A basketball coach at a Vermont private school that was banned by the state’s schools association after it forfeited a game last year to avoid playing against a boy who claims to be a girl is defending his actions despite the extreme punishment by ultra-woke school officials.
Chris Goodwin, coach of the girls basketball team for Mid Vermont Christian School in White River Junction, Vermont, decided his team would not play in a Feb. 21, 2023, state playoff game.
Goodwin made the decision because the opponent had a boy playing on its team who claimed to be a transgender girl. Goodwin said it was both unfair and unsafe for his girls to play.
At the time, Mid Vermont Christian Head of School Vicky Fogg wrote in an email to the Valley News newspaper, which covers the White River Junction area, that Goodwin forfeited the game because the transgender player “jeopardizes the fairness of the game and the safety of our players.”
“Allowing biological males to participate in women’s sports sets a bad precedent for the future of women’s sports in general,” Fogg wrote.
But the school was soon set upon by the Vermont Principals Association, which accused Mid Vermont Christian of violating state laws that demand that schools allow transgender athletes to pick whatever team they feel most comfortable playing for at any given time.
The principals association banned Mid Vermont Christian from participating in all VPA-sanctioned activities, which include not only athletics but also extracurricular competitions such as drama and debate competitions and science and math fairs.
Mid-Vermont Christian, in turn, has filed a lawsuit against the association, claiming “unconstitutional religious discrimination and hostility.” In addition to the Vermont Principals Association, defendants named by the lawsuit include the leaders of the Vermont Agency of Education and the state Board of Education.
The lawsuit claims the ban prevents Mid Vermont Christian from participation in the state’s “tuitioning” program — a form of school vouchers that pays student tuition at private schools — and the state dual enrollment program, which allows high school students to take earn college credits.
The stakes, in other words, are higher than a basketball game.
Goodwin appeared on “Fox & Friends” on Monday to talk about his experience and to defend his actions.
“I’ve got four daughters. I’ve coached them all at one point in their careers playing high school basketball,” Goodwin said as he criticized the idea of boys playing as girls.
“I’ve also filled in for the boys’ coach when he can’t make a practice, and I run those practices, and boys just play at a different speed, a different force … than the girls play. It’s a different game.”
Goodwin explained that he felt it would be “irresponsible” to let his girls team play against a male and added that it would be “asking for an injury” from the stronger and faster male player.
No school should be punished for believing in biology.

— Alliance Defending Freedom (@ADFLegal) February 26, 2024
In a brusque, March 13, 2023, memo to Mid Vermont Christian, the principals’ association said the school did not meet the group’s commitment to “racial,” “gender-fair” and “gender identity” policies.
“Thus, Mid Vermont Christian school is ineligible to participate in VPA activities going forward,” the memo states.
In a statement to CNN after Mid Vermont Christian filed its lawsuit in November, the governing body said the school “has every right to teach its beliefs to its own students. It cannot, however, impose those beliefs on students from other public and private schools; deny students from other schools the opportunity to play; or hurt students from other schools because of who those students are.”
In its lawsuit, Mid Vermont Christian argues it has been “irreparably harmed by being denied participation” in state sports competitions and is “losing out on playing competitive sports as well as academic competition.”
“The VPA won’t even allow the School and its students to participate in co-ed academic competitions like the Geo-Bee, Science and Math Fair, and Debate and Forensics League-all because the School believes biological boys are boys and cannot affirm otherwise,” the lawsuit states.
“The State is entitled to its own views,” it argues, “but it is not entitled, nor is it constitutional, to force private, religious schools across the state to follow that orthodoxy as a condition to participating in Vermont’s tuitioning program and the State’s athletic association.”
Goodwin is unrepentant over the forfeiture.
“After discussions with the administration and our players and parents, we decided that instead of going against our religious beliefs that … there are differences between male and female, we are created differently, we decided to forfeit that game and withdraw from the tournament,” he told “Fox & Friends.”
Ryan Tucker, an attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom who is representing Mid Vermont Christian, accused the principals association of trying to silence dissent.
“The state is basically attempting to purge individuals like Chris and other family members in the state, from public discourse, from the ability … to speak out … on issues of significant, public concern,” he said on “Fox & Friends.”
