s appearance before their committees.

Hunter Biden told House Republicans last week that he would testify in public any day in December after he was issued a subpoena for a closed-door interview.

But Republicans said they want Hunter to testify on the 13th behind closed doors first, and then would discuss holding a second public hearing, in order to ensure he doesn’t receive ‘special treatment.’

Oversight Chairman James Comer said that Democrats would put on a spectacle with ‘yelling and screaming’ in an open-hearing format.

In a letter obtained by DailyMail.com Wednesday, Comer and Judiciary Chairman Jim Jordan responded to Lowell, demanding Hunter appear behind closed doors or they will take legal action against him.

Democrats arrested Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro after they did not appear before the politicized House Select Committee.

Steve Bannon faces 4 months in prison for skipping the hearing before the sham committee.

This will be nothing new for the Biden family.

Hunter Biden’s first arrest may have been when he was 18. Hunter was arrested on Jersey Shore related to drug charges in 1988 and had his record expunged.

Many years later and after several stops into drug treatment facilities Hunter joined his father the Vice President on a trip to China in 2013 where Hunter — inexperienced and out of place — was able to secure a $1.5 billion from China for private equity fund which he was forming at the time.

A year later in early 2014 Hunter was discharged from the Navy for testing positive for cocaine.

And his trouble with drugs and the law continued for years.

Biden probably forgot that Nelson was the reporter who asked him on June 8 if, based on the investigation from the House Oversight Committee, he accepted bribes and sold out the country. Smart move, Steven.     He then dropped two devastating numbers for Biden amid his reelection campaign (and simply in terms of credibility with the American people): “[P]olling by the Associated Press...shows that almost 70 percent of Americans, including 40 percent of Democrats, believe that you acted either illegally or unethically in regards to your family's business interests.” Given the dozens of liberal media puff pieces and both general and specific allegations of Biden family malfeasance, it’d certainly be higher if weren’t for such a complicit media. At any rate, Nelson then wondered why he’s spent time with so many of his corrupt son and brother’s pals: “Can you explain to the Americans — to Americans, amid this impeachment inquiry, why you interacted with so many of your son and brother’s foreign business associates?” Biden said he would “not...comment on that”, but then did the opposite as he said not only did he “not” meet with any of them, but such accusations are “just a bunch of lies.” Nelson was incredulous: “You didn’t interact with any of their business associates?” Biden stayed pat: “They’re lies. I did not. They’re lies.” Rating: Pants on fire. On September 26, our friends at the Washington Examiner noted that Biden met for a February 2014 lunch with Hunter’s business partners wrapped up in both Mexico and Ukraine. Further, Nelson’s Post explained that, in 2022, Hunter’s business partner Eric Schwerin went to the Obama-Biden White House 19 times.  In February 2014, Joe Biden met with Hunter’s business partners from Kazakhstan, including an oligarch with former Kazakhstan Prime Minister Karim Massimov, who returned to that spot two months later. Speaking of Kazakh businesspeople, Joe also stopped by a dinner with more of them on April 16, 2015 with the group having included an executive with the infamous Ukrainian gas company Burisma. Just on those examples alone, the President’s claims are hogwash. Donald Trump and Tim Walberg Denounce Biden’s Electric Vehicle Mandate

A fired-up lawmaker echoed former President Donald Trump's pledge to get rid of the Biden administration's electric vehicle (EV) mandate during an interview with Fox Business. In a Wednesday interview with The Big Money Show, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-MI) raised the alarm about Biden's plan to force Americans to purchase EVs despite their preference for gasoline cars. “All we’re asking is that people have [a] choice and that choice may be EVs, but don’t mandate it,” Walberg declared, before warning that the plan would make the U.S. more dependent on China. Notably, the lawmaker has proposed legislation to block Biden’s mandate that, as reported by the Wall Street Journal, “would make up two-thirds of car sales in 2023.” Rep. Walberg pointed out that even blue states prefer gasoline vehicles, adding that “less than 2% of Californians” drive electric vehicles, while 89% drive gasoline cars. The Michigan lawmaker added, “The issue here is people are not choosing EVs yet. They don't think they’re affordable. They don’t think they’re attainable. They don’t think they’re reliable and it's not a reality for them. Many people say ‘Give us our choice---when that F-150 Lightning becomes the vehicle that I can use in my marketplace efforts I will use it.’” Rep. Walberg suggested that EVs are not practical for many consumers, due to the limited distance these vehicles can travel on a single charge.   The congressman also noted that Americans should be wary of dependence on supply chains stretching to foreign countries post-COVID. “China produces 78% of all of the component parts that go into a battery for an EV,” Rep. Walberg said.  Rep. Walberg’s comments follow Trump’s promise during a town hall on Hannity on Dec. 5 to “get rid of this ridiculous electric car mandate,” possibly on his second day back in office. Trump also criticized electric vehicles over high prices and limited driving range during his conversation with Fox News host Sean Hannity. Conservatives are under attack! Victor Reacts: Democrat School Board President Sworn in on Stack of Explicit Books (VIDEO)

