Suffolk District Attorney Kevin Hayden released the final investigative report regarding the babies, two boys and two girls, on April 30.
Police were sent to the former home of Alexis Aldamir, 69, in November 2022 after her brother called 9-1-1 to report that they had seen the dead babies while cleaning out the house.
The district attorney’s office explained, “In all, four babies were discovered that day. All were frozen solid. All were found in shoe boxes wrapped in tin foil. Two were male and two were female.”
“All of the babies were full term, which means they were determined to be between 37 and 40 weeks of gestational age. All four had their umbilical cords attached and the two females had their placentas attached,” the report continued. “DNA tests concluded that the babies were full siblings.”
There is no test available to determine how long the babies were frozen. It also remains unknown if they were born alive.
“The autopsy found no signs of internal or external trauma and no evidence of obvious injuries. There were no signs of food, or milk, or formula inside the babies’ stomachs,” the DA’s office explained.
The medical examiner ruled the cause of death for all the babies to be “undetermined.”
Aldamir was located in a residential healthcare facility, and DNA testing confirmed that she was the mother.
However, the DA does not believe she is fit to stand trial. The father of the babies died in 2011.
“In late 2022, investigators visited the healthcare facility where Aldamir now lives. They questioned her about the babies found in her apartment. Throughout the interview Aldamir appeared confused and demonstrated a lack of understanding about where she was and who she was speaking to. As a result, she was unable to provide investigators with any significant information,” the press release explains. “To further assess Aldamir’s cognitive ability, investigators reviewed publicly available probate court records and spoke with a lawyer for Aldamir. The information obtained suggests strongly that Aldamir would be unlikely to stand trial.”
During the investigation, investigators found that the pair had one other baby who was given up for adoption.
“This investigation, which is one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing that this office has ever encountered, is now complete. While we have some answers, there are many elements of this case that will likely never be answered,” Hayden said.
“We will never know exactly where or when the four babies found in Alexis Aldamir’s apartment were born. We will never know if the four babies were born alive, and we will never know exactly what happened to them. We will never know how Alexis Aldamir concealed her pregnancies, or why she chose to do so,” he continued.

Trump is on trial in NYC over an alleged $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep her quiet during the 2016 election — which he has denied.
On Thursday night, Avenatti tweeted, “Keith Davidson is lying. After I confronted her w/ her own text msgs, Daniels admitted to me in early 2019 that she & Davidson had extorted Trump in Oct. 2016 – it was a shakedown. This was one of the many reasons I fired her as a client in Feb. 2019.”

Davidson testified in court on Thursday with his version of the events surrounding the supposed “hush money” payment Trump allegedly made to Daniels in an effort to keep her from speaking out about their alleged affair.
Davidson told prosecutor Joshua Steinglass that he worked out the “hush money” deal with Trump’s then-lawyer Michael Cohen just days before the election in 2016, but claimed Trump never signed the paperwork.
According to Davidson, the paperwork included an “unenforceable” $1 million penalty for breaching the agreement.
Speaking to the New York Post from jail earlier this month, Avenatti said he is in contact with Trump’s legal team and was willing to speak out against his former client.
Avenatti is currently being held at Terminal Island, a minimum-security federal prison in Los Angeles, serving a 19-year sentence for a slate of federal crimes that include extortion, tax evasion, fraud, and embezzlement.
“I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of year,” Avenatti said.
The Post reports that Avenatti would not provide any additional details about the discussion, but an unnamed source “close to Trump” confirmed that the discussions are taking place.
Avenatti used to be one of Trump’s loudest critics, but he has seemingly dramatically changed his position.
“There’s no question [the trial] is politically motivated because they’re concerned that he may be reelected,” Avenatti told the newspaper. “If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time, and for the government to attempt to bring this case and convict him in an effort to prevent tens of millions of people from voting for him, I think it’s just flat out wrong, and atrocious.”
“I’m really bothered by the fact that Trump, in my view, has been targeted. Four cases is just over the top and I think there’s a significant chance that this is going to all backfire and is going to propel him to the White House,” Avenatti added.
The former lawyer continued, “Depending on what happens, this could constitute pouring jet fuel on his campaign.”
“Stormy Daniels is going to say whatever she believes is going to assist Stormy Daniels and putting more money in her pocket,” Avenatti said. “If Stormy Daniels lips are moving, she’s lying for money.”
Avenatti explained that he feels like he and Trump have both been targeted by politically motivated prosecutions.
“I think that we were both targeted by the justice system,” Avenatti said. “There’s a lot of people on the left that were very concerned about my potential rise within the Democratic Party and my potential rise in Democratic politics. And the fact that I was not someone that was easily controlled.”
The imprisoned former lawyer also claimed he is not fishing for a pardon in case Trump wins a second term.
“I’m not saying any of this because I’m seeking a pardon,” Avenatti told The Post. “I wish I would have never met Stormy Daniels. I should have left her where I found her.”

The CDC and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) have confirmed that traces of Bird Flu have also been found in commercial milk — but claim it is safe for humans to drink anyway.
The Hill reports, “Scientists reported that in mid-March, about 24 cats were fed raw milk at a Texas farm before the cows were known to be sick. One day after the cows showed visible signs of illness, the cats also became sick, and one to two days later, more than half of the cats grew ill and died.”
“In early March 2024, similar clinical cases were reported in dairy cattle in southwestern Kansas and northeastern New Mexico; deaths of wild birds and domestic cats were also observed within affected sites in the Texas panhandle,” the CDC wrote in the new report.
“In >1 dairy farms in Texas, deaths occurred in domestic cats fed raw colostrum and milk from sick cows that were in the hospital parlor. Antemortem clinical signs in affected cats were depressed mental state, stiff body movements, ataxia, blindness, circling, and copious oculonasal discharge. Neurologic exams of affected cats revealed the absence of menace reflexes and pupillary light responses with a weak blink response.”
The scientists wrote, “This case series differs from most previous reports of IAV infection in bovids, which indicated cattle were inapparently infected or resistant to infection.”
“We describe an H5N1 strain of IAV in dairy cattle that resulted in apparent systemic illness, reduced milk production, and abundant virus shedding in milk. The magnitude of this finding is further emphasized by the high death rate (≈50%) of cats on farm premises that were fed raw colostrum and milk from affected cows”
The FDA is warning against humans consuming raw milk.
“The FDA has a long-standing recommendation to consumers not to consume raw milk (milk that has not been pasteurized). Because of the limited information available about the possible transmission of H5N1 virus via raw milk, the FDA continues to recommend that industry does not manufacture or sell raw milk or raw milk products, including raw milk cheese, made with milk from cows showing symptoms of illness, including those infected with avian influenza viruses or exposed to those infected with avian influenza viruses.”
Dairy cows in Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and South Dakota have tested positive for the Type A H5N1 virus.

The infant’s mother has been located and is now hospitalized, but her name has not been released to the public.
It is unclear what condition the baby’s body was in or her cause of death.
The case remains under investigation and no charges have been made public as of Tuesday evening.
“The loss of a child is always a tragedy,” said Chief Bercaw in a press release from the Tampa Police Department. “As our department actively investigates this incident, we want all expectant mothers to know there are resources available.”
Florida has a Safe Haven Law in which parents can anonymously surrender their infants within seven days of their birth. The deadline is being extended to 30 days beginning on July 1.
The Tampa Police Department press release added, “Florida has a Safe Haven Law, which allows parents to anonymously surrender an unharmed newborn infant seven days old or younger to any Fire Station, EMS station, or hospital staffed by full-time emergency medical technicians, paramedics, or firefighters. There will be no questions asked, and no charges will be filed for surrendering a newborn under the Safe Haven Law unless the infant has signs of abuse or neglect.”

