Conservative Think Tank Debunks Harris’ Claim That Late-Term Abortions Don’t Happen

FIRST ON THE DAILY SIGNAL—Late-term abortion is happening all the time, despite Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris’ denial at last week’s debate, according to a memo from a think tank founded by former Vice President Mike Pence.

Thousands of babies who could survive outside the womb are aborted every year, the memo from Advancing American Freedom says.

Advancing American Freedom, which Pence founded in 2021, is a conservative think tank dedicated to promoting the policies of the Trump-Pence administration, according to the organization’s website.

About 0.9% of abortions in 2021 were performed at or after 21 weeks, when the baby can survive outside the womb with proper medical care, according to Centers for Disease Control and Prevention data. Since the CDC tabulated 625,978 legal induced abortions in the 48 states that report them, that means abortionists killed at least 5,600 babies who were at or beyond 21 weeks gestation that year.

Yet Vice President Kamala Harris said during the presidential debate that women aren’t getting late-term abortions.

“Nowhere in America is a woman carrying a pregnancy to term and asking for an abortion—that is not happening,” Harris said in her debate last Tuesday with former President Donald Trump hosted by ABC News.

The former chairwoman of the Florida Democratic Party was caught on camera advocating for abortions “all the way to the end” of pregnancy in an undercover recording made at last month’s Democratic National Convention in Chicago.

Nine states and Washington, D.C., have no time limit on abortion. Five premature babies, likely the victims of partial-birth abortions, were recovered from a D.C. abortion center in 2022.

Former Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam said the fate of babies who survive failed abortions should be between the doctor and the mother, Advancing American Freedom pointed out in the memo.

“If a mother is in labor…the infant would be delivered,” Northam explained in a 2019 radio interview. “The infant would be kept comfortable. The infant would be resuscitated, if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and mother.”

Here’s the video of Ralph Northam saying he’s cool with killing babies born alive after botched abortions.

Kamala’s lying. This happens.

Warren Hern, a well-known late-term abortionist in Colorado, told The Atlantic in a profile that he performs abortions well after viability, including sex-selective abortions. He said about half the babies he aborts are healthy and have no fetal abnormalities.

Hern believes that the “viability of a fetus is determined not by gestational age but by a woman’s willingness to carry it,” The Atlantic reported.

A Pennsylvania jury convicted infamous late-term abortionist Kermit Gosnell of murder in 2013 for slitting the necks of babies born-alive, the Advancing American Freedom memo highlights.

Pro-life activists have called abortion clinics to ask if they perform late-term abortions. A clinic offered Students for Life President Kristan Hawkins an abortion at 34 weeks.

Last night during the debate, @ABC said that late-term abortions don’t happen. Obviously, abortion extremist @KamalaHarris got on board with that lie.

Literally just call a late-term abortion facility to fact-check that false… like I did. pic.twitter.com/XtsuaVfgh9

— Kristan Hawkins (@KristanHawkins) September 11, 2024

“Late-term abortions happen all the time,” Advancing American Freedom said in the memo. “Anyone saying otherwise is misinformed or lying. We must stand for life and confront the dark reality of abortion.”

‘Maybe God Wants Me to Be President’: 4 Takeaways From Trump’s Remarks on Surviving Second Assassination Attempt

God may have allowed Donald Trump to survive two assassination attempts so that he could be president again, the former president said in an X Space interview on Monday night.

“There’s something going on,” said Trump, the Republican nominee for president. “I mean, perhaps it’s God wanting me to be president, to save this country. Nobody knows.”

This was Trump’s first public event since a gunman attempted to assassinate him as he golfed Sunday at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida.

“It was quite something, but it worked out well, and Secret Service did an excellent job, and they have the man behind bars, and hopefully, he’s going to be there for a long time,” Trump said. “Dangerous person, very, very dangerous person.”

1. Trump Thanks Secret Service, Police, Alert Citizen

Trump said he was playing golf with some friends on a peaceful Sunday morning when he heard gunfire.

