Samoan police have reported that former University of Hawaii professor Caroline Sinavaiana-Gabbard, who is the aunt of former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard, was murdered at the GaluMoana Theater in Samoa.
According to Hawaii News Now, Sinavaiana-Gabbard, 78, was killed by Samoan playwright Papalii Sia Figiel, 57, after the two got into a heated argument at the GaluMoana Theater.
Spectrum News reported Figiel stabbed Sinavaiana-Gabbard several times and beat her with a hammer until her death.
After the violent act, Figiel allegedly fled to a friend’s house, where she was later arrested.
Initially, Fiegel was charged with suspicion of manslaughter, but after a preliminary investigation, authorities increased the charge to murder.

Samoan police have charged a prominent playwright with the murder of retired UH professor Caroline Sinavaiana-Gabbard, former Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard’s aunt.
Police say Samoan playwright Papalii Sia Figiel, 57, was charged with the murder at her home.
She was initially arrested on manslaughter charges, but police upgraded the charge after finding “incriminating” evidence, including a small knife and hammer. A motive is still under investigation.
Media outlets report the two women were colleagues and friends, and that Gabbard was Figiel’s mentor.
In response to his sister being murdered, Hawaii state Senator Mike Gabbard wrote, “Caroline was my best friend as a teenager.”
“I love her deeply and wish her well as she continues her journey. While I sincerely forgive the murderer of this horrific crime, I’m hoping justice will be served, and that person will be punished to the full extent of the law,” added Gabbard.

This isn’t the first time Tucker has warned about a possible assassination attempt against Trump.
Last year, during an interview with comedian Adam Carolla, Tucker stated, “If you begin with criticism, then you go to protest, then you go to impeachment, now you go to indictment, and none of them work. What’s next? Graph it out, man. We’re speeding towards assassination.”

As The Gateway Pundit reported on Tuesday, a massive explosion blew out the ground floor of Realty Tower in Youngstown, Ohio, injuring seven people and killing a bank employee.
Initially, the cause of the explosion was said to be triggered by a natural gas leak.
However, Youngstown Fire Chief Barry Finley told the Associated Press that the explosion is still under investigation, and a cause has yet to be determined.
The man who died in the explosion has been identified as 27-year-old Chase Bank employee Akil Drake.
Drake’s body was discovered by first responders in the basement of the building.
21 WFMJ News was able to obtain bodycam footage from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office showing first responders rescuing victims from the blast.

The video shows deputies arriving at the hectic scene and assisting firefighters in the rescue of occupants who were trapped inside the remains of the building.
One woman can be heard screaming in pain as firefighters and deputies rescue her from the rubble and escort her to safety.
As firefighters searched for more occupants, deputies were told there was a gas leak, which is believed to have caused the explosion.

The U.S. Coast Guard has announced that it has seized close to 34,000 pounds of cocaine valued at $468 million within a span of a. month.
On Tuesday, Coast Guard officers were seen unloading the confiscated cocaine, which was seized between Feb 21st through March 23rd.
The drugs were seized by the Coast Guard off the coast of South America and Mexico.
Rear Admiral Andrew Sugimoto stated, “I am extremely proud of this crew and their dedication to disrupting organized crime in the Eastern Pacific.”
“The effort put in while interdicting more than 33,000 lbs of cocaine in a few weeks’ time is unparalleled,” added Sugimoto.

The United States Coast Guard announced that it seized nearly 34,000 pounds of cocaine — worth $468 million — in multiple incidents over the span of a month. The Coast Guard offloaded the tons of cocaine in San Diego on Tuesday.
The drugs were seized in seven separate busts off the coast of Mexico and Central and South America between Feb. 21 and March 23, the Coast Guard said, including a bust on March 17 where Coast Guardsman seized nearly 8,000 pounds of drugs.
“I am extremely proud of this crew and their dedication to disrupting organized crime in the Eastern Pacific,” Rear Admiral Andrew Sugimoto said. “The effort put in while interdicting more than 33,000 lbs of cocaine in a few weeks’ time is unparalleled.”
All eight busts were made by the Coast Guard Cutter Munro. Capt. Rula Deisher, the commanding officer of the Munro, said she “couldn’t be prouder of them. Their dedication and grit goes to show that Munro is one of the best national security cutters in the fleet, and we are committed to keeping the country safe by stopping illegal drugs before they hit the street.”