He accused the state of failing to consider “the biological reality” and the health and safety risks to female athletes.
“We’re very confident that we’re going to prevail,” he said.

TV producer and former daytime talk show powerhouse Oprah Winfrey has left the board of weight-loss company WeightWatchers after revealing that she uses drugs as a “maintenance” plan to maintain her weight.
Winfrey admitted last year that she began using pharmaceutical drugs and not just dieting programs to maintain her weight loss and to avoid “yo yoing” up and down in weight, CNBC reported.
Winfrey said, she initially had “shame about it” but is now accepting the drug use and openly admitting it.
“I now use it as I feel I need it, as a tool to manage not yo-yoing,” she told People magazine.
“The fact that there’s a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift,” Winfrey added.
This month, Winfrey announced that she will not run for re-election to the board off WeightWatchers and will leave the company. It was not revealed if her admission to the use of pharmaceutical drugs as part of her weight maintenance regime is the reason for leaving, CNBC reported.
Winfrey acquired a significant stake in the company after using the company’s weight loss program. She became a board member in 2015 and has been an active promoter of WeightWatchers, appearing in many commercials and print advertisements for the company.
But now, Winfrey said she is leaving the board and even donating her sizable shares to the National Museum of African American History and Culture.
Oprah owns about 10 percent of the company’s stock and is their single largest shareholder, ABC News reported.
Shares in WeightWatchers tumbled by as much as 25 percent in trading after the news of Winfrey’s departure broke.
In her announcement of her decision to leave the company and divest her interests, Winfrey said, “I look forward to continuing to advise and collaborate with WeightWatchers and CEO Sima Sistani in elevating the conversation around recognizing obesity as a chronic condition, working to reduce stigma, and advocating for health equity.”
“Weight health is a critically important topic and one that needs to be addressed at a broader scale. I plan to participate in a number of public forums and events where I will be a vocal advocate in advancing this conversation,” the TV mogul added.
“In addition, I have decided to donate my interest in WeightWatchers to the National Museum of African American History and Culture. I have been a long-time supporter of this worthy organization, and I am proud to continue my support.”
WeightWatchers said it was supporting of Winfrey’s decision to leave the weight-loss company.
“Ms. Winfrey is making the donation to support the NMAAHC’s goal to promote and highlight the contributions of African Americans and to eliminate any perceived conflict of interest around her taking weight-loss medications. In addition, Ms. Winfrey intends to donate the proceeds from any future exercises of her WW stock options to NMAAHC,” WeightWatchers said in a statement.
The company, though, has been on a downward trend over the last few years.
On Wednesday, WeightWatchers released its fourth-quarter report from 2023 and revealed that it lost $88.1 million, more than twice the loss during the same period in 2022.

Former liberal Fox News bomb thrower Geraldo Rivera jumped to his X account to denigrate Americans who are worried about illegal aliens swamping our border.
In a Tuesday X post, Rivera, who was fired from Fox News’s “The Five” last year, scoffed, “Many of the folks most concerned with illegal immigrant aliens have never actually seen one.”
Many of the folks most concerned with illegal immigrant aliens have never actually seen one.
— Geraldo Rivera (@GeraldoRivera) March 6, 2024
This idea is absurd on its face.
Joe Biden’s illegal alien crisis has brought more illegal aliens into the country than the entire legal population of Arizona (and 36 other states).
Even back in 2021, during Biden’s first year in office, his open-door policies brought in more illegals than the populations of 11 states.
And by last year, that number of states grew to an astounding 22 states, according to the Daily Signal.
It is the height of lunacy for Rivera to imagine that that many illegals can flood the country and live among us undetected and unobserved to the point where “many folks” in America would never have encountered an illegal alien.
Indeed, no matter where you live in this vast country, you will meet them. In stores, on street corners, in our airports, in our schools, in our big cities where left-wing mayors are giving them free housing, everywhere you go in every corner of the nation, one has ample opportunity to encounter someone who is here illegally. And if you live in a border state, or in a big city, you couldn’t avoid meeting illegals if you wanted to.