“Everything was beautiful, nice place to be, and all of a sudden we heard shots being fired in the air, and I guess probably four or five, and it sounded like bullets,” he said.

A Secret Service agent then “did a fantastic job” getting Trump and his friend off the course. Secret Service members fired at the gunman, who has now been identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, but he fled in his vehicle.

“Amazingly, a civilian in that area saw something, and it looked very suspicious, and in the car, drove their car to the back of his truck of some kind, and took pictures of the license plate, and gave them to the sheriff’s office,” the former president said.

Police were able to use a license-plate reader to find the gunman’s plate to pinpoint his location on the highway.

“Within a fairly short period of time, they tracked him down on the highways, pretty high-speed chase, and they ended up getting them,” Trump said.

“So, the agent did a fantastic job,” he continued. “The civilian did a phenomenal job.”

“I would have loved to have sank that last putt, but we decided, let’s get out of here,” Trump joked.

2. Trump Faults Democrats’ Violent Rhetoric for Attacks

Trump said Democrats’ “rhetoric” calling him “a threat to democracy” and other epithets likely contributed to the assassination attempts.

Both shooters were members of the radical Left, according to Trump.

Trump recalled the first assassination attempt on July 13 at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. He praised the people at the rally—especially volunteer fire chief Corey Comperatore, who was killed—for their bravery that day.

“I love the people of this country, people like Corey, who was just this massive Trump fan, and he got hit,” the former president said. “But people like that, they’re in love with the country, and they hate seeing what’s happened to the country.”

3. Trump Warns Against a Harris Presidency

“You have 21 million people pouring in from all countries all over the world, from prisons and jails, from mental institutions and insane asylums,” Trump said.

“They’re coming in as terrorists, and they’re coming into our country at levels that nobody’s ever seen,” he continued. “And they’re taking over our towns, and they’re taking over small cities and big cities.”

Trump referenced New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago, as well as Aurora, Colorado, where Venezuelan gangs have taken over apartment buildings.

“The border is in much worse shape than it’s ever been,” he said. “There’s the worst border there’s ever been in any country.”

Trump criticized Vice President Kamala Harris for her management of the border crisis.

“You have Kamala. She was the border czar,” the 45th president said. “I call her the comrade because she’s a Marxist. She wants to tax everybody out of business.”

4. ‘The World is a Nasty Place’

The world is a “nasty place,” Trump said, but he doesn’t view Russia and China as enemies.

“I think we’ll get along great with China,” he said. “I think we’ll get along with great with Russia. I want to get Russia to settle up with Ukraine, and stop this. Millions of people being killed, far greater than the number you read about, but I want to get that done. Before I even take office, I want to get that done as president elect, because it has to be solved.”

The world would not be on the brink of war if he had remained in office, he said.

“There wouldn’t have been an Oct. 7,” he said, referring to Hamas’ invasion of Israel, the massacre of some 1,200 people, and the war that has raged since. “There wouldn’t have been Russia attacking Ukraine. There wouldn’t be inflation, all this inflation, which has hurt people so badly. You wouldn’t have had that horrible type of withdrawal where we were getting out of Afghanistan.”

He said President Joe Biden’s withdrawal from Afghanistan three years ago “was the most embarrassing moment in the history of our country,” Trump said.

“And frankly, Russia would have never gone into Ukraine if it weren’t for that,” he said. “They looked at that, and they said, this country is no longer run by Trump. This country is run by stupid, stupid people.”

He said American military is great, but needs the right leadership.

“The bottom line is that it can be nasty, but it’s only going to get worse,” he said. “It’s going to get really bad. We’ll end up being Venezuela on steroids.”

Harris’ replacing Biden as the Democratic nominee was an “overthrow of a president,” Trump said.

“That literally was a coup,” he said. “The first coup of an American president.”

Trump emphasized the urgency of electing him as president in November.