Over a dozen law enforcement departments in Colorado are planning to dispatch drones instead of officers to respond to specific 911 calls.
The Denver Police Department and several other law enforcement agencies in Colorado plan to dispatch drones instead of officers in situations where drones can provide information about the incident before officers are called to the scene.
The Denver Post reported that in some cases, the drone would be the only response to some incidents if an operator can determine from the air that officers don’t need to respond.
Sgt. Jeremiah Gates, who is in charge of the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s office, stated, “This really is the future of law enforcement at some point, whether we like it or not.”

Several local law enforcement agencies in Colorado, including the Denver Police Department (DPD), are planning to start dispatching drones instead of officers to respond to 911 calls.
“This really is the future of law enforcement at some point, whether we like it or not,” Sgt. Jeremiah Gates, who leads the drone unit at the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, told The Denver Post.
At least 20 agencies in Colorado’s Front Range already use drone technology for certain tasks, like searching for missing people, tracking fleeing suspects, mapping crime scenes or overhead surveillance during SWAT operations.
Now the sheriff’s office is considering using them to respond to some 911 calls in situations where the drones might be able to provide useful information from the location of an incident before officers are deployed.
Police departments are not the only ones using drones; criminals are using them too.
The Gateway Pundit reported in March that Georgia Law Enforcement authorities arrested 150 people for operating a drone-based operation that smuggled guns, drugs, and cell phones into Georgia prisons.

A judge in Michigan was baffled when a man appearing in court via Zoom for a suspended driver’s license case attended the hearing while driving his car.
Court footage that has gone viral on X shows District Judge Cedric Simpson in complete disbelief as defendant Corey Harris attends court via Zoom while driving on a suspended license.
In the video, Simpson asks Harris, “Mr Harris, are you driving?”
Harris responded, “Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office.”

A district judge in Ann Arbor, Michigan, was astonished when a man with a suspended driver’s license joined a court Zoom call while driving a car.
Court footage shows Judge Cedric Simpson’s dumbfounded reaction as the defendant, Corey Harris, dials into the court hearing from the driver’s seat.
“Mr Harris, are you driving?” Simpson asked the defendant.
“Actually, I’m pulling into my doctor’s office,” Harris says.
A public defender representing Harris then asked the judge for an adjournment for ‘possibly up to four weeks if the court would allow.’
Judge Simpson later revoked Harris’ bond and ordered him to turn himself in at the local county jail.

Home buyers will be able to buy a home without putting any money down under a new program launched by United Wholesale Mortgage, one of the largest U.S. mortgage lenders.
The Pontiac, Mich.-based company’s new program will be available to first-time home buyers and people earning at or below 80% of an area’s median income, the company said in a press release.
UWM (UWMC) will give eligible buyers a second-lien loan of up to $15,000, in the form of down-payment assistance, for 3% of the home’s purchase price. The loan will not accrue interest or require a monthly payment.
“Homeownership is something we’re very passionate about,” Melinda Wilner, chief operating officer at UWM, told MarketWatch.

During the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum, Beijing Xinzhida Neurotechnology debuted its brain-computer interface (BCI) implant called Neucyber.
According to the Global Times, the new brain implant technology has already been tested on primates, giving them the capability of controlling a robotic arm.
Although Chinese media has compared Neucyber to Musk’s Neuralink, Neucyber has yet to be implanted into a human brain as Nueralink has already successfully done.