The Pew Research Center survey released on Monday revealed that the issue concerns both sides of the aisle, with 84 percent of Republicans and 74 percent of Democrats concerned about these companies’ influence.
The pollsters found that “Republicans and independents who lean toward the Republican Party (84%) are more likely than Democrats and Democratic leaners (74%) to think these companies have too much political power.”
The report adds, “While Republicans’ opinions have changed little since 2020, this view has grown more common among Democrats over the past four years: 74% of Democrats believe social media companies have too much power and influence in politics, up from 63% in 2020.”
Just 16 percent of Americans believe social media companies have the right amount of influence, and four percent said they have too little.
Additionally, “Americans are far more likely to say social media has a negative rather than positive impact on the country. Roughly two-thirds (64%) think social media has a mostly negative effect on the way things are going in the country today.”
Only 10 percent of respondents said that social media has a mostly positive impact on society.
“Majorities in both political parties see social media’s impact on the country negatively, though Republicans remain more wary than Democrats (71% vs. 59%). That said, a growing number of Democrats believe these platforms have a mostly bad impact on the country, rising to 59% in our current survey, up from 53% in 2020.”
Most surveyed said they believe social media platforms censor people based on political bias.
“Roughly eight-in-ten U.S. adults (83%) say it’s very or somewhat likely that these platforms intentionally censor political viewpoints they find objectionable, up from 77% in 2022. Just 17% in the current survey think this is not likely the case.”
The poll found that over ninety percent of Republicans believe social media platforms censor people based on politics.
Majorities in both parties believe political censorship is likely occurring on social media, but more Republicans hold this view. Fully 93% of Republicans say it’s likely that social media sites intentionally censor political viewpoints that they find objectionable, including 66% who say that this is very likely happening.
By comparison, 74% of Democrats think this is likely occurring, with 25% saying there’s a strong possibility this is occurring.
The pollsters surveyed 10,133 U.S. adults from February 7-11, 2024.

CBP agents encountered Marco Barajas Barron, 52, at the Port of Buffalo crossing on April 26.
In a press release about the arrest, CBP explained that Barron “was operating a commercial vehicle and was refused entry to Canada after a wrong turn. Upon arriving at the CBP primary inspection area, the driver was escorted to secondary for further inspection.”
“During the secondary inspection, CBP officers verified the identity of the driver and discovered additional information indicating suspected illegal activity,” the press release continued. “Further investigation revealed that Barajas Barron possessed child pornographic material.”
Over the weekend, CBP officers at the Buffalo, N.Y. (Peace Bridge) Port of Entry arrested a 52-year-old male Mexican citizen for possession of child pornographic material. He was arrested and turned over to @BuffaloNYPolice. Learn More

It is unclear what medium the material was on or how agents discovered it.
“Our CBP officers are among the best at identifying nefarious actors as part of their border security mission,” said Buffalo Port Director Gaetano Cordone. “We continue to successfully collaborate with our local law enforcement partners to keep our communities safe.”
The driver and suspected child pornographic material were turned over to the Buffalo Police Department after being processed by CBP.

Emma McCarroll, 13, nearly missed her sales goal due to a stickler municipal code officer in Pinedale.
The Cowboy State Daily reports:
The spat between the city and the Girl Scout and her mom began when the code enforcement officer asked the mom, Erica Fairbanks McCarroll, if she had the landowner’s permission to sell from the city’s Pine Avenue spot and park a vehicle in a driveway there.
Puzzled, Fairbanks McCarroll didn’t answer the officer’s question because the spot where she parked was in the driveway of her parents.
Nonetheless, the officer snapped photographs of their sales activity between March 13 and 15 to prove that Emma McCarroll had set up the stand, and mom had parked illegally in the driveway, which straddled the public sidewalk on Pine Avenue.
“I personally don’t think she ever understood that I was related to the Fairbanks, my parents who own the driveway,” Fairbanks McCarroll told the paper.
Pinedale Mayor Matt Murdock told the paper that the mother was told to move and had refused to do so.
“Sometimes I just think that government can be unreasonable,” Emma McCarroll said. “It wasn’t reasonable to be fined $400 for selling cookies in front on my grandparent’s property.”

Schiavo was clearly going for “cool mom” points, as her daughter is a sixth-grade student who finds homework “exhausting.”
“Homework is exhausting. It’s overwhelming, ” Schiavo’s daughter, Sofia Johnson, told Fox 40. “It’s depressing that my whole day- from when I wake up to when I go to bed- is nearly all taken up with schoolwork.”
Fox 40 explains, “AB 2999 would not ban homework, however, the proposal would mandate local school boards and educational agencies to establish homework policies that consider impacts on students’ physical and mental health all with input from parents, teachers, and students themselves.”
“I think this is going to make a huge impact for students,” Schiavo told the station. “The times have changed and our homework policies don’t always change with the times, so we need to make sure we are addressing issues that are effective and also don’t harm kids.”
Schiavo claimed that easing up kids’ workloads will help their mental health.
“If it’s such a source of stress for kids, and we know taking stress off kids’ plates will make a difference in their mental health, this is something that can practically impact kids’ mental health overnight,” Schiavo added.
The bill has unanimously passed the assembly education committee with no opposition.

One family who went and filmed the character said they had paid $300 for a meet-and-greet photo opportunity after their themed dinner at Story Book Dining at Artist Point — only to be greeted by what the father referred to as a drag queen.

The father spoke to the Disney news site That Park Place, which broke the news that a man is playing a female character.
The upset parent explained, “While we were waiting for the desserts to come out we received our invitation to meet the Evil Queen which we were really looking forward to. Keep in mind we’ve had other meet and greets with other Villains and they are truly the best character experiences that we’ve ever had so we had high hopes for the Evil Queen leading up.”
“So we all walked over towards the Evil Queen area and while my kids and wife were interacting with the character I was doing some video and took a few pictures from about 10 feet away then handed my iPhone over to the cast member to take some pics for me so I could get in the picture. It was kind of loud inside so I couldn’t really hear what the character was saying until I got face to face (typical conversation distance of a few feet) and then it hit me that the Evil Queen without a doubt had a man’s voice.”
The father explained that when he returned to the table he complained to his waiter about the Evil Queen being a man dressed in drag.
“The waiter immediately said he was going to get a manager and he looked panicked…” the father explained. “At first I said I wanted to formally complain about the Evil Queen being a man and that I felt very disrespected by Disney because this is not the sort of thing my family values and they didn’t give us any type of notice that this sort of thing was even a possibility.”
He explained to the manager that they are a conservative Christian family and are spending $8,000 on the current trip. The manager, however, never once apologized.
“At one point the manager stated ‘I can assure you that she is a woman.’ She went even further, trying to shame me, informing me that ‘she’ was so excited to get the part as the Evil Queen,” the father recalled. “For a brief moment I thought ‘oh… maybe I’m wrong’ but then I realized that I was just being gaslighted. I politely told the manager that ‘I know what you are doing and that I do not appreciate the fact that you are trying to be funny and disingenuous.’ So since the manager doubled down I also doubled down and asked ‘is the Evil Queen a biological male?’ The manager’s reply was, ‘I’m sorry sir, I cannot answer that.'”
It appears that the Evil Queen has been portrayed by a man for at least the last several months, as there are multiple videos featuring him on YouTube.
Last year, Disney faced a similar scandal by allowing men to wear dresses and greet children at Bibbidy Bobbidi Boutique Dress Shop.
The high-priced shop takes children through getting princess-ready, complete with “magic mirrors” and a salon where they can get their hair and makeup done after selecting the perfect princess dress to wear while they visit the theme park.
Makeovers at the boutique are limited to children ages 3 to 12.
In previous years, little girls and their parents were met at the door by one of the “fairy godmothers in training,” usually a young woman who helped them decide on their perfect princess makeover.
Now, they appear to be being met by drag queens.