“I love the country,” he said. “We’re going to make America great again, and we’ll be able to do it. We did it once, and we’ll do it again, and much easier this time.”

These 2 Freedom Caucus Lawmakers Say They Won’t Support Spending Package Without SAVE Act

Reps. Ralph Norman, R-S.C., and Chip Roy, R-Texas, said they will only vote for the continuing resolution to fund the federal government beyond the end of the fiscal year on Sept. 30 if it includes the SAVE Act, which would require proof of citizenship for voting.

“It’s not enough to say it’s illegal,” Roy told The Daily Signal, referring to illegal immigration. “We’ve got to be able to stop it.” Roy and Norman are two members of the House Freedom Caucus, which comprises about 40 conservative members of the House.

Norman and Roy spoke to “The Daily Signal Podcast” at the State Freedom Caucus Summit in Dallas on Saturday.

The House of Representatives, controlled narrowly by Republicans, will vote on the spending package Wednesday, reports say.

FACT CHECK: Kamala Harris Campaign Platform Makes Promises Based on False Assumptions

Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrats’ nominee for president, finally released her policy platform Monday, a day before her first debate with former President Donald Trump.

The Harris platform makes various claims about the root causes of issues faced by America and the way Harris plans to address those issues. The claims underlying her policy promises are false, however.

Here is a look at what the Harris campaign released under the title “A New Way Forward.”

Harris Vows to ‘Secure Border’ After 4 Years of Open Borders

Harris’ policy platform says that, if elected, she will “secure our border and fix our broken immigration system.” The Biden-Harris administration, however, abruptly shifted the nation’s border policies on Day One, enabling a massive influx of illegal immigrants since 2021.

The platform focuses on “the bipartisan border bill” that failed to pass the House of Representatives in 2023 and suggests the legislation would solve illegal immigration.

The platform blames Trump for “killing the bipartisan border bill” although out of office and thereby failing to solve the border crisis. The platform states that Harris would sign the legislation, suggesting that nothing more is needed to solve the underlying issues.

Congressional Republicans, however, said the border bill was political posturing and not a true effort to secure the border.

The bill “spends $20 billion to not secure the border, but to more efficiently encounter, process, and disperse illegal migrants,” Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis., told reporters.

Harris arguably shares responsibility for the border crisis with President Joe Biden, who tasked her in March 2021 with solving the “root causes” of illegal immigration from three Central American nations. That’s when both supporters and critics began referring to Harris as Biden’s “border czar.”

Harris Says Equality Act Will ‘Protect Civil Rights and Freedoms’

Harris now promises to “protect civil rights and freedoms” by passing the Equality Act to “enshrine anti-discrimination protections for LGBTQI+ Americans in health care, housing, education, and more into law.”

But critics say the Equality Act would undermine women’s civil rights in order to help a minority of men who claim to be women.

The bill would add sexual orientation and gender identity as protected classes in the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

It would force schools and other programs to allow biological males who “identify” as females to compete against girls and women in sports and use private female facilities such as bathrooms and locker rooms.

Harris Blames Inflation on Price Gouging, Not Government Spending

Harris’ policy statement on inflation suggests again that price gouging, not government spending, is the central driver of rising prices.

“As president, she will direct her administration to crack down on anti-competitive practices that let big corporations jack up prices and undermine the competition that allows all businesses to thrive while keeping prices low for consumers,” the campaign website states.

However, as Heritage Foundation budget expert EJ Antoni pointed out, there is a far more obvious culprit: government spending.

Antoni, an economist, noted: “One of the functions of money is that of a measuring tool. If a yardstick were to shrink from 36 inches down to just 30, it would take 120 of these shortened yardsticks to cover the distance of a football field, instead of 100. As the dollar has lost value, it takes more dollars to measure the value of the things we buy.”

If price gouging caused 40-year record-high inflation, Antoni asked, did businessmen “magically” become greedy when Biden and Harris took office?