A billionaire from Ohio plans to take a two-person submersible to the Titanic site to prove the industry is safer following the implosion of the OceanGate submersible last year.
Billionaire real estate investor Larry Connor of Dayton, Ohio, said he’s planning a trip in a two-person submersible to the Titanic site with Triton Submarines co-founder Patrick Lahey.
In a statement to the Wall Street Journal, Connor stated, “I want to show people worldwide that while the ocean is extremely powerful, it can be wonderful and enjoyable and really kind of life-changing if you go about it the right way.”
Connor and Lahey will travel in a $20 million submersible named the Triton 4000/2 Abyssal Explorer, which is designed to plunge over 12,400 feet to the Titanic’s resting place.

Donald J. Trump has pledged to commute Silk Road founder Ross Ulbricht’s life sentence to time served if he’s re-elected president.
“If you vote for me, on Day 1, I will commute the sentence of Ross Ulbricht to a sentence of time served,” Trump said during his Saturday night remarks at the Libertarian National Convention in Washington, D.C. “He’s already served 11 years, we’re gonna get him home.”
In his evening address, Trump’s pledge to free Ulbricht was met with raucous cheers from the assembled audience, many of whom were holding up signs reading “Free Ross.”In 2015, Ulbricht was sentenced to two consecutive life sentences plus 40 years – effectively, life in prison without the possibility of parole – for creating and operating Silk Road. The now-defunct darknet marketplace was used to anonymously buy and sell goods, but was largely used for drugs. Silk Road operated from 2011 to 2013 and is widely considered the first real-world use case for Bitcoin.
Ulbricht has become something of a martyr for many in the crypto community, as well as to many Libertarians, who see Ulbricht’s draconian sentence as a governmental overstep and a violation of his constitutional rights. In 2018, the Libertarian Party called on then-President Trump to pardon Ulbricht.

A former CIA agent pleaded guilty to spying for China for over a decade.
Ex-CIA officer and contract linguist for the FBI Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 72, pleaded guilty in a Honolulu federal court on Friday for providing intelligence officers in China with classified information.
A court filing from the DOJ revealed it had amassed “a war chest of damning evidence” against Ma exchanging classified information with China’s Ministry of State Security stretching back to 2001.
Among the evidence was a video of Ma exchanging classified information for thousands of dollars.
Ma also told an undercover FBI agent that he hopes the motherland succeeds.
According to NBC News, among the classified information was “CIA sources and assets, international operations, secure communication practices, and operational tradecraft.”

A former CIA officer and contract linguist for the FBI accused of spying for China for at least a decade pleaded guilty Friday in a federal courtroom in Honolulu.
Alexander Yuk Ching Ma, 72, has been in custody since his arrest in August 2020. The Justice Department said in a court filing it amassed “a war chest of damning evidence” against him, including an hourlong video of Ma and an older relative — also a former CIA officer — providing classified information to intelligence officers with China’s Ministry of State Security in 2001.
The video shows Ma counting the $50,000 received from the Chinese agents for his service, prosecutors said.
During a sting operation, he accepted thousands of dollars in cash in exchange for past espionage activities, and he told an undercover FBI agent posing as a Chinese intelligence officer that he wanted to see the “motherland” succeed, prosecutors said.
As part of a deal with prosecutors, Ma pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy: “to gather or deliver national defense information to a foreign government.”
Prosecutors also called for Ma to only receive a 10-year sentence, but a Judge will have the final say on September 11th during Ma’s sentencing hearing.

Morgan Spurlock, the filmmaker of the hit documentary “Super Size Me,” has died at 53.
Spurlock’s family confirmed his death in New York on Thursday following a private health battle with an unspecified form of cancer.
There is no information on when Spurlock was diagnosed. At the time of his death, Spurlock had been undergoing chemotherapy treatment for his cancer, according to Daily Mail.
His brother Craig Spurlock told the press, “The world has lost a true creative genius and a special man.”
Morgan Spurlock rose to fame after releasing the hit documentary film Super Size Me, a documentary of him eating McDonald’s food for 30 days in a row for every meal.
At the end of the documentary, Spurlock revealed he gained 24.5 pounds, increased his body mass by 13%, increased his cholesterol, and experienced sexual dysfunction.