In 2022, Inside the Magic reported, “Boutique Cast Members were formerly called ‘Fairy Godmothers in Training’ but will now be called ‘Fairy Godmother’s Apprentices,’ according to an update on Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort’s websites.”
The report added, “This change is more gender inclusive and will allow Cast Members who don’t identify as female to participate in magical Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeovers.”
“This is just one of the many ways Disney is trying to push more inclusivity. Recently Disney changed the opening to the fireworks shows as they removed the phrase ‘Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls.’ Disney Cast Members also have a less strict dress code as it, too, has become more gender-inclusive.”
Disney also partnered with TikTok influencer Seann Altman, a biological male who identifies as “gender fluid,” to promote a line of girls’ apparel.

Candace Chapman Scott, 37, was working at a mortuary when she stole at least 24 boxes of human body parts from medical school cadavers.
On Thursday, Scott pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and one count of interstate transportation of stolen property.
The charges stemmed from Scott selling 24 boxes of human remains to Jeremy Pauley of Pennsylvania for $11,000. The body parts included fetuses, brains, hearts, lungs, genitalia, large pieces of skin, and more.
Scott reportedly sold Pauley the fetus at a discount, saying, “he’s not in great shape.”
According to a report from The Mirror, Pauley has “previously pleaded guilty to charges related to the theft and sale of body parts from both the Arkansas mortuary and Harvard Medical School.”

The connection between Scott and Pauley was reportedly established through a Facebook group focused on “oddities.” Scott was employed at Arkansas Central Mortuary Services, where her responsibilities included transporting, cremating, and embalming remains.
Prosecutors allege that she exploited her position to facilitate the illegal transactions. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock has confirmed that the medical school sent cadaver remains to the mortuary, intended for student examination.
According to prosecutors, Scott approached Pauley in October 2021 and began offering to sell him remains from the medical school that the mortuary was supposed to cremate and return. The indictment alleges Scott wrote to Pauley in her first Facebook message: “Just out of curiosity, would you know anyone in the market for a fully in tact, embalmed brain?”
Scott is facing up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000 for transporting stolen property and up to 20 years and a fine for the mail fraud charge, according to the report.

“With about six months remaining before Election Day, Biden stands in a weaker position than any prior incumbent,” the pollsters determined.
Biden’s challenger for the White House, former President Donald Trump, had a 46.8 percent approval rating at the same point in his presidency.

The New York Post reports:
Even Nixon and Carter had higher ratings than Biden, with 53.7% and 47.7%, respectively, and Eisenhower had the highest rating at 72.3%, according to the poll.
The results of Gallup’s presidential approval polls, which the organization has compiled since the presidency of Dwight D. Eisenhower began in 1952, have been strongly predictive of re-election success.
Historically, every incumbent in the past seven decades with an approval rating above 50% has won a second term. Only Barack Obama bucked the trend: his 2012 victory came despite a middling 46% approval six months ahead of that year’s general election.
No first-term president in Gallup’s history has returned to the White House with approval numbers as low as Biden’s — whose results this quarter ranked among the worst of the post-World War II era, in the bottom 12% of all presidential quarters going back to 1945.
Gallup surveyed 1,001 Americans from April 1 to April 22. The results have a 4-point margin of error.

Joe Biden signed legislation into law on Wednesday that gives ByteDance, which is based in China, nine months to sell or be banned.
In a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, Kennedy wrote, “I’m going to file a lawsuit challenging the TikTok ban on Constitutional grounds.”
“Don’t be fooled — the TikTok ban is not about China harvesting your data. That’s a smoke screen. Intelligence agencies from lots of countries, especially ours, are harvesting your data from everywhere all the time,” Kennedy continued. “TikTok isn’t even majority Chinese-owned, and the company agreed to put its data behind a U.S. firewall. The Biden administration rejected that deal.”

Drag queen “Harmonica Sunbeam” had been booked months in advance to read to staff members’ children at Brookdale Community College, but was removed from the schedule the night before the event.
“I did ask why, but I did not receive an answer,” the drag queen told NJ.com. “This had been planned for quite some time so I was shocked that it was canceled the night before.”
At a recent performance, the drag queen dressed in a sheer nun outfit mocking the Christian faith.
“We sing songs, they do some activities,” the adult performer said. “We were just going to be coloring and some picture taking if anybody wanted to take pictures.”
Laura Oncea, a Brookdale Community College spokeswoman, told the outlet that the act was canceled “to respect differing views of its staff.”
“Bring Your Child to Work Day was a success at Brookdale Community College, where employees and their children engaged and enjoyed our stigma-free, diverse, and inclusive campus atmosphere,” Oncea said in a statement.
“As an inclusive community, we understand and respect that parents have the right to decide when and how they want their children to explore diverse ideas. While the Drag Queen read-along was intended to promote inclusivity and acceptance, we recognize and acknowledge the diverse viewpoints within our workforce and have opted to respect the comfort levels of all involved,” the statement continued.

Joe Biden signed legislation into law on Wednesday that gives ByteDance, which is based in China, nine months to sell or be banned.
“Foreign media reports that ByteDance is exploring the sale of TikTok are untrue,” ByteDance said in a statement on Toutiao, a news aggregation app that it owns, according to a report from CNN. “ByteDance doesn’t have any plan to sell TikTok,” it said.

Even if TikTok were purchased in the U.S., it likely would be different from the app users use today because Chinese export rules would regulate whether the algorithm could be transferred, and the TikTok algorithm has been a key factor to its popularity among users.
The other route for TikTok to remain active in the U.S. is through a successful court case. TikTok announced Wednesday, immediately after Biden signed the law, that it would challenge it in court.
TikTok has already argued the law is “unconstitutional.”
“This unconstitutional law is a TikTok ban, and we will challenge it in court,” the social media platform said in a statement. “We believe the facts and the law are clearly on our side, and we will ultimately prevail.”
The statement added that TikTok has “invested billions of dollars to keep U.S. data safe and our platform free from outside influence and manipulation.”
“This ban would devastate seven million businesses and silence 170 million Americans,” the company continued. “As we continue to challenge this unconstitutional ban, we will continue investing and innovating to ensure TikTok remains a space where Americans of all walks of life can safely come to share their experiences, find joy, and be inspired.”
The Biden campaign has said that it is remaining active on TikTok despite claiming the app is a national security risk.

The bill, HB 1202/SB 1325, applies to K-12 public school campuses and is effective immediately.
“What’s important is that we give districts tools and the option to use a tool that will keep their children safe,” Lee told reporters before signing the bill into law.
“There are folks across the state who disagree on the way forward, but we all agree that we should keep our kids safe.”
According to a report from the Associated Press, “The bill would bar disclosing which employees are carrying guns beyond school administrators and police, including to parents of students and even other teachers. A principal, school district and law enforcement agency would have to agree to let staff carry guns.”
Employees wanting to carry a weapon must pass a background check and psychiatric evaluation. Additionally, they must complete 40 hours of basic training for school policing and 40 hours of Peace Officer’s Standards and Training.
The bill had prompted massive protests at the state capital, including a dramatic “die in” demonstration.