“Were corporations never greedy in the 40 years leading up to Biden’s inflationary expansion of government?” he asked. “Businesses haven’t even passed all their higher costs on to consumers; if they’re trying to be greedy, they’re doing it all wrong.”

Harris’ policy platform also tacitly admits that it is implausible that price gouging is responsible for increases in prices. The platform notes that her “first-ever federal ban on corporate price gouging on food and groceries” would “build on the anti-price gouging statutes already in place in 37 states.”

If bans on price gouging were the solution to inflation, wouldn’t these bans have prevented the problem in those 37 states?

Harris Promises Crackdown on Iran, Though Biden-Harris Admin’s Loose Sanctions Netted Regime Billions

Harris’ platform talks a tough game on Iran, the world’s top sponsor of radical Islamist terrorism.

A section on keeping America safe proclaims: “Vice President Harris will never hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to protect U.S. forces and interests from Iran and Iran-backed terrorist groups.”

Tehran is the top financial sponsor of the terrorist group Hamas, which infamously slaughtered 1,139 Israelis—including women and children—on Oct. 7 in southern Israel.

Harris’ new policy pronouncements overlook the fact that the Biden-Harris administration loosened U.S. economic sanctions on Iran, netting the Islamist regime $71 billion more before Oct. 7 than under Trump-Pence administration policies.

If Harris would “never hesitate” to protect U.S. interests from Iran, did she object to the administration’s move to loosen sanctions?

Harris Repeats Widely Debunked Claim That Trump Campaign Created Project 2025

The Harris policy platform includes several tabs contrasting the vice president’s positions with what it calls “Trump’s Project 2025 Agenda,” although Trump repeatedly has distanced himself from The Heritage Foundation-led Presidential Transition Project.

In fact, a campaign official for Harris already has acknowledged that the vice president has deliberately misled voters about Project 2025.

Harris and her campaign repeatedly have tried to link Project 2025 to Trump, despite the former president’s pushback.

In a particularly ironic claim, Harris said Trump would implement his Project 2025 agenda to consolidate power, bring the Department of Justice and the FBI under his direct control so he can give himself unchecked legal power, go after opponents, and “rule as a dictator on ‘Day One.’”

However, the Biden-Harris Justice Department targeted pro-lifers and other Americans with dissenting political and religious views, particularly after the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade and abortion on demand in June 2022.

For instance, a Michigan jury recently found seven pro-life activists guilty of engaging in a conspiracy against rights and violations of the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances Act, or FACE Act, for peacefully protesting outside an abortion clinic.

The charges against the pro-life activists were brought by DOJ’s Civil Rights Division, led by Assistant Attorney General Kristen Clarke.

Launched two years ago by The Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 has grown to a coalition of 110 conservative organizations that developed a transition plan for the next presidential administration. The Heritage-led coalition considers its work to be nonpartisan and offers it to whoever occupies the White House in January 2025.

Biden Executive Order Enables Illegal Aliens to Vote, Election Expert Says

A 2021 Biden administration executive order constitutes unlawful and potentially partisan interference in the election process, according to a new report from Hans von Spakovsky, a senior legal fellow at The Heritage Foundation.

President Joe Biden’s 2021 Executive Order 14019 directs executive branch departments and federal employees to use federal resources to get out the vote, von Spakovsky says.

Illegal immigrants who came to the U.S. as children, dubbed DACA recipients, “are in the country illegally, and everyone who is being given health benefits through federal programs is also being told to register to vote,” von Spakovsky told The Daily Signal.

BREAKING: RFK Suspends His Campaign, Endorses Trump

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. suspended his 2024 presidential campaign and endorsed Republican nominee former President Donald Trump. He announced that while he will remain on the ballot in “safe” states where Democratic nominee Vice President Kamala Harris or Trump are likely to prevail, he will remove his name from 10 “battleground” states and he urged his voters to support Trump in those states.

“In the name of saving democracy, the Democratic Party has set itself to dismantling it,” Kennedy, 70 said at a press conference in Phoenix, Arizona, Friday.