Absolutely disgusting.

As reported by the Gateway Pundit, a Democratic school board president in Pennsylvania was sworn in on a stack of explicit material that is akin to child pornography.

While most newly elected officials choose a bible for this type of occasion, incumbent Smith brought a stack of books to the ceremony instead.

In a full virtue-signaling display, Smith placed her hand on the stack that included the book “Flamer,” which contains sexually explicit content and depicts naked teenage boys.

Fox News reports:

“Flamer,” written by award-winning author and artist Mike Curato. Released in 2020, Curato’s work is a semi-autobiographical graphic novel set in 1995. It tells the story of a character who is bullied at a Boy Scouts summer camp for “acting in a manner considered stereotypical of gay men.” The graphic novel includes characters discussing pornography, erections, masturbation, penis size, and an illustration that depicts naked teenage boys.

Four new Democratic members were also elected, giving the board a Democratic majority.

The same day as the swearing-in, the newly elected members voted to freeze several policies related to library books that passed last year.

One policy allowed residents to challenge books and set criteria for the selection and removal of a book.

Another policy banned teachers from engaging in “advocacy activities” in the classroom.

Democrats have poured millions of dollars of dark money into Pennsylvania in recent years.  Parents in PA are, unfortunately, learning what that means for their children.

This is the most recent example, among many, highlighting the insanity that is corrupting our public schools. Children deserve to have a quality education, and teachers that are there to teach- not force political ideology down their throats.

The indoctrination is no longer being kept in the shadows, instead it seems to have become a competition. Every week a more absurd story comes out about a woke teacher or administrator that is sacrificing the education of children in exchange for social justice brownie points.

“Don’t Laugh, Man!” – Joe Biden Tells Brazen Lie About Wanting to Play Lacrosse and Football at the Same Time (VIDEO)

Another lie.

Joe Biden on Wednesday delivered remarks at the White House Tribal Nations Summit at the Department of Interior.

Biden told a brazen lie about wanting to play lacrosse and football at the same time.

“I wanted to play lacrosse, but you had to choose between lacrosse and football. You couldn’t play both in the same season. I was the runner-up in the state scoring championship! Don’t laugh, man!” Biden said.

Football is a fall sport and lacrosse is a spring sport.

Joe Biden is a pathological liar.

Per Zach Parkinson: Archmere Academy (Biden’s high school) didn’t have a boy’s lacrosse team until 1993, 32 years after he graduated.

Just another bizarre lie with zero basis in fact.

The announcements include the first ever co-stewardship agreement with the Department of Commerce (DOC), more than 70 co-stewardship agreements with the Department of the Interior (DOI), and over 120 new co-stewardship and co-management agreements with the Department of Agriculture (USDA),which also tripled its investment in these agreements to over $68 million.

Department of Energy (DOE) and DOI will announce a Secretarial Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that establishes a collaborative framework to manage Rattlesnake Mountain or “Laliik,” located within the Hanford nuclear site in Washington.

MOUs to Support Clean Energy Transitions for the Hopi Tribe and Navajo Nation. DOE will announce two new MOUs signed by DOE, DOI, USDA, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Federal Permitting Improvement Steering Council, and the Departments of Education, Transportation, and Labor that create structured support for the Hopi Tribe and amends the existing Navajo Nation MOU with Federal agencies to help both Tribes and their communities transition to clean energy.