The National Crime Agency says that the group would collect people brought to England on small boats and bring them to an address in Croydon.
On Monday, police arrested a 23-year-old woman and 64 and 34-year-old men for “suspicion of assisting unlawful immigration.” A 25-year-old man was also arrested for “people smuggling and drug offenses,” according to a report from Sky News.
The report explains, “In Paris, 12 people have also been arrested as part of the investigation into the group accused of sharing posts aimed at the Vietnamese community, advertising illegal crossings and charging those willing to make the trip thousands of pounds.”
“The older man arrested in London is thought to have acted as a driver, collecting migrants who arrived on small boats and on at least one occasion bringing them back to the Croydon address, the National Crime Agency (NCA) said,” the report continues. “He will now face extradition proceedings while the others were charged and appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday, they added.”
Home Secretary James Cleverly said in a statement, “We are using every possible lever at our disposal to crack down on people smugglers and break their supply chains.”

NBC News reports, “In a video on TikTok, students can be seen gathering around the performer in thigh-high black boots and a matching body suit, as the performer is bending over, squatting and dancing provocatively.”
The performer has been identified by local station KOB 4 as “Mythica Sahreen.”
“Honestly, it was really interesting, and I didn’t mind it. But the thing is it’s the place and where it happened, full of minors, you know, it wasn’t very appropriate for prom,” a student told the station.
Another student added, “Could have kept it more on the side of like it being more PG with the fact that they kind of did twerk on a couple students it wasn’t exactly the best, but it was something that did happen. And they did let students twerk on them.”

The drag queen told the station that he works with the school’s Gay–Straight Alliance.
“He claims he did not get paid for the performance, and it went up the correct chain. However, he wouldn’t tell us who exactly that included or who booked him,” the report adds. “There is commentary on one version of the video going around, claiming the performer stripped during the prom. Joshua Kolotka, 33, was arrested by police in Glades County on Wednesday for allegedly trying to steal a boat.
Gulf Live reports, “Glades County Sheriff’s Office deputies were actively searching for a man they suspected of stealing a boat in the old Calusa Lodge area of Lakeport, Florida when they noticed someone exiting a nearby home.”
Though Kolotka wore a long blonde wig and a blue dress, deputies immediately recognized him.
In a post on Facebook, the Glades County Sheriff’s Office wrote, “The deputies were able to apprehend Joshua Kolotka and he was arrested for two Okeechobee County warrants, along with the theft of a John Deere Gator and the stolen boat.”
“It should also be noted that numerous other items were located on-scene,” the post continued. “These items were possibly stolen from the same area.”
The Glades County Sheriff’s Office is now working with the Seminole Police Department to identify some of the stolen items from other theft cases in that area.

Oklahoma City Police said Harrison was mad that the driver would not make an unscheduled stop due to the city’s policy.
Local station KFOR reports, “Another angle showed a passenger try to break up the attack as the driver is thrown to the floor. Shortly after, the bus can been seen veering off the road and into a business. A seat belt saved the bus driver from being thrown through the windshield.”
The driver was not seriously injured but had some mild bumps and bruises.

“Obviously (the driver) had some bumps and bruises. We got him to medical facilities right after and he’s off work now but doing well,” Jason Ferbrache, OKC Director of Public Transportation and Parking Department, told the local news station.
Ferbrache praised the driver for doing everything he could to keep the passengers safe.
“When you run into a situation like that, no matter how much training you have, it’s very difficult to prepare for somebody really assaulting you while you’re operating a vehicle in motion,” said Ferbrache.
Harrison fled the scene but was eventually captured by police.

The man goes after the security guard, a plain-clothed police officer, telling him he will “f-cking smack” him. He then punches the guard in the head, and a fight breaks out.
In a statement from his office, obtained by The Hill, the mayor said he is thankful for his security guard and the entire police department.
“Mayor Matt Mahan is deeply grateful to his security detail and the entire San Jose Police Department,” Mahan’s spokesperson Tasha Dean said in a statement. “The actions of the Officer were heroic and a testament to the de-escalation training that makes our officers effective, compassionate and stewards of community trust.”
Mahan’s spokesperson said he is “resolved in his commitment to create a safer city for everyone.”
“That means hiring more police officers and addressing the root causes of crime, including by intervening earlier and more effectively in cycles of addiction, mental illness and violence,” the spokesperson said.
San Jose Police Department Acting Chief Paul Joseph said in a statement that the suspect had an open arrest warrant in Georgia for “resisting arrest with violence.”

Dazhon Darien, 31, was charged with disrupting school activities in January by impersonating Principal Eric Eiswert’s voice and spreading the audio on social media.
“The audio clip … had profound repercussions,” police wrote in charging documents obtained by the Baltimore Banner. “It not only led to Eiswert’s temporary removal from the school but also triggered a wave of hate-filled messages on social media and numerous calls to the school. The recording also caused significant disruptions for the PHS staff and students.”
Darien has also been charged with “theft and retaliating against a witness, related to alleged illicit payments he made to a school athletics coach, as well as stalking,” according to the report.
In the ai generated recording, a voice that sounds like Eiswert can be heard making disparaging comments about black and Jewish people. For example, the recording blasts “ungrateful Black kids who can’t test their way out of a paper bag” and says, “if I have to get one more complaint from one more Jew in this community, I’m going to join the other side.”

Questions about the audio’s authenticity quickly followed. Police wrote in charging documents that Darien had accessed the school’s network on multiple occasions in December and January searching for OpenAI tools, and used “Large Language Models” that practice “deep learning, which involves pulling in vast amounts of data from various sources on the internet, can recognize text inputted by the user, and produce conversational results.” They also connected Darien to an email account that had distributed the recording.
Many current and former students believed Eiswert was responsible for the offensive remarks, while former colleagues denounced the audio and defended Eiswert’s character. Eiswert himself has denied making those comments and said the comments do not align with his views.
The audio, posted to the popular Instagram account murder_ink_bmore, prompted a Baltimore County Public Schools and Baltimore County Police investigation. Eiswert has not been working in the school since the investigation began.
The night before the audio went viral, it was sent to three teachers at the school, including Shaena Ravenell who sent it to a student she knew would spread it far and wide.
Ravenell also contacted the media and NAACP. She has since resigned.

The unnamed 30-year-old Honduran national was arrested in Bladensburg, Maryland, on April 15 — after being released by Fairfax County twice.
“This Honduran noncitizen stands accused of some very serious crimes and represented a threat to the children of the Washington, D.C. area,” ICE said in a press release.
“When local jurisdictions have policies in place which prohibit them from cooperating with ICE ERO and from honoring our lawfully issued detainers and administrative warrants, they put the suspects, law enforcement officers, and most importantly, the members of our local communities at risk.”
It is unknown when the man first came to the United States, but he was arrested for the first time on July 5, 2023. He was charged with felony carnal knowledge of a child 13 to 14 years of age, without force.
ICE placed an immigration detainer on him, but the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center “did not honor” the request. He was released from custody on a $10,000 bond on July 10, 2023.
Fox News reports, “Fairfax County police arrested the man again in February and charged him with two additional counts of felony carnal knowledge of a child 13 to14 years of age without force, and two counts of felony indecent liberties with a child less than 15 years of age.”
“The jail then released the man from custody later that same day before ERO could file an immigration detainer.”
The predator will now remain in ICE custody during the removal proceedings.