He claimed the DNC engaged in “continual legal warfare against both President Trump and myself.”

Kennedy condemned the Democrats’ 2024 primary as a “sham primary” that was “rigged.” He also condemned President Joe Biden’s decision to drop out of the presidential race last month as a “palace coup.”

“The same shadowy DNC operatives appointed his successor, also without an election,”” Kennedy said.

“In my heart, I no longer believe that I have a realistic path to victory,” he added, saying that he “cannot in good conscience” ask for his volunteers and donors to support him.

RFK also said he disagrees with Democrats on “most existential issues.” He further encouraged supporters in blue states to vote for him. In ten battleground states, however, he announced he will remove his name and encouraged voters not to vote for him.

Kennedy said he’s supporting Trump due to his concern for “free speech, war in Ukraine, and war on our children.”

Kennedy, who was running as an independent candidate, withdrew from the ballot in Arizona late Thursday, which many said signaled his impending exit from the race.

The nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, RFK is an environmental activist and vaccine skeptic. He has vowed to end the war in Ukraine war and slash the military budget.

Kennedy launched a campaign for the Democratic nomination in April and switched to run as an Independent candidate in October, garnering attacks from the Trump campaign that he is a member of the “radical left.” Trump told CNN Tuesday he would “love” a Kennedy endorsement and is open to Kennedy working in his administration if he drops out and endorses him.

9 Takeaways From Night 2 of the Democratic National Convention

Democrats convened for night two of the DNC in Chicago on Tuesday, featuring the Obama family, Sen. Bernie Sanders, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, and Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker.

Americans can hope to be enlightened by the theme of the night, “A Bold Vision for America’s Future,” as Democratic nominee Kamala Harris has said little about her policy platform. The Harris campaign website lacks a policy position section, and the vice president has declined interviews with the media.

DNC night one included speeches from former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, and President Joe Biden. Follow for live updates as the Democratic National Convention continues.

1. Obama Mocks Trump

“This country is good to kids with funny names who believe in a country where anything is possible,” former President Barack Obama said.

Obama closed out night two of the Democratic National Convention.

In a rare mention of Biden at the DNC, Obama praised his former running mate.

“What I came to admire most about Joe wasn’t just his smarts, his experience,” Obama said. “It was in his empathy and his decency and his hard-earned resilience, his unshakable belief that everyone in this country deserves a fair shot.”

But “the torch has been passed,” Obama said, previewing the “fight” upcoming. Despite all the memes, Obama said to a cheering audience, this will be a close race.

Obama called former President Donald Trump a “78-year-old millionaire who has not stopped whining about his problems since he rode down that golden elevator.”

“There’s the childish nicknames, the crazy conspiracy theories, the weird obsession with crowd size,” he said, to loud applause.

?BELOW THE BELT? Barack Obama mocks Trump's "weird obsession with crowd sizes," then gestures to signify length with his hands and looks down as the #DNC crowd goes wild. pic.twitter.com/PohV8cqSZN

— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) August 21, 2024

America is ready for Harris to be president, Obama said.

“And Kamala Harris is ready for the job,” he added.

Obama compared Trump to a neighbor constantly blowing a leaf-blower outside your window, and he compared Harris to the neighbor who helps.

Obama outlined Harris’ record as California attorney general and vice president.

“She is going to sign a law to guarantee every woman’s right to make her own health care decisions,” he said.

Of Democratic vice presidential nominee Tim Walz, Obama said, “I love this guy.” The former president painted Walz as a moderate midwesterner, though the Minnesota governor supports no limits on abortion and transgender medical interventions for children.

Harris and Walz believe “everyone deserves a chance, that even when we don’t agree with each other, we can find a way to live with each other,” Obama said.

Obama adapted his former campaign slogan—“Yes, We Can”—to Harris, saying “Yes, she can,” and inspiring cheers from the crowd.

“We believe in the freedom to provide for your family if you’re willing to work hard, the freedom to breathe clean air and clean water and send your kids to school without worrying if they’ll come home,” Obama said.