Rivera didn’t get to push out his nonsense without some blowback, though. Many took to social media to blast him for his absurd characterization of those who oppose illegal immigration.
X user SirWinston had the best reply, of course, writing, “Laken Riley saw one. It was the last thing she saw. Say her name Geraldo.”

— SirWinston (@SirWinston85) March 6, 2024
Laken Riley is the vivacious, 22-year-old Georgia coed who was allegedly murdered by a dangerous illegal alien who the Biden administration allowed to walk freely into the country with no repercussions.
X user Kevin Dalton posted the headlines from stories about illegals raping and murdering Americans. Dalton added, “Well let’s meet a few, shall we?” and added a link to his previous posts with the headlines.
Another X user blasted Rivera as “moronic.”
“You are full of BS and arrogance. Read what you just posted. It’s moronic,” she wrote. “Physically knowing whether someone is here illegally or not has absolutely no bearing on witnessing what their presence is doing to our country. Crime is up everywhere, taxpayers in large democrat cities are paying the most — their state and city taxes are going up to house, feed, clothe and provide medical care — all free. Most of those who came in illegally will never make a contribution to our country. They will be forever be dependent upon American citizens to continue to support them financially.”
“Prove your support for them. Invite a family — not vetted to come live with you to showcase what a wonderful citizen you are. Put your money where your big mouth is at,” she demanded.
You are full of BS and arrogance. Read what you just posted. It’s moronic. Physically knowing whether someone is here illegally or not has absolutely no bearing on witnessing what their presence is doing to our country. Crime is up everywhere, taxpayers in large democrat…

Rivera has been promoting this soft on illegal immigration ideology for years. Back in 2007, he and former Fox News star Bill O’Reilly got in an intense argument about illegal aliens and the impact they have on this country.
Geraldo Rivera has been soft on illegals for decades. And he doesn’t seem to care how many Americans pay the price in the meantime.

Video has gone viral of two zookeepers who unexpectedly found themselves being chased by a massive gorilla and were fortunate enough to come away from the harrowing experience alive.
The incident can also be said to show the power of prayer in action.
The video, which was first posted to TikTok on Thursday, shows a huge and powerful, 34-year-old silverback gorilla named Elmo saunter into an enclosure in which two workers were standing at the World of Primates exhibit at the Fort Worth Zoo in Texas, Fox News reported.
In the video, which quickly exceeded 14 million views on TikTok, a female zoo worker can be seen running in abject fear as the great ape chases after her.
Male Gorilla charges 2 zoo keepers at the Fort Worth zoo pic.twitter.com/3i6tFe0leS
— Real Untold Story (@RealUntoldStory) March 8, 2024
The video was shared on the internet by a man who said he was a security guard responding to the incident back in October 2023, USA Today reported.
A second zoo worker is seen in the video finally getting out of the gorilla enclosure when Elmo went far enough away from the exit.
The video also included shocked people in the viewing area who can be heard openly praying for the lives of the two zoo workers.
A woman in the video is heard praying for the workers.
“God help her. God help her. God help her,” the woman can be heard saying. “God protect her,” the woman adds several times.
Then a man appeals to God, praying, “Please protect her.”
Meanwhile, the worker is seen pensively standing behind a tree, keeping the tree between herself and the gorilla.
Finally, the zookeepers are finally able to get to the exit and leave the dangerous situation.
As the last one escapes peril, zoo visitors can be heard praising God and saying, “Oh, my gosh. Thank you, Lord!”
The zoo put out a statement after the video went viral.
“Thankfully, there was no physical contact between keepers and gorilla, and all staff and animals are safe,” zoo spokesperson Avery Elander said on Friday.
Elander added that it was an error on behalf of the staff that the gorilla was in the enclosure when the workers walked in to bring out the animal’s food.
“The zookeepers work with and train these animals every day and thanks to their knowledge and expertise, they navigated the situation calmly and were able to exit the yard safely,” Elander added.
It most certainly did not hurt to pray for the workers’ safety, either. No amount of “training” can keep an animal as powerful and willful as Elmo from doing whatever he wants. That he somehow decided not to pursue the workers is something to be thankful for, because if he had caught them, they would not have stood a chance.