Wray explained that there are “elevated fears about a coordinated terror attack in a public place” due to people being radicalized by the Israel/Gaza war.
“We are increasingly concerned [about] the potential for some kind of coordinated attack here in the homeland, which may be not that different from what you saw against the concert hall in Russia a few weeks ago from ISIS-K,” Wray said.
The concert attack left 144 people dead and many more injured.
Regarding protests on American college campuses, Wray said, the FBI is “keenly focused on working with state and local law enforcement, campus law enforcement, others to try to make sure that we stay ahead” of the threat of antisemitic violence” and prevent violence against the Jewish community.”
The FBI, he claimed, doesn’t monitor protests but does “share intelligence about specific threats of violence with campuses, with state and local law enforcement.”

The FDA, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are still investigating the contaminated milk.
Though the investigation is ongoing, the agencies said it is believed to be safe for human consumption.
“To date, we have seen nothing that would change our assessment that the commercial milk supply is safe,” the FDA said in an update on Tuesday, citing “the pasteurization process” and “the diversion or destruction of milk from sick cows.”
The FDA update explained, “As noted by USDA and some press reports from the World Health Organization (WHO) and other sources, the presence of the virus has been detected in raw milk. Based on available information, pasteurization is likely to inactivate the virus, however the process is not expected to remove the presence of viral particles. Therefore, some of the samples collected have indicated the presence of HPAI using quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) testing.”
However, the FDA is warning against consuming raw milk.
“The FDA has a long-standing recommendation to consumers not to consume raw milk (milk that has not been pasteurized). Because of the limited information available about the possible transmission of H5N1 virus via raw milk, the FDA continues to recommend that industry does not manufacture or sell raw milk or raw milk products, including raw milk cheese, made with milk from cows showing symptoms of illness, including those infected with avian influenza viruses or exposed to those infected with avian influenza viruses.”
Dairy cows in Idaho, Kansas, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas, and South Dakota have tested positive for the Type A H5N1 virus.

While the virus has caused mass deaths in wild bird and other animal populations – even killing thousands of sea lions in South America – the most common symptoms in dairy cows have included decreased lactation and low appetite, according to the FDA.
Two people in U.S. have been infected with bird flu to date. A Texas dairy worker who was in close contact with an infected cow recently developed a mild eye infection and has recovered. In 2022, a prison inmate in a work program caught it while killing infected birds at a Colorado poultry farm. His only symptom was fatigue, and he also recovered.
Federal officials say they continue to confirm the effectiveness of pasteurization as they test milk at various steps in the production process, including samples from store shelves.

Ephraim Matthew Hunter, 29, allegedly smashed a window with a hammer to gain entry to the home.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Bass and her family were inside the home when the suspect broke in. It is unclear if there was a confrontation.
“Around 6:40 AM this morning an individual smashed a window to gain entry into the Getty House while occupied,” the LAPD wrote in a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

In all capital letters, Trump concluded the post by urging his supporters to go out and peacefully protest.

A CBP source, not authorized to speak to the media, told Breitbart Texas the number of Chinese migrants apprehended represents a more than threefold increase from the same time last year. The source told Breitbart that China is now within the top ten nationalities encountered by the Border Patrol along the southern border. The bulk of the Chinese nationals are released into the United States almost immediately the source says as China adamantly refuses to take their citizens back.
“We have only conducted one repatriation flight back to China recently,” the source lamented. “Until that changes, unless we have specific derogatory information about an individual, we are releasing. There’s just no other option.”
The agency remains baffled by the continued increase in Chinese migrant arrivals. Twice as many PRC nationals entered Southern California during the third week of April than the entire 2021 fiscal year when a total of 342 PRC nationals were encountered by the Border Patrol along the entire Southwest border. According to the source, intelligence debriefings yield little information about the migrants and their purpose for entering. The language barrier and the sheer volume of crossings and apprehensions is a major challenge according to the source.
“We want to focus on the threats posed by the Government of China and not cast aspersions on all the people of China, but governments are people and at this point,” the CBP source told the outlet. “We are in the dark concerning who is a foe and who is a friend.”

Union President Douglas Griffith explained the department couldn’t retain officers in the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter movement.
“We’re in a perfect storm right now,” Griffith said. “We had the George Floyd effect come down. We can’t hire. We can’t retain our officers. The people are leaving left and right.”
“Who in the heck wants to be a police officer in 2024?” Hunt asked, “when every single thing that they’re doing is going to be second-guessed by their body-worn camera that someone can watch three or four times to determine whether or not that officer made the right split-second decision. I don’t know who would want to do that. I could not encourage any of my family to come be a police officer in 2024 with the situation that’s going on.”
Griffith said the shortage is so bad that the department “will never be able to be able to investigate” every case.
The union president also laid part of the blame on the court system for “not doing their job.”
“Their contention is that we can’t hold somebody. We have to give everybody a bond, yes, the first time. Once they violate that bond, they can be held in jail until they go to court again. And we get people on six, seven, eight, nine bonds at one time. And that’s a problem that we have to fix in the courts. And with the DA’s office, you try to make sure that these public offenders can’t be continued to roam the streets and victimize our citizens.”

Mt. Morris Township Police Chief Michael Veach told local station WNEM that the grandmother and child had been called into the school for a behavioral meeting.
The report explains:
Veach said the grandmother saw another girl her granddaughter was having trouble with, so she and her granddaughter followed her into a bathroom.
The grandmother then held down the girl while her granddaughter punched her, Veach said.
The grandmother is currently detained at the Genesee County Jail.

Our office believes that this status quo is unacceptable and is working to urgently address this crisis, with both short term and long term solutions.”

Fox News reports, “Asking the faithful to interrogate their own hatreds and resentments, the bishop pointed out that destructive lack of forgiveness does not apply only to individuals they know, but also public figures and institutions.”
“If you’re harboring bad, negative, resentful feelings towards our president, you’re not free,” Gruss said. “Otherwise, you’re letting him control you and your thoughts and your words and your actions. And I guarantee that if he is a problem for you, then those thoughts, words, and actions are negative — they’re gonna come out and then we commit sin. That’s what sin is.”
“How many times have you confessed your anger towards the president?” the bishop asked, making the crowd laugh. “I’m serious, I’m not kidding. If you have it, you should be confessing it. Otherwise, you’re not free.”
Gruss said that as far as his opinion of Biden, he pities him.