He said Americans should be able to choose how many children they have and what their family looks like.

“We believe that freedom requires us to recognize that other people have the freedom to make choices that are different from ours,” he said, emphasizing “mutual respect” in an age of “polarization.”

Obama urged Americans to refrain from canceling each other.

“If a parent or grandparent occasionally says something that makes us cringe,” he said, “we recognize that the world is moving fast, that they need time, a little encouragement to catch up.”

"All of us across the political spectrum, seem so quick to assume the worst of others, unless they agree with us on every single issue," Obama laments. Oh yeah, but don't you dare disagree with him on climate alarmism… #DNC pic.twitter.com/IGA0pKwTIj

— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) August 21, 2024

Obama said American can’t eradicate injustice everywhere or “police the world” but can be a force for good.

He said the same threads that tie Americans together still hold strong.

“We want to be better and the joy and the excitement that we’re seeing around this campaign tells us we’re not alone,” Obama said.

2. Michelle Obama on ‘Vanquishing Demons’

Former first lady Michelle Obama took the stage, sharing her hope that America will “vanquish the demons of fear, division, and hate that have consumed us, and continue pursuing the unfinished promise of this great nation.”

She said she has mourned the dimming of her hope in the last few years.

Michelle remembered her recently deceased mother, whose funeral she attended in Chicago.

“My mom in her steady, quiet way, lived out that striving sense of hope every single day of her life,” Michelle said, adding that her mom believed every life was important.

Kamala Harris’ mother shared Michelle’s mother’s belief in America, Michelle said.

“My girl, Kamala Harris, is more than ready for this moment,” Michelle said. She called Harris one of the most qualified and dignified people to ever run for president.

She praised Harris for the “joy of her laughter and her light.” Harris knows why America is great, according to Michelle.

Harris suggested that Trump has been racist against Harris and the Obama family.

“For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us, to see his limited, narrow view of the world,” she said. “It made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working and highly educated, successful people who happen to be black.”

She criticized Trump for “misogynistic, racist lies.” Michelle said Trump supports bans on IVF, as well as so-called book bans and “demonizing” LGBTQ-identifying “children.” Trump has publicly supported IVF.

?Michelle Obama engages in gaslighting about "book banning," claiming that conservatives are "demonizing our children for being who they are" when we're saying that gender ideology is actually a dangerous lie that victimizes kids. #DNC https://t.co/y4kNTMC1jk pic.twitter.com/psFpHKHuRZ

— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) August 21, 2024

Michelle Obama accuses the GOP of "doubling down on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies" like… the idea that abortion frees women, that timeliness is an aspect of "whiteness," and that we need to segregate the races. Oh wait, no that's her side…? #DNC pic.twitter.com/XVBJnrU8SJ

— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) August 21, 2024

She warned against “lies taking hold,” saying many people “don’t want to vote for a woman” and “will continue to prioritize building their wealth over ensuring that everyone has enough.”

“We cannot indulge our anxiety about whether this country will elect someone like Kamala, instead of doing everything we can get someone like Kamala elected,” the Obama matriarch said.

She urged Democrats to “do something” on behalf of the Harris campaign until November. The DNC audience repeatedly shouted, “Do something,” just as the audience at the July Republican National Convention in Milwaukee chanted, “USA!”

Michelle introduced her husband before leaving the stage.

3. Doug Emhoff Says Kamala Will ‘Be There’ for Your Children

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff repeatedly expressed his love for his wife Kamala Harris.

Emhoff greeted his family in the stands and discussed a pleasant childhood in New Jersey. Sharing his life story, Emhoff talked about his law career, his first marriage and divorce, and his courtship of Harris.

Emhoff presented himself as a lovable goober, leaving an awkward voicemail to the future vice president at 8:30 a.m.

“As I got to know her better, and just fell in love fast, I learned what drives Kamala, and it’s what you’ve seen over these past four years, and especially these past four weeks,” Emhoff said. “She finds joy in pursuing justice.”