The seated format was a request made by the 81-year-old president’s campaign team, according to Trump.

A small town in Wisconsin is currently under Federal review after making a decision to eliminate electronic voting machines and replace them with paper ballots.
In June 2023, board members of the town of Thornapple in Rusk County, Wisconsin, decided to stop using electronic voting machines for elections and instead rely entirely on hand-counting ballots.
The decision by board members has since caught the attention of the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division, which is now investigating the move.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Suzanne Pinnow, who serves as Thornapple’s chief election official, received a letter from the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division seeking information about why the town decided to get rid of electronic machines and how the township is helping to accommodate disabled voters in the process.
Pinnow told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that no one with disabilities has been “turned away” from voting with the new hand-counting ballot system.

A rural Wisconsin community’s decision to eliminate electronic voting machines has attracted the attention of federal investigators who are questioning how voters with disabilities cast ballots in the town of fewer than 1,000 people.
The vote by a small board overseeing the Town of Thornapple in Rusk County, population 711, to rely solely on hand counting paper ballots took place last year and caught the eye of state and federal officials after the April presidential primary election when advocates for voters with disabilities rang alarm bells.
The decision was made in June 2023, according to town supervisor Tom Zelm − around the time of a discussion in the local newspaper over whether to abandon electronic voting machines and amid visits to the area by one of the nation’s most prominent purveyors of election conspiracy theories.
On Tuesday, attorneys within the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division’s Voting Section sent a letter to Suzanne Pinnow, Thornapple’s chief election official, seeking information about the decision to remove electronic voting machines and information on how the township is accommodating voters with disabilities.
Pinnow told the Journal Sentinel the decision was made by the town board, which she said also had instructed her not to discuss the matter. She said it’s not true that voters with disabilities were unable to use an accessible voting machine during the April election.

While speaking at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute, Haley said, “I will be voting for Trump.”
“Trump would be smart to reach out to the millions of people who voted for me and continue to support me and not assume that they’re just going to be with him. And I genuinely hope he does that,” added Haley.
During her March suspension speech, the former Governor of South Carolina refused to endorse Donald Trump, but her tone has changed.

A former Tallahassee mayoral candidate has been arrested after allegedly robbing a Dollar General store at gunpoint.
The Tallahassee Democrat has reported Whitefield Leland, 44, was arrested on several charges, including grand theft of a firearm, robbery with a gun, possession of a firearm by a felon, and resisting arrest.
On Monday, Leland allegedly entered a Dollar General in Tallahassee and demanded cash while holding a manager at gunpoint.
After leaving with the cash, police officers found Leland in a nearby woods after following a trail of cash he had dropped.

New information is emerging about an armed robbery at a Dollar General in Tallahassee, that ultimately led to the arrest of former mayoral candidate Whitfield Leland.
The robbery happened Monday morning, at the Dollar General located on W. Brevard Street. Police said Leland held a manager and an employee at gunpoint, and stole cash. It’s not clear how much money Leland allegedly took.
According to an arrest report, Leland took a Dollar General shirt off the employee’s back and put it on himself. “A trail of cash led to the suspect’s location” when he ran, the report states.
WCTV reported on Leland’s 2022 bid for mayor several times, both when he asked the City of Tallahassee to cancel an MLK Day Parade, and when he filed an ethics complaint against several city officials. In October 2022, Leland was sentenced to two months in jail for resisting arrest at a party back in June 2019. He was also handed another ten months on probation.
In 2022, Leland ran in the Tallahassee mayoral race as a non-partisan candidate.
Ballotpedia reported Leland could only garner 5% of the vote and lost the primary to Kristin Dozier, who eventually lost the general election to John Dailey.