The much-anticipated fourth Bitcoin “halving” event has come and gone with little fanfare or market reaction. Many participants noted that the change was already priced in by market makers.
Bitcoin “halving” is a pre-coded software update that reduces the reward for miners–network operators who play a crucial role by devoting their processing power to the “discovery” of new coins. These halving events occur every 210,000 blocks mined, historically equating to one halving event every four years.
Speaking to The Block, crypto exchange Kraken’s head of strategy Thomase Perfumo explained that this halving was possibly the “most significant” yet:
“Firstly, after April 2024, nearly 95% of all bitcoins that will ever exist will have been mined. Furthermore, the annualized growth of bitcoin’s supply each year will soon fall to less than 1% for the first time,” Perfumo said.
These changes might result in some network underperformance as some players choose to exit the market, as Binance CEO Richard Teng cautioned:
“The Bitcoin network has shown resilience in the face of such challenges in the past. Advancements in mining technology and strategies, as well as potential adjustments in mining difficulty, could mitigate the impact of reduced miner participation,” Teng said. “Additionally, some miners may opt to switch to mining altcoins or explore alternative revenue streams within the crypto space, which could help maintain a balance in the overall mining ecosystem.”
But for those speculating on the future price of the cryptocurrency, halving events are often a moment of jubilation. Billionaire Tim Draper explained his cause for celebration to Cointelegraph, predicting that the price may rise up to $250,000.
“The simple reason that Bitcoin price goes up after the halving is that the supply goes down, and with continued upward pressure on demand, the price goes up naturally in a free market,” he said.
When Nakamoto launched Bitcoin in 2009, the block reward distributed to miners amounted to 50 BTC. The first halving event in 2012 reduced this reward to 25, and the subsequent rounds in 2016 and 2020 reduced this reward further to 12.5 and 6.25, respectively.
Bitcoin incorporates a hard cap of 21 million on the total number of coins able to be discovered. With blocks–components of the public ledger that validate transactions processed during a given period–averaging 10 minutes for their discovery, the network will continue to produce new coins for miners until 2140.
At this point, miners will still profit from their involvement in the bitcoin infrastructure, but will do so solely by collecting fees from end users sending bitcoin to one another.

The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office said the incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Thursday while the helicopter was flying over 7th Street Northwest and 11th Avenue in Largo.
In a video shot inside the helicopter, released by the sheriff’s office, the deputies locate the boy pointing the laser and direct law enforcement on the ground to his location.

Body camera footage from deputies on the ground show them approaching the young teen, who had a flare gun with a mounted green laser in his jacket.
The boy told the deputies that he did not know it was a law enforcement helicopter and was just shining the laser because he was “bored.”
According to a report from Fox News, “The boy was arrested and charged with felony misuse of a laser lighting device. He was taken to the Pinellas County Juvenile Assessment Center.”
“According to Florida statute, it is a third-degree felony for any person to knowingly and willfully shine, point or focus the beam of a laser lighting device on an individual operating a motor vehicle, vessel or aircraft,” the report added.

The Post reports that when police arrived, instead of removing the migrants, they asked to see a copy of the club team’s city permit.
“When you show up with two teams in uniform, a ref and two coaches, usually nobody is asking to see your permit,” Johansson said.
By the time the permit was located, 30 minutes had passed, and the teams no longer felt safe playing there.
“Even when the game is over, you don’t know if they’re waiting for you, so even if the cops kicked them out, it may not be over. So we just all agreed, this is too dangerous,” Johansson said.
Johansson is from Sweden and knows how quickly migrant confrontations can go south.
“I have seen this before, I know how bad it can get,” he said.
Parents told Johansson that they no longer want their kids to play at that field, and the coach said that they do not plan to return.
“It’s so frustrating that the guys who refused to follow the rules won,” Maud Maron, mother of one of the boys on the team, told The Post. “That’s the message the kids got.”

Speaking to the New York Post from jail, Avenatti said he is in contact with Trump’s legal team and is willing to speak out against his former client.
“The defense has contacted me,” Avenatti told The Post.
Avenatti is currently being held at Terminal Island, a minimum-security federal prison in Los Angeles, serving a 19-year sentence for a slate of federal crimes that include extortion, tax evasion, fraud, and embezzlement.
“I’d be more than happy to testify, I don’t know that I will be called to testify, but I have been in touch with Trump’s defense for the better part of year,” Avenatti said.
The Post reports that Avenatti would not provide any additional details about the discussion, but an unnamed source “close to Trump” confirmed that the discussions are taking place.
Avenatti used to be one of Trump’s loudest critics, but he has seemingly dramatically changed his position.
“There’s no question [the trial] is politically motivated because they’re concerned that he may be reelected,” Avenatti told the newspaper. “If the defendant was anyone other than Donald Trump, this case would not have been brought at this time, and for the government to attempt to bring this case and convict him in an effort to prevent tens of millions of people from voting for him, I think it’s just flat out wrong, and atrocious.”
“I’m really bothered by the fact that Trump, in my view, has been targeted. Four cases is just over the top and I think there’s a significant chance that this is going to all backfire and is going to propel him to the White House,” Avenatti added.
The former lawyer continued, “Depending on what happens, this could constitute pouring jet fuel on his campaign.”
Trump is on trial in NYC over an alleged $130,000 payment to Daniels to keep her quiet during the 2016 election. She has alleged that she had a tryst with the former president many years ago.
“Stormy Daniels is going to say whatever she believes is going to assist Stormy Daniels and putting more money in her pocket,” Avenatti said. “If Stormy Daniels lips are moving, she’s lying for money.”
Avenatti explained that he feels like he and Trump have both been targeted by politically motivated prosecutions.
“I think that we were both targeted by the justice system,” Avenatti said. “There’s a lot of people on the left that were very concerned about my potential rise within the Democratic Party and my potential rise in Democratic politics. And the fact that I was not someone that was easily controlled.”
The imprisoned former lawyer also claimed that he is not fishing for a pardon in case Trump wins a second term.
“I’m not saying any of this because I’m seeking a pardon,” Avenatti told The Post. “I wish I would have never met Stormy Daniels. I should have left her where I found her.”

Stephanie Arevalo, 34, told the Bryan Police Department that her husband, who has not been publicly identified, deserved to be shot.
Local station KBTX reports:
According to an arrest report released on Wednesday, Stephanie Arevalo shot her husband in the leg after he was allegedly caught cheating. She also threatened to shoot the other woman who was also there at the house. The report says after shooting him, she called 911 and waited for officers to get there.
The shooting victim was treated at the hospital for a non-life threatening injury and released soon after.
Arevalo has been charged with Aggravated Assault/Family Violence with a Deadly Weapon.
She was bonded out of jail two days later.
Arevalo’s next court date has not been scheduled.

The Longview Fire Department announced the discovery in a post on Facebook.
“The Longview Fire Department would like to make the public aware of a potentially dangerous situation in our community. We had recent encounter with ‘candy’ that tested positive for fentanyl,” the post read.
“This is a narcotic that can be lethal when ingested. This drug is being used to lace other substances and cannot be detected through taste or smell.”
The fire department continued, “If you or someone you know comes in contact or you believe you have ingested fentanyl or any other illicit drug you should call 911 immediately to seek medical treatment.”
No additional details were provided about how or where the “candy” was obtained.
As little as 2 milligrams of fentanyl can kill a person, depending on their body size.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website, “Pharmaceutical fentanyl is a synthetic opioid approved for treating severe pain, typically advanced cancer pain. It is 50 to 100 times more potent than morphine. It is prescribed in the form of transdermal patches or lozenges and can be diverted for misuse and abuse in the United States.”
“However, most recent cases of fentanyl-related harm, overdose, and death in the U.S. are linked to illegally made fentanyl. It is sold through illegal drug markets for its heroin-like effect. It is often mixed with heroin and/or cocaine as a combination product—with or without the user’s knowledge—to increase its euphoric effects,” the website continues.

Mulvaney is slated to “talk about her experiences as a trans actress, activist, and content creator,” according to the university’s website.
Transgender groups are celebrating Mulvaney’s appearance at the university.
“Obviously giving a voice to trans people at a Jesuit institution is a big deal,” said Micah Ballard, director of development and finance at St. Louis’ Metro Trans Umbrella Group, according to a report from STL Today. “It’s cool to see them bringing in a very different perspective students aren’t used to.”
Alexandra Leung, president of SLU’s College Republicans, told the paper that “Mulvaney’s message contradicts SLU’s Catholic teachings.”
“Mulvaney’s comments have been deemed disrespectful and derogatory towards women and to SLU’s central mission,” Leung said in a statement.
The report adds, “She said the College Republicans tried to get women’s sports activist Paula Scanlan to come speak the day after Mulvaney’s visit, to balance viewpoints, but was told by the school that security could not accommodate their request.”