Emhoff said he goes to church with Harris on Easter.

“She has connected me more deeply to my faith, even though it’s not the same as hers,” said Emhoff, who is Jewish. “She comes to synagogue with me for my holiday services, and I go to church with her on Easter.”

The second gentleman thanked his ex-wife and Harris for their role in raising his children, who call the vice president “Mamala.” He said his son Cole asked Harris to officiate his wedding.

“She’s always been there for our children,” Emhoff said, “and I know she’ll always be there for yours too.”

Emhoff said Harris is the right person for him and the right president.

"She’s always been there for our children, and I know she’ll always be there for yours too," Doug Emhoff says of Kamala Harris. I don't know about you, but I don't think I want Kamala to be there for my children… #DNC pic.twitter.com/xKfhZQjO1f

4. Trump’s ‘Anti-Woman Crusade’

Sen. Tammy Duckworth of Illinois accused Trump of an “anti-woman crusade” against in vitro fertilization, though the former president has said he would not ban IVF treatments.

Duckworth conceived her two daughters through IVF treatments, she said.

“Republicans will not stop at banning abortion,” the senator continued. “They will come for IVF next. They’ll prosecute doctors. They’ll shame and spy on women.”

Trump has stated his support for IVF on TruthSocial.

“Under my leadership, the Republican Party will always support the creation of strong, thriving, healthy American families,” he said. “We want to make it easier for mothers and fathers to have babies, not harder!”

Duckworth suggested that Harris, and not Trump, believes Americans should be able “to be called mommy or daddy without being treated like a criminal.”

Tammy Duckworth: "Every American deserves the right to be called 'mommy' or 'daddy' without being treated like a criminal." Is it just me or is this #DNC getting… weird? https://t.co/LhSOfNz5m7 pic.twitter.com/tP3dLFTU6x

5. Former GOP Mayor Calls Republicans a ‘Cult’

The former Republican mayor of Mesa, Arizona, said he feels more at home in the Democratic party than his own.

“The Republican Party has been kidnapped by extremists and devolved into a cult, the cult of Donald Trump,” Mayor John Giles said.

“We all need an adult in the White House, and we’ve seen what happens when we don’t,” Giles added.

He urged moderate Republicans to join forces with the Democrats.

“I have an urgent message for the majority of Americans who, like me, are in the political middle,” Giles said. “John McCain’s Republican Party is gone, and we don’t owe a damn thing to what’s been left behind.”

6. Billionaire Brags About Money After Bernie Sanders’ Speech

JB Pritzker accused Republicans of “anti-family” culture war positions, while advocating for abortion.

“Americans don’t want to be forced to drive 100 miles to deliver a baby because draconian abortion laws shut down the maternity ward,” the Illinois governor said.

He appears to have been referring to a hospital in northern Idaho that ended its labor and delivery services, citing staffing issues and the state’s “legal and political climate.” The full impact of Idaho’s laws on this decision remains unclear. Republicans do not support bans or limits on maternity services.

“Americans with LGBTQ kids don’t want them facing discrimination at school because the state sanctioned it,” Pritzker continued.

He said Americans don’t want their kids to be taught in history class that “slavery was a jobs program.” Pritzker appeared to be mischaracterizing Florida’s history curriculum, which details harsh conditions slaves endured and explains that “slaves developed skills which, in some instances, could be applied for their personal benefit” both in slavery and when freed, William Allen, a descendent of slavery who helped write the curriculum, told Fox News.

Pritzker said Harris has spent three-and-a-half years cleaning up Trump’s messes.

“It’s time we stop expecting women to clean up messes without the authority and title to match the job!” Pritzker said, seemingly referring to the unpaid job of motherhood.

Minutes after Sen. Bernie Sanders slammed billionaires, the Illinoisan bragged about the illustrious contents of his pocket book.