An exclusive report by TMZ has revealed the DEA has tapped the United States Postal Service to help find the person who gave actor Matthew Perry the ketamine that resulted in his death.
As The Gateway Pundit previously reported, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office revealed that the accidental death of Friends star Matthew Perry was due to “acute effects of ketamine.”
According to TMZ’s report, the USPS’ federal investigatory agents are now investigating whether the drugs Perry had in his system at the time of his death came through the mail.
Before his tragic death, Perry was undergoing ketamine infusion treatments for mental health problems.
A medical examiner from the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office determined that the ketamine found in his system at the time of his death wasn’t from his mental health treatment but instead came from a different source, which resulted in the DEA launching an investigation on finding out how Perry obtained the ketamine.

On October 28, 2023, Perry was found unresponsive in the pool of his luxury Los Angeles home and was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
Law enforcement officers, who arrived on the scene reported there were no drugs discovered near Perry at the time of his death.

Oakland city officials decided to take down a traffic light at a busy intersection after homeless people repeatedly stole copper wire from an electrical box that supplied power to the lights.
CBS has reported that city officials have since replaced the traffic light with a four-way stop sign to prevent thieves from stealing more copper.
The city of Oakland initially placed large cement blocks as barriers to prevent thieves from accessing the electrical box, but the barriers were quickly removed.
Locals familiar with the matter stated that a local homeless encampment extending from 12th Street to 17th and 14th Avenues has been using the electrical box as a power source for their electronics.

Oakland has removed the traffic lights from one intersection and replaced them with 4-way stop signs due to people stealing copper and then tampering with an electrical box.
It’s a sight that has made drivers do a double take: a stop sign hanging overhead where a traffic light would normally be, located above the intersection of E. 12th Street and 16th Avenue in Oakland.
Neighbors said city workers removed the all the traffic lights in the last week and replaced them with four-way stop signs. The installation came after months of people stealing copper wires and tampering with the city electrical boxes that supply power to the traffic lights.
“It’s just telling us that the city is giving up on us,” said Tam Le, owner of Le’s Auto Body & Engine Repair, located at the corner of the intersection.
Neighbors said the lights that were there before hadn’t worked in months, either blinking red or being completely out.

The King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland mansion, is on the cusp of being sold at a foreclosure auction this Thursday, which has led Elvis’s granddaughter to fight back in a lawsuit.
According to a notice provided by the Shelby County Courthouse in Memphis, Tennesse, Graceland and its surrounding estate are set to be auctioned off on May 2nd in an auction.
In response to the notice, Riley Keough, the granddaughter of the late Elvis Presley, has called the auction a “sham” and filed a lawsuit to prevent the estate from being sold.
On Monday, an attorney representing Keough obtained a temporary restraining order to prevent the sale, and a junction hearing was set for Wednesday.

Elvis Presley’s legendary Graceland mansion is on the verge of being sold at a foreclosure auction on Thursday — sparking a dramatic legal battle from his granddaughter, Riley Keough, who called the pending sale “fraudulent.”
A notice from the Shelby County Courthouse states that Graceland and its surrounding property in Memphis, Tennessee, will be auctioned off to the highest bidder for cash on May 23, WREG-TV News reported.
Keough, 34, the current owner of the property and granddaughter of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, is fiercely contesting the sale. She filed a lawsuit calling the auction a sham, and on Monday, her attorney secured a temporary restraining order.
An injunction hearing is set for Wednesday.
According to the Guardian, Keough’s mother, Lisa Presley, who died last year, allegedly placed Graceland as collateral after receiving a loan a $3.8m loan from Naussany Investments & Private Lending.

In an email to WEF staff members, Schwab announced he would be officially stepping down as executive chairman and transitioning to non-executive chairman.
Schwab has not announced his successor yet but noted that over the last year, the WEF executive board “under the leadership of President Børge Brende, has taken full executive responsibility.”
Schwab, who founded the WEF, has been heavily criticized for his comments and ideas over the last decade.
Under his leadership, the WEF has touted ushering in a “Great Reset,” which aims to replace democratic models worldwide with a model of elite stakeholders who make decisions on behalf of the people.