Max Azzarello, 37, from St. Augustine, succumbed to his injuries from self-immolation on Friday night — hours after being transported to the hospital.
The protester had poured an accelerant on himself and lit a fire in full view of national media outlets that were reporting from outside the trial.
Azzarello described himself as “an investigative researcher” in a Substack post titled, “I have set myself on fire outside the Trump Trial.”
On Instagram, Azzarello had posted a photo from Politicon in which he is wearing a Bernie Sanders shirt that reads “Eat the Rich” and posing with Newt Gingrich. In the caption, he joked that he had got to meet Sanders.
The deceased protester’s Instagram page was still active as of early Saturday morning.
He had also posted on Facebook about spending three days in a psych ward in August.
Azzarello’s online manifesto contained a complex conspiracy theory involving Peter Thiel, cryptocurrency, and “an apocalyptic fascist world coup.”
Before fatally lighting himself on fire, Azzarello had been seen outside the courthouse holding a sign that read, “Trump is with Biden and they’re about to facist coup us.”
The Daily Mail reports, “the activist had recently completed 180 days probation for a string of incidents in The Sunshine state, involving either disorderly conduct and destruction of property – and overall erratic, ‘rambling’ behavior.”
“DailyMail.com obtained criminal complaints for each, all taking place within a matter of days in August,” the report continued.
During the first incident, Azzarello allegedly threw wine at a framed and autographed photo of former President Bill Clinton at the Casa Monica Hotel in Saint Augustine on August 19. He then threw his glass at the photograph, breaking the frame and damaging the autograph with his drink.
On August 21, he was again arrested at the hotel, after they reported him for “standing outside, stripping his clothes off and yelling at customers.” The police report, obtained by the Mail, said he was “wearing nothing but his underwear, standing on the sidewalk[, and] holing [sic] a speaker blasting music and yelling.”
Three days later, on August 24, “he was arrested once more for graffitiing property and rifling through a woman’s belongings in the flatbed of her truck, after allegedly being seen yelling in someone’s yards after ‘misinterpreting’ an exterminator’s sign warning people to keep their children and pets off a lawn that had just been treated,” the Mail reports.
Azzarello was reportedly convinced that the pest company was trying to “exterminate children and dogs.”

Biochemist Hridindu Sankar Roychowdhury, 29, was caught by police using DNA from a half-eaten burrito that they left at the scene of the crime.
Roychowdhury had thrown two Molotov cocktails through a window he broke, set a bookcase on fire, and spraypainted “If abortions aren’t safe then you aren’t either” on the front of the building.
The arsonist was facing up to 20 years in prison but has accepted a plea agreement to reduce his sentence.
Wisconsin Family Action president emeritus Julaine Appling spoke at the sentencing hearing, saying, “May 8, 2022, is forever emblazoned on my mind. It was a very visual reminder that people who disagree with us can and will use violence to try to silence us.”
Appling had asked the court to sentence the arsonist to 15 years in prison.
“We recommended the defendant receive 15 years imprisonment,” Appling continued. “We based that on justice—on the punishment fitting the crime, not on retribution or vengeance. This was a serious, premeditated crime that was the first of nearly 100 attacks on prolife organizations across the country. In light of this, we are disappointed in the judge’s decision regarding a crime the judge called ‘terrorism’ multiple times. The US Attorney’s office had also recommended 12-15 years imprisonment. A civil society does not exist if violence is the default reaction to disagreeing with people.”
President Christine File added, “We are disappointed. The court missed an opportunity to strengthen the protection of constitutional rights like free speech and free exercise, rights that have themselves been under assault in recent years. The defendant’s act of domestic terrorism to threaten our people, our families and friends, our neighbors, and our greater pro-life community is unconscionable. Ultimately, the defendant—and others who attacked pro-life groups they disagree with—attacked our civil society and the constitutional rights foundational to it.”
“It is notable that nearly 60 people filled the courtroom to support this person who committed a violent, unprovoked, and hate-filled crime. Will the society-of-tomorrow support terrorism intended to silence people with whom we disagree? But perhaps most concerning, in the two years since the attack the defendant did not at any point express remorse to the people he targeted and harmed—until the judge asked him. We would’ve expected the court to have weighed this callousness towards us more significantly. Given the severity of his crime and the charges he pled guilty to, the sentence lacks proportionality. However, as we’ve said since the day of the attack, no act or threat of violence or terrorism will deter us from our mission—being a voice for the voiceless.”
Investigators found the DNA of two other people at the crime scene, but they have not yet been identified.
Roychowdhury was apprehended at Boston International Airport in March of this year. He had a one-way ticket to leave for Guatemala when he was arrested.

The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) challenged the law in 2021 on behalf of track athlete Becky Pepper-Jackson, a “transgender” eighth-grade student.
The ACLU had argued that Pepper-Jackson was being discriminated against and should be allowed to play with girls because he had not gone through male puberty.
On Tuesday, Fourth Circuit Judge Toby Heytens, who was appointed by Joe Biden, ruled that the law violated transgender athletes’ constitutional rights and violated Title IX.
“The Act’s sole purpose — and its sole effect — is to prevent transgender girls from playing on girls teams,” Heytens wrote in the appellate ruling Tuesday, according to a report from The Hill.
“Offering B.P.J. a ‘choice’ between not participating in sports and participating only on boys teams is no real choice at all,” Heytens wrote. “The defendants cannot expect that B.P.J. will countermand her social transition, her medical treatment, and all the work she has done with her schools, teachers, and coaches for nearly half her life by introducing herself to teammates, coaches, and even opponents as a boy.”
Ironically, the judge complained that it would not be fair for Pepper-Jackson to play against boys because they are “larger, stronger, and faster” than him. The exact reason the bill was enacted to protect real girls in the first place.
“By participating on boys teams, B.P.J. would be sharing the field with boys who are larger, stronger, and faster than her because of the elevated levels of circulating testosterone she lacks,” he wrote. “The Act thus exposes B.P.J. to the very harms Title IX is meant to prevent by effectively ‘exclud[ing]’ her from ‘participation in’ all non-coed sports entirely.”
The Hill noted, “Heytens, who was appointed by President Biden, was joined in the decision by Judge Pamela Harris, an Obama appointee. Judge Steven Agee, who was appointed by former president George W. Bush, concurred in allowing Pepper-Jackson to compete but dissented in the court’s Title IX decision.”
The ACLU celebrated the decision.
“We hope today’s ruling sends a message of hope to the trans youth of West Virginia,” ACLU of West Virginia Director Aubrey Sparks said in a statement. “And a message of warning to politicians who continue to dehumanize this vulnerable population.”
West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has promised that the fight to protect girls’ sports is not over.
“I am deeply disappointed in the court’s divided decision today,” Attorney General Morrisey said in a press release. “The Save Women’s Sports Act is ‘constitutionally permissible’ and the law complies with Title IX.”
“I will keep fighting to safeguard Title IX. We must keep working to protect women’s sports so that women’s safety is secured and girls have a truly fair playing field,” the Attorney General added. “We know the law is correct and will use every available tool to defend it.”
“We remain confident in the merits of our defense. We are resolute in protecting opportunities for women and girls in sports because when biological males win in a women’s event—as has happened time and again—female athletes lose their opportunity to shine.”