CAN'T MAKE THIS UP: Right after Bernie Sanders spoke to condemn the billion-ehres, J.B. Pritzker declares, "Take it from an actual billionaire," to loud applause. What is this? #DNC pic.twitter.com/m5xTfUcU6Y

— Tyler O'Neil (@Tyler2ONeil) August 21, 2024

Pritzker repeated the popular Leftist charge against Republicans.

“These guys aren’t just weird,” he said. “They’re dangerous.”

"It's not woke that limits economic growth, it's weird," J.B. Pritzker says. Yet he doesn't explain what that means, besides taking a swipe at @elonmusk #DNC. He did claim Democrats—the party of massive government spending?—are anti-inflation.? pic.twitter.com/KADUZtjQfQ

7. Bernie Sanders Says Harris’s Agenda Is Not Radical

Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont highlighted the public health crisis surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic when the Biden administration took office.

Sanders thanked Biden, Harris, and Democrats in Congress.

“We provided emergency assistance for small businesses to stay open,” Sanders said. “We guaranteed health care coverage to tens of millions of Americans through one of the largest expansions of Medicaid in history, we provided rent relief and mortgage assistance, which prevented tenants and homeowners from being evicted.”

The socialist senator spoke to the power of big government.

“When the political will is there, the government can effectively deliver for the people,” he said.

He advocated for an economy that works for “all of us, not just the billionaire class.”

While “60% of our people live paycheck and paycheck, the top 1% have never, ever been richer,” he said.

Though “the oligarchs tell us we shouldn’t take on price gouging, we shouldn’t expand Medicare,” Sanders said that is exactly what Democrats will do.

Republican nominee Donald Trump slammed Harris’ plan to ban price gouging on Saturday, saying she’s gone “full communist.”

“She wants to destroy our country,” Trump said. “After causing catastrophic inflation, Comrade Kamala announced that she wants to institute socialist price controls.”

Sanders said every American, regardless of finances, should have a right to higher education. He looks forward to working with “Kamala and Tim” to pass their agenda.

“This is not a radical agenda,” the self-proclaimed socialist said.

“I’ll tell you what a radical agenda is,” Sanders continued, “Trump’s Project 2025.”

Sanders continued the left-wing trend of erroneously associating Trump with Project 2025, a project of The Heritage Foundation available to whichever candidate becomes the 47th president.

He urged Democrats to “stand up to wealth and power” and stand up for people “at home and abroad.” Sanders, who is Jewish, called for an end to the “horrific war in Gaza” and “an immediate ceasefire.”

8. Chuck Schumer Dances on Stage

After dancing onto the stage. Sen. Chuck Schumer of New York warned America against returning to the “dark night” of Trump.

“This November, we can choose a brighter, a fairer, a freer future,” Schumer said. “Or we can relive the dark night of Trump’s American carnage.”

“Only one candidate will move America forward for our children, our grandchildren, no matter their race, no matter their creed, their gender or family,” Schumer continued.

9. Officially Nominating Kamala Harris

Kamala Harris spoke at a campaign rally in Wisconsin after her party nominated her.

“This is a people-powered campaign and together we will chart a new way forward, a future for freedom, opportunity, of optimism and faith,” Harris said.

Democrats from states across the country spoke in order to formally nominate Harris.

A woman from Texas said an abortion ban forced her to travel across state lines to end her pregnancy, though every state in America allows doctors to perform abortions if necessary to save the life of the mother.

“There’s nothing pro-family about abortion bans,” Kate Cox said. “There’s nothing pro-life about letting women suffer and even die.”

Cox said an abortion enabled her to get pregnant again later.

A fellow Texan, former Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards introduced Cox.

U.S. territories pledged their support to Kamala Harris.

Delegates from the Northern Mariana Islands said the climate is more important than partisan politics.

“The Earth is not red or blue,” the delegate said. “The Earth is sick and we must protect it.”

Harris officially won the Democratic presidential nomination nearly two weeks ago in an online vote, so the Tuesday roll call was purely ceremonial.