Insiders are leaking that a top White House official has engaged in unprofessional conduct but that his position as first lady Jill Biden’s top aide has made him “untouchable,” according to a new report.
According to the New York Post, “sources with firsthand knowledge” say Biden’s top aide, Anthony Bernal, the openly gay man who is famously being tagged as the first lady’s “work husband,” has engaged in bullying of employees and verbally and sexually harassed colleagues for more than a decade.
Despite this, the report states, not a thing has been done about it all.
One claim, for instance maintains that Bernal has repeatedly talked about comparing the penis sizes of those in his office, according to the report published Tuesday.
The paper reported that two sources had said that Bernal, 50, has repeatedly joked that the size of a man’s penis is indicated by the size of the man’s thumb.
Bernal has also allegedly made fun the genital sizes of other office personnel and even Secret Service agents.
“It is to make people uncomfortable and to have power over them,” the Post quoted one source as saying.
“It is Me Too — classic Me Too,” the source said, referring to the anti-harassment movement that sprang up several years ago.
Yet another source told the Post that Bernal often uses accusations of small penis size to “jab” someone, and in another case commented on a staffer’s “bulge in his khakis.”
This behavior has also been going on for years, the paper added, well before Joe Biden became president.
“It was a lot of inappropriate remarks,” the Post wrote quoted a source as saying “Talking about other people’s attractiveness and speculating about their sex lives at very weird moments … That’s actually sexual harassment.”
The paper found many other insiders who agreed with the claims that Bernal often makes inappropriate sexual comments.
“I have heard him say inappropriate things about people’s sexuality or pry inappropriately into people’s personal lives,” one staffer said, according to the Post report. “I heard him ask if people are gay all the time.”
Another stated, according to the Post, that, “I could think of more than one instance where he pontificated on whether someone was gay or not or said, ‘They are definitely gay.'”
The paper said it found “almost a dozen” current or former staffers who agreed that Bernal regularly engages in unprofessional behavior in the workplace.
Many felt it was “hypocritical” of Biden to keep Bernal in such an important position, considering how the Democrats place such a premium on combating harassment. Especially since Joe Biden took office claiming that he would fire anyone “on the spot” if he discovered that any staffer “disrespected” a colleague.
“They talk a big game about integrity, decency, and kindness but when you work for the Bidens, you experience anything but that,” a source told the Post.
“They choose to surround themselves with bullies who run around the White House like mean girls, making the president and first lady look like phonies to everyone in Washington because everyone on the inside talks about what happens there on the outside.”
Another source echoed that, according to the Post.
“It reflects poorly on the president and the first lady,” the source said.
The Post’s story is not the first time Bernal’s behavior has been in the public eye. It was also mentioned in a story at Politico back in 2021. But it does not appear that anything has ever been done about it.
The insiders also said that they doubt anything will ever be done about it because Bernal has the ear of the first lady.
Indeed, as Politico pointed out, in her 2019 memoir, Jill Biden gave Bernal an entire paragraph thanking him for all he has done for her.
“A special thank-you to ANTHONY BERNAL, who spent countless hours, holidays, and weekends to push me to write,” she wrote. “He knows how much I love him and respect him.”
That kind of sentiment is the problem, a source told the Post.
“I don’t think people understand how much power and influence he has. The problem is, it is career-ending for anyone to talk on the record for these stories,” the source said, according to the newspaper.
In a statement to the Post on Monday, White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients said:
“The president and first lady have full confidence in Anthony’s character, as do I. His many fans at the White House know him to be both gracious and tough, holding himself up to the highest standards, with a heart dedicated to public service. It is disappointing that he is the target of unfounded attacks from unnamed sources.”
For his part, according to the Post, Bernal issued a separate statement saying: “These unfounded attacks are not true.”
Bernal has been in the Biden orbit since 2008 when Joe was elected vice president under Barack Obama. And before that, Bernal worked on Al Gore’s vice presidential staff.
Ultimately, Bernal’s reputation as a serial abuser of staffers and the culture of fear he has instilled in the White House has made it hard to get new people to work for Jill Biden’s office, according to the Post.