Announcing: “Gateway: Beyond the Headlines” on Vigilant News Network – More Information Coming Soon…

Vigilant News Network (VNN) is a soon-to-be launched news outlet that will eventually offer 17 hours per day of – mostly live – news programming, seven days a week.

VNN is being built out from the Vigilant News digital site, which has seen rapid growth since its launch less than three months ago. VNN has invested significant resources into building out a world-class app that will allow viewers to stream VNN on AppleTV, Firestick, Roku, our website or wherever you stream your favorite programming.

VNN’s flagship show is Gateway:  Beyond the Headlines.

Gateway: Beyond the Headlines is produced in coordination with The Gateway Pundit, one of the largest and most influential conservative news sites in America today. The Gateway Pundit will be distributing Gateway: Beyond the Headlines on its well-read news site and the show will also be distributed among our growing network of digital partners.

In an era of AI, spin, distortion, and, straight up fake news, it is difficult for the discerning consumer of media to know what they can or can’t trust. We at VNN vow to change that. We vow to do better.

We know the American people have lost faith in the media, and rightfully so. We know the average American treats the media with scorn, and that scorn is duly earned. But the truth is that we need the media. We need a functioning media – committed to delivering facts – to inform American voters, American citizens, and American consumers. We trust the American people to decide what is right – it is not the job of the media to tell people what they should believe, it is the job of the media to inform.

“We are absolutely thrilled at the opportunity to partner with one of the most trusted voices in media in Gateway Pundit,” said Chris Barron, CEO of VNN. “Gateway’s Beyond the Headlines will be must-watch TV for anyone looking for the truth unshackled from the corrupting force of woke corporate advertisers.”

BANG! Latest Gun-Ban Scheme Gets Shot Down in Congress

‘Democrats are demanding that the American people give up their liberty’

This article originally appeared on WND.com

Guest by post by Bob Unruh

Republicans in the U.S. Senate have shot down Chuck Schumer’s latest attack on the Second Amendment, blocking his attempt to adopt an “assault weapons” ban and universal background checks.

The Hill reported that Sen. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., objected to demands by Schumer, D-N.Y., the Senate majority leader, to use unanimous consent to adopt the changes.

Schumer had insisted that what he called the “scourge” of gun violence is a national crisis, and “The American people are sick and tired of enduring one mass shooting after another. They’re sick and tired of vigil and moments of silence for family, friends, classmates, coworkers.”

The plan, originally brought up by the late Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., would have outlawed semiautomatic rifles with pistol grips, forward grips and folding or telescoping stocks, all of which are common on weapons for hunting or for self-defense.

It also would have outlawed several other features on weapons.

The Hill reported Barrasso explained to supporting Democrats that their plan would violate the Second Amendment and “deprive law-abiding gun owners of an important liberty,” the report said.

“Americans have a constitutional right to own a firearm. Every day, people across Wyoming responsibly use their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms,” he said. “Democrats are demanding that the American people give up their liberty.”

He also noted that, as often happens, Democrats are trying to ban weapons “because of the way they look.”

It was Sen. Chris Murphy, D-Conn., who later wanted unanimous consent for a law regarding universal background checks.

He claimed America doesn’t have more mental illness or angrier people, or spend less on law enforcement, as justification for his request.

“We have more guns and we are much more permissive in this country about allowing felons, dangerous people, to get their hands on guns,” he said.

The New York Daily News had explained Schumer was trying to “resurrect” a ban that expired in the law almost 20 years ago.

The report noted how unlikely its success actually was.

“Schumer’s push to pass the bill might charitably be described as a Hail Mary: Democrats hold a 51-to-49 advantage in the Senate, and far more modest gun safety efforts have run aground in the chamber and in the Republican-ruled House.”

Even after the Sandy Hook school tragedy in 2012, the report said, the “Senate skewered a bid for a new assault weapons ban, with 40 votes in favor and 60 against.”

Schumer, however, has continued pushing for such a ban, probably at least partly because it’s been a goal of Joe Biden’s administration.

His scheme would have banned the production and sale of 205 variations of weapons.