A brawl occurred after the NASCAR All-Star Race on Sunday at the North Wilkesboro Speedway in North Carolina.
NASCAR drivers Kyle Busch and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got into a fight outside the garage area following the 200-lap race.
The physical interaction started when Stenhouse approached Busch after the race and threw a punch at Busch.
A brawl quickly ensued, and Busch’s and Stenhouses’s crews needed to be separated by security.

The animosity started on track when Busch hit Stenhouse from behind, resulting in Stenhouse flying into the wall.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. ran just two of the 200 laps in Sunday’s NASCAR All-Star Race, his No. 47 JTG Daugherty Racing Chevrolet battered and out after an early altercation with Kyle Busch. With no pedestrian tunnel or bridge out of the North Wilkesboro Speedway infield, Stenhouse was forced to sit and stew.
So, he waited for the remaining 198 to retaliate.
With post-race fireworks popping off behind them in the background, Stenhouse and Busch had a brief verbal confrontation that escalated into a physical showdown between the two drivers and their crews in the NASCAR Cup Series garage, a nasty spat that triggered memories of North Wilkesboro’s rough-and-tumble past. Both drivers went to the ground, and the mounting frustrations of both the night and their seasons overall reached a tipping point.

In a press release, the United States Capitol Police (USCP) reported a bag of cocaine was discovered inside its headquarters.
The USCP reported a small bag of a powdery white substance, which later tested positive for cocaine, was discovered in the second-floor hallway of USCP’s headquarters in an area that is used to store furniture and supplies.
An officer discovered the baggie at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday and reported his findings to a supervisor.
The area where the bag was located usually experiences heavy traffic from contractors and USCP employees.
The USCP Investigations unit has launched an investigation and will soon commence a DNA test on the baggie.

The United States Capitol Police (USCP) is investigating a roughly one-inch by one-inch zip lock bag with a small amount of a white powdery substance, which field tested positive for cocaine.
The small bag was found on the floor of a hallway inside USCP headquarters. The hallway is on the second floor in an area that has been a staging spot for furniture and supplies. The area is heavily trafficked by various contractors and employees. It is also near offices such as Prisoner Processing, Crime Scene, Intel and Reports Processing.
The baggie was found in the middle of the floor just before 1:00 p.m. by an officer, who immediately reported it to a supervisor. The residue was field tested and came back positive for cocaine.
The USCP Investigations Division has opened an investigation, which will include further testing, including DNA testing of the baggie. We will provide more information when it becomes available.

Former Marine Joshua Cobb has been arrested for making threats on the internet to commit a mass attack against white people.
The DOJ reported Joshua Cobb, who was discharged from the U.S. Marines in 2023, was arrested and charged with “one count of transmitting a threat in interstate and foreign commerce.”
In December of 2022, Cobb wrote on social media, “I want to cause mayhem on the white community. The reason i specifically want to target white people is because as a black male, they will NEVER understand my struggles”
“I want to erase them. All of them, really, but in this case, as many as I possibly can. As of today, I have officially begun planning my attack. It is going to take place in 2023 in the state of New Jersey.” added Cobb
In another sinister post, Cobb wrote, “Imagine the rush you’d feel while shooting some sh*t up. Probably could get literally high off the adrenaline alone. I’d probably OD on my own adrenaline after the 10th body goes down.”

Rick Slayman, who was the first living man to receive a genetically edited pig kidney transplant died months after receiving the surgery.
Slayman died last year but the story is currently making headlines.