“They couldn’t care less how staff is treated because staff is totally disposable to them. They’ve had a revolving door of staff catering to them for their entire adult lives,” an insider told the Post.
A quote from a former White House official published by the Post could summarize the whole saga:
“He’s seen as untouchable due to his relationship with the first lady,” the former official said. “Staff have been told he’s ‘protected’ by Jill or that they should take it up with him directly.”

Lawmakers in Florida are finally addressing the problem of squatting, one of the most egregious property rights violations going on in America today.
This month, both chambers of the state Legislature unanimously passed a bill allowing law enforcement to immediately remove squatters without waiting weeks or months for a case to move through the courts, according to WJXT-TV.
If signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, the measure would go into effect on July 1.
The move comes as a relief to Florida property owner Patti Peeples, who dealt with squatters last year.
“It gives me a real feeling of positive hope that we still have the ability to discuss challenges in our society and work with our legislatures in a bipartisan way,” she told WJXT.
Peeples shared her story during a state Senate Criminal Justice Committee hearing in February.
“Imagine for a moment that you leave from your day of serving the citizens of Florida as a senator and you return to your home,” she said, according to Fox News. “But when you walk in, there are strangers sitting on your sofa, watching your TV, eating your food.”
“You ask who they are and what they are doing, and they tell you that they have rented this house and present you with a lease.”
It took Peeples over a month to get the law to evict the squatters, and in the meantime the crooks caused tens of thousands of dollars worth of damage to her home.
“At the crux of this issue is just basic unfairness,” she told WJXT. “If we don’t have the right to inhabit our own property, then what kind of world are we living in?”
The bill also makes it a misdemeanor to present a fake lease and a felony to cause property damage in excess of $1,000 while squatting.
Naturally, liberals claimed before the bill’s passage that it would give “bad-acting landlords” the power to throw people on the streets, WUSF-AM reported.
“We see the language that says it’s limited to folks who are staying in the property against the will of the owner,” said Cynthia Laurent, a “housing justice campaigner” with the group Florida Rising. “But what we know to be true is that a process that’s so expedited won’t even allow a person the time to verify that they’re authorized to be there.”
However, the bill also protects legitimate tenants, allowing them to sue property owners if they are wrongfully evicted. Florida Rising told WJXT it is now “neutral” on the bill’s passage.
Without a doubt, something needed to be done. Squatting is a growing problem all across the country.
These people willfully move into somebody else’s home and defiantly occupy the property until the slow-acting legal system tosses them out. Then they just move on to the next home and start the clock all over again.
One expert recently warned that once the millions of illegals who have flooded our country realize that they can just live for free on other people’s property before eventually being kicked out, the problem will only get worse.
Florida legislators are doing the right thing by addressing this via the law. And it’s long past time other states did so as well.

Six middle-school students in Massachusetts face “hate” charges for participating in an online chat thread that allegedly included discussion of a “mock slave auction.”
The students are between the ages of 13 and 14 and are from Southwick (Massachusetts) Regional School, according to WBTS.
The “hate speech and race-based bullying” allegedly occurred on Feb. 8, Hampden District Attorney Anthony Gulluni said during a press conference Thursday.
Gulluni added that his office became aware of the alleged racist online discussion on Snapchat and began its investigation a week later.
With the probe concluded, Gulluni said he is pursuing criminal charges against the teens for engaging in the “hateful, racist online chat that included heinous language, threats and a mock slave auction.”
The six students are being charged with “threat to commit a crime,” and two are being hit with additional charges of interference with civil rights. One also is facing a witness interference charge, according to WBTS.
Gulluni said he can’t offer more details about what the alleged racist teens said in the Snapchat thread or divulge the identities of the teens because they are minors.
But the district attorney said the students made racist comments and slurs, talked of violence toward people of color, and posted derogatory images and videos. Gulluni said the teens also joked about putting two students from their school on a slave auction.
As WBUR noted, Snapchat is set up to automatically delete what is posted to the service a short time after posting, but participants have the option to save the chat to their personal accounts.
Gulluni, WBUR reported, said he met with the victims and their families during the investigation.
“Hatred and racism have no place in this community. And where this behavior becomes criminal, I will ensure that we act,” Gulluni said in a statement.