Adam “Sabrina” Hetke, 35, was convicted last week of first-degree sexual assault by threatening the use of a dangerous weapon and second-degree assault of a mentally ill victim for an attack on a 16-year-old developmentally disabled girl.
Hetke was already a registered sex offender and was released from prison in November 2020
The Waukesha County Freeman reports, “According to the complaint in the case, Hetke met a 16-year-old girl with cognitive disabilities at a Waukesha gas station on July 6, 2021, went to her nearby home, and allegedly sexually assaulted her while keeping a knife nearby and threatening to use it before she jumped out of a bedroom window.”
“Victim A said that the Defendant ‘told her that he was a vampire and that he would bite her if she didn’t do what he wanted,” the complaint said.
Hetke is to be sentenced for the sexual assault on June 7.
The self-described “vampire” is also facing homicide charges in Milwaukee for the April 2021 death of Vydale Thompson-Moody, 28, who also had a cognitive disability.
“Hetke told Milwaukee police the victim in that case was ‘possessed by a demon’ and began stabbing himself in the chest with tongs. Hetke said she was able to exorcise the demon, but the demon then caused the victim to wrap a cord around his neck and pull the ends,” the complaint says.
The New York Post reports, “One witness said he was scared of Hetke, who also went by the name ‘Morrigan’ and claimed she could inject demons into people’s bodies.”
Hetke told the witness that he could inject demons into people’s bodies.
“I killed him. God can’t bring him back, but I can because I’m the devil,” Hetke said, according to the complaint.

The organizations argued that debates have “played a vital role in every presidential election of the past 50 years, dating to 1976.”
“Though it is too early for invitations to be extended to any candidates, it is not too early for candidates who expect to meet the eligibility criteria to publicly state their support for – and their intention to participate in – the Commission’s debates planned for this fall,” the letter continues.
Trump has already vowed to debate Biden “anytime, anywhere anyplace,” but Biden has refused to commit.
Biden told reporters in February, “If I were him, I’d want him to debate me, too. He’s got nothing else to do.”

“Grace” Lavery is a biological man but identifies as a “woman,” and Daniel Lavery is a biological woman who now identifies as “male.”
The transgender couple began dating while both were in the middle of “transitioning” in 2018 and married in 2019.

The baby was born on April 3.
When Woodruff announced her pregnancy in December, she wrote that she would be having “the gayest baby in the Tri-State area.”
“Keep our multilateral parenting squad in your hearts and vibes until early April … We look forward to introducing you soon to the gayest baby in the Tri-State area,” she wrote.

There have been months of speculation that he was angling for the Libertarian Party nomination.
Kennedy told a reporter with ABC News on Saturday night that he would run independently.
“We’re not gonna have any problems getting on the ballot ourselves so we won’t be running libertarian,” Kennedy said.

Kennedy’s campaign confirmed the news in a statement to The Hill on Sunday.
“Mr. Kennedy has many areas of alignment with the Libertarian Party, including a strong stance on civil liberties and keeping the country out of foreign wars,” a spokesperson for Kennedy’s campaign told the outlet.
The statement continued, “Mr. Kennedy, however, is not contemplating joining the Libertarian ticket. He is running as an Independent candidate and will be on the ballot in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.”
Both Democrats and Republicans have expressed concern that Kennedy may act as a spoiler for either party.

The Pew Research Center released data from their American Trends Panel survey on Thursday, which found only 22 percent of adults have a positive opinion of the federal government.
Pew reports, “State governments get mixed ratings: 50% of adults have a favorable opinion and 49% have an unfavorable view. This reflects a 4-point decline in favorability since 2022 and a 9-point decline since 2019.”
Additionally, “61% of adults rate their local government positively. But this, too, is down from 66% in 2022 and 69% in 2019.”
Democrats are approximately three times as likely as Republicans to have a positive view of the federal government.
Only about 11 percent of Republicans or Republican-leaning Americans have a similarly favorable view.
Pew reports that views on state governments vary widely depending on whether the respondents’ political party is in power.
“For example, 70% of Republicans living in states with Republican leadership have a positive view of their state government. By comparison, just 43% of Republicans living in states with split control – and only 22% of Republicans living in states with Democratic leadership – have a positive view,” Pew found. “The pattern among Democrats is similar.”
Local governments, on the other hand, have a majority favorable view across party lines.
“Americans differ little by party in opinion of their local government, with similar shares of Republicans (63%) and Democrats (64%) holding favorable views,” the report states.

Payne, a relentless advocate for the COVID vaccine, said in a statement that complications from his diabetes prompted the incident.
“Congressman Donald M. Payne, Jr. suffered a cardiac episode based on complications from his diabetes during the weekend,” Payne’s office said in a statement on Monday.
Payne’s office said that he is expected to fully recover, though he remains hospitalized.
The statement continued, “He was admitted to a local hospital for treatment. Currently, he is recovering in the hospital as doctors conduct routine exams to monitor and observe his improvement. The Congressman’s prognosis is good and he is expected to make a full recovery.”
The statement also said that Payne will be out of Congress for the week while he recovers.
Fellow New Jersey Democrat Rep. Mikie Sherrill responded to the news by saying that Payne is a “fighter” in a statement posted to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Assange has been held at Belmarsh prison in London since April 2019 as the US government works to extradite him. Before his arrest, he had been living in the Ecuadorian Embassy with asylum since June 2012.
He is currently facing charges under the Espionage Act for publishing the Iraq and Afghan War Logs. If convicted, the publisher could face a maximum sentence of 175 years in prison for publishing the leaked materials.
Assange’s extradition has been on hold since March when London’s High Court said the US must assure the court that he will not face the death penalty.

Alexander Scott Mercurio, 18, of Coeur d’Alene, was arrested on Saturday, April 6, for attempting to provide material support and resources to the terror organization.
According to the affidavit in support of the criminal complaint, Mercurio pledged his allegiance to ISIS and “planned to attack individuals at churches in Coeur d’Alene on April 7 using weapons, including knives, firearms, and fire.”
Mercurio’s plan, according to the complant, was to attack his father with a metal pipe, steal his guns, and carry out a suicide attack at local churches.
“As alleged in the complaint, the defendant swore an oath of loyalty to ISIS and planned to wage an attack in its name on churches in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho,” said Attorney General Merrick B. Garland.
Garland continued, “Thanks to the investigative efforts of the FBI, the defendant was taken into custody before he could act, and he is now charged with attempting to support ISIS’s mission of terror and violence. The Justice Department will continue to relentlessly pursue, disrupt, and hold accountable those who would commit acts of terrorism against the people and interests of the United States.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray added, “The defendant allegedly pledged loyalty to ISIS and sought to attack people attending churches in Idaho, a truly horrific plan which was detected and thwarted by the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force.”
“This investigation demonstrates the FBI’s steadfast commitment to work with our law enforcement partners to stop those who wish to commit acts of violence on behalf of – or inspired by – foreign terrorist groups,” Wray continued.
The FBI said that the case should open people’s eyes to the dangers of self-radicalization.
“This case should be an eye-opener to the dangers of self-radicalization, which is a real threat to our communities,” said Special Agent in Charge Shohini Sinha of the Salt Lake City FBI. “Protecting the American people from terrorism remains the FBI’s number one priority, and we continue to encourage the public to report anything suspicious to the FBI or your local law enforcement.”
Mercurio remains in custody pending his initial court appearance. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison if convicted.