The first recipient of a genetically modified pig kidney transplant has died nearly two months after he underwent the procedure, his family and the hospital that performed the surgery said Saturday.
Richard “Rick” Slayman had the transplant at Massachusetts General Hospital in March at the age of 62. Surgeons said they believed the pig kidney would last for at least two years.
The transplant team at Massachusetts General Hospital said in a statement it was deeply saddened by Slayman’s passing and offered condolences to his family. They said they didn’t have any indication that he died as a result of the transplant.
The Weymouth, Massachusetts, man was the first living person to have the procedure. Previously, pig kidneys had been temporarily transplanted into brain-dead donors. Two men received heart transplants from pigs, although both died within months.
In September of 2023, The University of Maryland Medical Center transplanted a genetically modified pig heart into Lawrence Faucette.

Barron Trump, the youngest son of former President Trump, has declined the offer to serve as a delegate for Florida at this summer’s Republican National Convention (RNC).
“While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments,” former first lady Melania Trump’s office said in a statement.
The Florida GOP earlier this week said Barron Trump, who is 18, would join three of the former president’s other children — Eric, Tiffany and Donald Trump Jr. — as delegates, with Eric Trump serving as the state’s delegation chair.

The West Sacramento police department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred near a group of teenage rowers.
The incident occurred two weeks ago on the Sacramento River during a rowing competition for teenagers.
According to KTVU, three gunshots were shot near a group of teens who were on the last stretch of their rowing competition.
A sound of three gunshots was heard in a video of the incident captured by one of the teenager’s parents.
The video also shows the bullets making three splashes near the boat.
Fred Ackerman, the parent of one of the rowers, stated, “I was pretty shocked. I think all of us were. It’s horrifying to think in this peaceful, green setting, the final push of this race—to see and hear that.”

Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has reported a young boy has died due to cardiac arrest after receiving the company’s experimental gene therapy for Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
A Pfizer spokesperson told Reuters in an exclusive email, “A fatal serious adverse event was reported as cardiac arrest for a participant in the Phase 2 DAYLIGHT study.”
Pfizer’s gene therapy trial is currently testing children two to three-year-olds who have Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) “is caused by a genetic problem in producing dystrophin, a protein that protects muscle fibers from breaking down when exposed to enzymes.”

A young patient died due to cardiac arrest after receiving Pfizer’s gene therapy being tested in a mid-stage trial for a muscle-wasting disorder called Duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD), the drugmaker told Reuters on Tuesday.
“A fatal serious adverse event was reported as cardiac arrest for a participant in the Phase 2 DAYLIGHT study,” a company spokesperson told Reuters in an emailed response.
The trial is testing boys 2 to three years of age with DMD, a genetic muscle wasting disorder in which most patients lack the protein dystrophin which keeps muscles intact. The disorder affects an estimated one-in-3,500 male births worldwide.
“The patient received the investigational gene therapy, fordadistrogene movaparvovec, in early 2023,” as per a statement from a community letter attributed to the drugmaker’s DMD gene therapy team and posted by a nonprofit advocacy group.

A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing on a Long Island beach on Wednesday evening, causing some beachgoers to panic.
On Wednesday, a pilot of a Cessna 152 was forced to make an emergency landing on Cedar Beach in Suffolk County, New York, after his single-engine plane suffered engine failure.
The 60-year-old pilot was seen flying at a low level over the shoreline at Cedar Beach before landing the Cessna 152.
Video of the emergency landing shows the plane safely landing on the sand, but seconds later, the plane nosedives into the sand, causing the plane to flip.
The pilot of the plane, along with the passenger, were both uninjured from the incident.
One beachgoer was able to film the emergency landing on the beach.

A pilot and a passenger walked away unscathed after their small plane made an emergency landing in Suffolk County.
The single-engine Cessna 152 landed on Cedar Beach in Mt. Sinai around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
The 60-year-old pilot reported that the plane had experienced engine failure before coming down on the beach.
Both the pilot and his passenger, a 59-year-old woman, were uninjured. No one on the beach was injured.

This isn’t the first time the Cessna 152 plane was forced to make an emergency landing on a beach.
In 2016, Pilot Robert Keletii was forced to make an emergency landing at Sunken Meadow State Park after the plane suffered an engine failure shortly after taking off.
Keletii and a student he was instructing were both unharmed from the incident.