“There is no question that the alleged behavior of these six juveniles is vile, cruel, and contemptible. Seeing it, and facing the reality that these thoughts, that this ugliness, can exist within middle school students, here, in this community, in 2024 is discouraging, unsettling and deeply frustrating.”
Gulluni said he is working to launch a unit that will develop an anti-hate and anti-bullying curriculum for the Southwick schools.
The district attorney also said he intends to contact State Attorney General Andrea Campbell’s office to develop more programs to combat racism in schools.
“We have had conversations with leadership of the Massachusetts State Police, which recently announced a new unit called HART, which stands for Hate Crimes Awareness and Response Team,” Gulluni explained.
“We will enlist their support and resources to jointly instruct police departments and school personnel across Western Massachusetts on best practices regarding hate crimes and bullying within schools.
“While I am optimistic that these initiatives will have a meaningful influence, I implore everyone to take their own steps to fight racism and bullying,” Gullani said in the statement, per WBTS. “We have a responsibility to call out ignorance and hate when we witness it. We have a responsibility to promote tolerance and empathy. And when we accept this duty we all have a powerful impact on our communities.”
Gullani concluded:
“I hope that our collective efforts to grow empathy, compassion and tolerance will overcome the forces of apathy, malice and intolerance. This is not an issue exclusive to a place, an age group or to a particular race. This is a universal issue that we must face as one unified group. Let’s move forward with hope, resiliency and commitment to justice.”

Mike Rowe, famed as TV’s “dirty jobs” expert, is reacting to an offer of what just could be his dirtiest job yet. But is this one a step too far, even for Rowe?
The host of the reality TV show “Dirty Jobs” joined CNN on Thursday to confirm that he found out that he is being considered as a vice presidential running mate by independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Rowe joked that it’s a “weird world.”
“It’s a weird world, man,” Rowe quipped, “I mean — you’re walking through an airport and you’re minding your own business when you look up and there you are with a wrestler and a motivational speaker, and a star athlete,” he said chuckling about seeing his photo on CNN as one among several of those who were being considered to run as Kennedy’s VP.
“Yeah, he called. Actually, I ran into him about six months ago in Dallas, totally serendipitously, and we exchanged information and he reached out about a month ago,” Row said, according to the New York Post.
Rowe didn’t just hear about it second-hand, either. He also confirmed that he actually had a meeting with RFK Jr.
Kennedy was reportedly interested in hearing more about Rowe’s charitable work and his mikeroweWORKS foundation, and about vocational training for American youth.
“At some point, he asked me if I would ever consider running for public office, and I spit my coffee back into my cup and I said, ‘Seriously?’” Rowe said.
But he also noted that their conversation was a “serious conversation” and that it was a “gratifying” one, as well.
“For the first time in my life I found myself having, kind of a really serious conversation about what that even means,” he said of the discussion about the VP slot. “It was not expected, but ultimately, really kind of gratifying.”
“…he asked me if I’d ever consider running for public office, and I spit my coffee back into my cup and said, ‘Seriously?’”

— Erin Burnett OutFront (@OutFrontCNN) March 15, 2024
Rowe added that Kennedy is “very gracious” and “very smart” and also “very direct.
“I had no idea what I was walking into,” Rowe continued, “but his team was there, and they were also super inquisitive. They listened more than they talked.”
“It was a very friendly, very casual conversation, but he’s serious. And when he talks about the things he’s serious about, he leans in,” Rowe explained. “And it’s hard not to listen.
“He’s serious about the debt. He doesn’t want to see $34 trillion get to 50. He believes if it does, the country can’t service it, party’s over,” Rowe said of their conversation.
“He’s serious about ending forever wars, he’s serious about waging a war, really, on chronic disease, and diabetes, and things like that,” Rowed continued. “We don’t agree on everything, that’s for sure. And when that became apparent, he just laughed and said, ‘Look, I don’t want to surround myself with yes men and yes women. I want people who care about the country, I want people who’ll tell me the truth as they see it, and let the chips fall.’”
“He said a lot of stuff that was good to hear, frankly,” Rowe said.
The TV host also spoke to what qualifies someone to be “qualified” to be vice president?
“But what really qualifies a man or woman to run for president or vice president?” he asked rhetorically. “I think you gotta be 35, I think you need to have been born in this country. After that, I don’t know about qualifications. I guess we could talk experience, and judgment, and temperament, and all of those other things, and everybody gets to weigh and measure everybody, and put it all under a microscope and decide.”
Rowe is exactly right, of course. The U.S. Constitution only requires someone to be 35 and born as a natural citizen of this country to run for president or vice president. Our founders did not want the country restricted from searching far and wide for our leaders, and they for sure didn’t want our chief executives to have to be from any professional political class.
Mike Rowe would make a fine vice president. And why shouldn’t he?

A former U.S. attorney who resigned last year amid a DOJ investigation into unethical conduct and who was once a top candidate touted by Joe Biden and Democrats, now has even more trouble coming her way.
Former U.S. Attorney Rachael Rollins was forced to resign in disgrace in May from her position as a U.S. attorney for Massachusetts after the Department of Justice launched a corruption investigation into her, WBUR reported at the time. And now, a year later, she has lost her law license.
Rollins’s beginning was far more auspicious when in July of 2021, Joe Biden and his Democrats nominated her for the position in the Old Bay State.
When the Biden administration nominated her for the position, for instance, Democratic senators Ed Markey and Elizabeth Warren praised Rollins as “a great choice” who they were “proud to recommend.”
“District Attorney Rollins is a national leader on transforming the criminal justice system and shifting away from an approach based on punishment and penalization to one that combats the root causes of injustice, whether it be poverty, substance use, or racial disparity,” the two senators said, according to a 2021 report in the Boston Globe.
The media also jumped in to push for the left-wing Rollins to be elevated to the Massachuetts DA’s office.
“Rollins has been among President Biden’s smartest appointments, and if her nomination is finally approved in the Senate she would become the top federal prosecutor in Massachusetts, handling cases involving national security, white-collar crime, public corruption, cybercrime, gang violence and civil rights violations,” the Los Angeles Times’ editorial board wrote at the time.
But only two years later, Rollins was left fleeing from her position in disgrace after the DOJ revealed “hundreds of pages” of accusations that she “abused her authority as U.S. attorney,” WBUR noted.
In one case, for instance, she was charged with purposefully leaking privileged Justice Department information to help Democrat Ricardo Arroyo get elected Suffolk County district attorney. The DOJ said Rollins leaked sensitive information about Arroyo’s opponent in the race, Kevin Hayden. Arroyo lost to Hayden anyway.
And as Fox News reported, the DOJ said Rollins lied to federal investigators about her actions. The DOJ said Rollins “falsely testified under oath during her OIG interview when she denied that she was the federal law enforcement source that provided nonpublic, sensitive DOJ information to the Herald reporter about a possible Hayden criminal investigation.”
The U.S. Office of Special Counsel called Rollins’ actions “an extraordinary abuse of her power,” WBUR said in a separate report.
She became the toast of the Democrats ahead of her nomination to the U.S. attorney’s office in Massachusetts for refusing to prosecute most criminals that came through her office as the Suffolk County DA. But her dedication to this “social justice” concept made for a contentious confirmation process in which the U.S. Senate was split 50 yeas to 50 nays. Vice President Kamala Harris stepped in to supply the final yea to push Rollins into the DA’s office.
But what was supposed to be a four-year term barely reached two years after the DOJ revealed its long list of corrupt practices they accused Rollins of committing.
Still, even with all the allegations hanging over her head, Biden’s DOJ declined to prosecute Rollins after she agreed to resign from the AG’s office.
This did not stop the Massachusetts Office of Bar Counsel from reviewing her case, though.
Now, the state’s Board of Bar Overseers has recommended that Rollins’ license to practice law be suspended for nonpayment of fees. And the state Supreme Judicial Court approved the suspensions, WBUR noted.
Naturally, as with many of these corrupt Democratic officials, despite her long list of ethics violations, the Soros-backed prosecutor was the lucky recipient of a cushy landing after resigning from disgrace. She landed a job as the special projects administrator at Roxbury Community College, where she is making $96,000 a year. Democrats never face consequences, do they?
